I run a corporate volunteer program. UWPC has been a tremendous resource in helping find volunteer opportunities to share with our employees.
I really appreciate the work the volunteer center does. The staff are always very friendly and eager to help. Myself and coworkers have been connected to several amazing volunteer opportunities through the VC. I am thankful that so many volunteer opportunities are available because although I cannot afford to give much, I have a strong desire to give back to the community and UWPC really makes that possible and easy for me. Keep up the good work!
UWPC has been a vital partner with our non-profit agency for decades as a funder, community advocate and champion for children's oral health. We greatly appreciate their efforts to effect sustainable change, as well as the spirited community-wide volunteers they attract to support projects throughout the year. We are forever grateful for the UWPC Day of Caring volunteer team that completed the first phase of a complicated moving project. We've had the honor to work on a community outreach project with their professional and enthusiastic campaign account executives for several years, allowing us to forge meaningful relationships that last beyond the activity at hand. In our work with UWPC employees in diverse community collaborations, our experience is that they bring passion, deep understanding of community needs, and professionalism to every effort. Our employees recognize UWPC's positive impact on the community, showing their support with 100% participation in its annual campaign.
As the Director of a funded agency and a member of a United Way funding panel I have always been impressed by the professionalism of the UWPC staff, and their commitment to helping the community as a whole respond to the needs of the community. During the past year I have been fortunate enough to be be involved with a new UWPC effort - Power Packs - which has focused on supporting programs throughout the county like ours that provide food for the weekend for students at-risk of going hungry. The UWPC's commitment to this issue combined with the scope of their reach throughout the County has generated increased awareness of childhood hunger as well as increased support for programs like ours.
As a member of the Project:U leadership team, I find the scope of the network available to very helpful and the people have great communication skills. I am very excited to be a part of such a great group of like-minded philanthropists actually making a difference in the community. I feel fortunate that United Way of Pierce County is willing to help young professionals develop their skill sets and reach out to the broader South Puget Sound community.
I have been involved with United Way of Pierce County for 10 years now and couldn't be more pleased! They are always willing to connect me and my co-workers with opportunites to volunteer in our community. We participate in their Annual Day of Caring, Back to School is Cool Project, Season of Caring - Thanksgiving and Season of Caring - Christmas. All of these projects enable us to give in the most meaningful way possible. They also set us up with the Feed the Need Project where we go to a local shelter once a month to feed the clientele there. As a member of the United Way of Pierce County Volunteer Engagement Council, I am able to assist them in finding more ways to involve others in giving of their time in our community. I couldn't ask for a better way to find volunteer opportunities than working with the personnel at United Way of Pierce County. I know that the money that I donate (as well as the dollars from my co-workers) are given to agencies in my community in a way that will have the highest impact.
Great staff and strong connections with agencies in our Pierce County community!
My first experience with United Way was several years ago as single parent trying to make ends meet. UWPC helped with providing a daycare center for my son. 20 years later I wanted to say Thank You to this wonderful organization, in doing so I went in search of a project that I could give back to by volunteering. I went online to the UW Volunteer Center and found a project that spoke to my heart. That was over 3 years ago and haven't stopped volunteering. The people at UW are all wonderful to work with they all keep me informed of projects that I might be interested in, along with continuing to visit the Volunteer Center.
United Way is so dear to me I can never thank them enough for the services they provided for my family! I will continue to volunteer for as long as I am able, as I know I too am making a difference in someone's life.
This year was my second time reviewing grants for United Way of Pierce County. Their review process is excellent. It involves several layers of input from community leaders and people working in the areas addressed by the grants. The guidelines and expectatons for the grants are very clear to the applicants and to the reviewers. UWPC is committed not only to the eventual grantees, but to all the applicants who can benefit from their support.
I highly recommend them as a source of grants and as a great place to volunteer.
The personal attention we have received has been amazing.
United Way Pierce County provides invaluable resources to our community through grants to smaller non-profits like the Tacoma Children's Museum. These valuable funds provide residents the opportunity to engage their kids in meaningful learning through play. What is even better through the funding the program is pay what you can meaning that low income parents and grandparents are able to provide these unique and invaluable play times without placing a financial burden on them.
Another significant program that is conducted by United Way is known as 2-1-1. Providing residents access to resources for individuals and families in need. United Way Pierce County is a local non-profit that brings people together in times of need. It is truly a great nonprofit.
