This organization is a disgrace to any legitimate business or non-profit that represents law enforcement officers and their families. These people practice predatory fundraising and even a cursory review of their non-profit tax filings demonstrates that they provide little to no value or support for law enforcement from the vast majority of funds they raise. Shame on all of you!!

I find it very surprising this organization has a Platinum rating. They farm out their donor solicitations to companies who have paid to purchase phone numbers. That's... legal. Not a best practice, but legal. Fine. The problem is those solicitors cannot answer basic questions about the organization: What do you do? How do you achieve it? What legislation do you pay to lobby for? What are the results of your organization?
More annoying than anything is I've asked several times to be removed from their list and yet here I am, still being asked to give.
Should you give to this organization? Maybe. But just know that a lot of what you're donating to seems like overhead: paying for lists, paying for untrained solicitors to ask for donations, and then doing that all over again when someone like me isn't properly removed from a call list. Maybe just donate to your local FOP if the cause means that much to you.

Complete fraud. DO NOT DONATE.
They should be in jail for basically stealing donations intended for disabled police officers. Charity rating "F". HIGH CONCERN ADVISORY. See images.
Total Fraud Company Giver Be Ware. When they called to ask for a donation we told them no. All of a sudden they start sending invoices stating that we agreed to the donation. Then they follow up with phone calls telling us that "Mark" Agreed to give the donation. Thats funny because I'm Mark and I never agreed to it. When I told them this on the phone and asked them to never call back. They still call and tell my office manager that I agreed to give the money. So today after another invoice shows up I tried call to talk with someone. Guess What? You can only leave messages for them you cant talk to a human. TOTAL FRAUD.
Even though I was skeptical I sent a donation. Surprisingly I received a thank you letter from the organization and from a family that is in their programs. I also just noticed they have a platinum rating on guidestar. I'm glad somebody is doing it right. Good job NACOP

The work of the Nat Assoc of Chiefs of police is important and I'm glad to see someone doing what they are doing. I particularly like the fact that they help remember the kids of disabled officers by sending Christmas and Birthday gifts to each of the children--and managing to keep track of what has been sent so they send different gifts each time and to different members of the same family.
A friend of my family was a police officer that was disabled in the line of duty and it was a difficult time for the entire family. I'm not sure if the Chiefs of Policy Association provided direct help because I didn't know of it's existence back then, but this is exactly the kind of situation where help was needed. I'm glad that they are around.

I donated to this organization for the first time this holiday season, after speaking with the professionals who run it and with those who benefit from its services. The work it does -- from maintaining the American Police Hall of Fame & Museum (with its beautiful Memorial area) to supporting the families of officers disabled in the line of duty and providing K9 units to over 100 agencies nationwide -- is consistent and essential. From the Christmas and Birthday gifts to the children of disabled officers, to college scholarships, to educational museum displays and activities geared toward improving relationships between civilians and law enforcement, to supporting law enforcement leadership through publications and surveys, and so much more, I can see my dollars at work and I am eager to see how the programs expand in the coming year.

As the wife of A State Trooper, that was shot in the line of duty and left catastrophically injured, I can say first hand that this organization has been there for me and our (2) children. Every year they remembered our daughter's birthday and Christmas with a present in the mail. The $250.00 summer camp scholarship allowed them to go to cheer camp that due to my husband's reduced income might not have been possible. When they were college bound a $500.00 check for (4) years assisted in buying books. I receive yearly a Mother's Day gift. I am in touch with this organization routinely as they have not forgotten us. As time passes, the people from the department have moved on and calls are non existent. Some may think officers are well taken care of after being injured, but, one truly doesn't know the struggles financially, emotionally and physically that haunts us daily. No one has ever taken into account a reduced salary does not increase with the cost of living increase and raising children. Families have suffered enough and want to try to live a life of normalcy. This organization is not just State specific, but Nationally. These gestures of kindness came in a time of need financially and emotionally. I am truly grateful!!!

As a law enforcement wife, I am grateful that I have not needed NACOP's services, but I know people who have and they've been a Godsend. Keep up the good work!
Your front cover of the Fall 2017 edition/magazine was a poor choice. Yes we value SWAT/ESU teams and are thankful they are available, BUT this is not the face of Police work nor is it the face I as a Chief of Police would advertise or promote on the cover of a public magazine, nor do I appreciate it when you do.

I have personally visited the Hall of Fame and Museum where the National Association of Chiefs of Police is housed. I was very moved by the Memorial and the names of fallen officers etched in marble. As a retired officer myself, I know how much this organization does for police and police families. In tandem with the AFP&CC (also located at the hall of fame), they see to it that the children, families and parents of fallen or disabled officers are never forgotten, even years after a line-of-duty death or injury. Thank goodness for good organizations and dedicated people like NACOP and the Hall of Fame staff.

Excellent organization that supports disabled officers and their families, in addition to providing education and information to law enforcement leadership nationwide. Their K-9 placement program has placed canine units in over 90 law enforcement agencies across 31 states. Through the Disabled Police Officers Fund, NACOP provides birthday and holiday gifts to the children of disabled officers as well as funds for summer camp, college scholarships, emergency medical services and more. I encourage those who are thinking about donating to contact the agency and find out more about what they do and how they do it. A tour of their Museum and operational facility (which houses TWO different organizations -- NACOP and the American Federation of Police and Concerned Citizens) is really impressive. From that one location, they serve LEOs and their families nationwide.
