Mission: Usi is a nonprofit corporation that aims to deliver photovoltaic (solar energy) systems that provide lighting, general electrical needs and water pumping capabilities to under privileged persons in the us and developing countries.

Programs: United solar initiative in partnership with world vision constructed 12 solar water pumping systems in and around tamale, ghana in 2016. United solar initiative donated solar panels for these installations. World vision provided all other materials and labor for the installations.

one usi volunteer traveled to nicaragua 5/7/16-5/15/16 to oversee 1 battery-based project installed on a school. The technical work was subcontracted to suni solar - a nicaraguan-based solar company. Suni solar provided materials and skilled labor to complete the installation and the volunteer provided project was installed on a school called santa ana for a non-profit called sister communities of san ramon.

united solar initiative organized an international training for world vision staff in tamale, ghana from 16th to 21st june 2016 to build the capacity of staff. a solar powered lighting system was installed by a group of 10 volunteers and donated to the 911 first responder memorial foundation. The 1kw system was installed at a memorial site in pittsboro, nc. The system powers lighting for the memorial site. The system was commissioned and signed over on october 9, 2016.
