UNC helped me get my medicine when it wasn’t at the pharmacy. The nurse called my doctor’s office and made sure it was sent in. She helped me change pharmacies so my pills come in a box. It is delivered to my house now.

Over 25 years I saw a great need among the homeless community as well as youngsters in crisis. However, when I arrived at the doors of UNC I was totally impressed by the need of clients and even more impressed by the kind heart of people such as Mari (the front desk administrator) sought of speak. She shows empathy in great proportions as well as professionalism beyond any I have ever seen elsewhere. Without a doubt these folks here truly go beyond and care about their clients. god bless them all. Mike Hanley should be gleaming with pride, great job.

I worked for UNC until I retired. I continue to be impressed with the good work this agency does for the underserved in Lackawanna County. Wherever a need is recognized, UNC is there to fill it. I commend Mike Hanley for his vision and leadership of this wonderful agency.

Dedicated to helping individuals, especially families with children, to become more independent, UNC is constantly helping families through crises and helping to guide children and young people to be successful in school & life. For example, the program for transitional housing for kids aging out of foster care provides these young people with housing and services to help them become responsible, independent adults. As a result of tutroing, mentoring and general encouragement, a number of these young people are now enrolled in post-high school programs such as college and technical training so that they can live on their own and be productive members of society.
