Causes: Fishing & Hunting, Sports
Mission: Conservation education/firearms training: provide monthly conservation newsletter to local schools, youth conservation camp, 20 certified instructors for youth firearms, safety training, firearms training (qualifying) for local & federal agencies.
Programs: Firearms and safety training and conservation education - uns has purchased and have on hand rifles for use by firearm safety youths while going through the uns firearm safety course at our retreat. We are currently working with umd's outdoor program to introduce students to firearm safety, range safety, and safe shooting. We have purchased film and conservation education programs for distributioon to area public schools and sponsor youths to attend school of fish education program as well as local trap teams.
newsletter - our monthly newsletters contain information on current conservation issues and uns upcoming events.
uns membership - uns members attending membership meetings receive education on current topics and help establish program priorities and elect individuals for leadership positions. Members may make use of the club's island lake retreat, rifle range, picnic grounds, primitive camping, boat launching, and water facilities. Members also receive the club's monthly newsletter plus membership paid by uns to the minnesota conservation federation.
