Mission: Our mission as part of a catholic health care system is to further the healing ministry of jesus by continually improving the health and well-being of all people, especially the poor, in the communities we serve.
Programs: St. Mary's of michigan medical center ("smmmc") is a 268 licensed bed nonprofit acute care hospital which provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care services. Smmmc seeks to improve the physical, mental, social and spiritual health status of its surrounding community. Smmmc provides a substantial portion of its services to the elderly and poor. During the fiscal year, approximately 53% of the value of services rendered was to elderly patients under the medicare program, and approximately 16% of the services were provided to patients who were deemed indigent under state, county, or medical center guidelines. During the fiscal year ending june 30, 2017, the estimated unreimbursed cost of services provided to the elderly, uninsured, and underinsured totaled $9,154,047.
