I was participating in several trainings, and I loved the way everyone was treated and the topics they taught us, also that they practiced equity because they always had interpreters.

I've had the privilege of participating in more than one of UFE's Healing Justice Retreats and a Circle Keeping training. I can definitely say that the time I spent learning from the organization has improved my personal and professional life. The things I have learned have helped me increase my self esteem, vision and understanding of emotional responses in myself and other people. UFE has played a tremendous role in shaping me as a person.

I worked at UFE from 1998 - 2016 designing and leading popular economnics education workshops, materials, and training of trainer events. I was also a board member from 2017 - 2019. I have also been a financial supporter for over ten years. UFE is among a very few organizations dedicated to supporting and advancing movements for economic and racial equity. This is accomplished essentially through (1) providing an intersectional analysis that explores the economy through race, gender, and class lenses, and (2) using and gteaching popular education principles to enhance grassroots organizing.

UFE not only "talks the talk" that is necessary for movements to grow and build grassroots power, it "walks the walk" by applying the principles that stem from its analysis of economic and racial inequality to its work and its internal organization. These principles include equity, sustainability, accountability, democracy, honesty, humilkity, diversity, and compassion.

While I have retired from paid employment, I am active politically in my home town of Medford, MA and I try to apply both UFE's analysis as well as its methodology to efforts to support the inclusion of Medford's marginalized communities in local decisions that affect their lives and efforts to counter the growing crisis of housing affordability.

In its earlier years, UFE was one of the few voices pointing to the relationship between the vast concentration of wealth and power at the top and the consequent increase in economic and racial inequality. Through its efforts (and others who began to raise voices decrying growing inequality, loss of democracy, and environmental catastrophe), UFE has helped inject this realization into mainstream narratives. From Occupy Wall Street to the Presidential campaign speeches of Senator Bernie Sanders, to editorials in the NY Times, the discussions of economic inequality have roots in UFE's work to shine a spotlight on this important issue. For this I am so grateful to UFE.

United for a Fair Economy is an incredible organization that works diligently to advance economic justice for all. Their values are present not only in their work in the community but with all the staff. I have worked in partnership as a staff at the Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University where they have graciously created transformative learning opportunities for Tisch Scholars. Every Tisch Scholar who has worked with UFE has expressed how profound their experience was and how the experience has shaped how they want to engage in change-making work. The ability to impact a young person's mind is a testament to the wok and commitment UFE puts into everything they do.

I've been involved with UFE one way or another since 2016. I have enormous respect for this organization--its visionary leadership, its creative application of healing justice to economic justice, its nuanced understanding of race and class, and its unwavering commitment to immigrants, workers and the South. I'm so grateful UFE continues to exist, thrive and evolve.

I have worked directly with UFE for many years now and consider them an important ally and a trusted leader. My organization, Self-Help Credit Union, first started working with UFE when they took the lead in organizing a coalition to raise wages in NC. Forming coalitions is critical yet complicated. I have appreciated their leadership. Similarly, we have partnered with UFE and 2 other community orgs to create the Avila Center for Community Leadership in Durham, NC. Through this process, we have built an even deeper trust and collaborative work relationship. I can honestly say that Avila would not be as far along as it is without the great contributions of UFE.

I am so thankful to have attended the Liberation Economics training with United for a Fair Economy!! They successfully facilitated conversations about race and history, and the implications of each on our existing economic conditions both nationally and internationally. They demonstrated an effective use of language justice practice, which allowed a group of mixed language speakers to share, learn and teach with each other without the barrier of language to prevent valuable connections. They also modeled the use of popular education and helped participants to understand the benefits of such practice.

I was able to implement some of the learning that I received at the training immediately in my work, and continue to build on the resources that I was given by the UFE team.

My name is Hazel and I was a former intern at UFE. I worked under an awesome supervisor, De'en Tarkpor, who was not only helpful and instructional but also amiable and relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed working for her. Beyond that, I also had the opportunity to interact with the inspiring individuals that worked at UFE (some who, years later, are still there). They were all really passionate about their work, and that really carries forward to the mission they are working to accomplish. Thank you, UFE, for giving me the chance to work for you. Best of luck and best wishes!

This year our organization began working this UFE, and they have truly been a breath of fresh air, with their commitment to providing real popular education for individuals in our movement. They combine vision and analysis with a strong orientation towards people that is empowering and energizing. We were most pleased to collaborate in training program for grassroots leaders and members alike, and I feel confident more confident in our coalition's ability to connect with the broader public and change hearts and minds as we move forward because UFE is helping our organizing become more effective at actually affecting the cultural shifts we need for long-term change. We are eager to take our next steps with UFE!

UFE has been crucial partner for our organization. For years we have used UFE' materials, invite staff to facilitate popular education workshops and have had multiple collaborations.
Many organizers and leaders in our organization had benefit from UFE's expertise and work.
Personally, I think that the expertise of today's UFE's director in Popular Education methodologies and her commitment to bring that expertise to low income people have made a big impact in communities of color around Boston and the country.

I am an outgoing Board member and have been connected to the project in various ways since 1996. First as Education Director for the North Carolina Council of the American Postal Workers Union, then as Workers School Coordinator for the Black Workers for Justice and more recently as Outreach Coordinator for the Workers Rights Project at the North Carolina Justice Center. All of the collaborations have used popular education to highlight income and wealth inequality or problems of disparities with the tax system in states and in our country. As a popular educator I can't remember doing any workshops or facilitation that didn't include exercises or materials created by UFE. As recently as last month their research and materials were part of my workshop on Black Workers, Jobs and Climate Justice. The current focus on strengthening the work of low wage workers and people of color organizing is on time and represents an excellent grasp of what it is we need to facilitate meaningful and lasting change.

My name is Susan Williams and I have known of and supported United for a Fair Economy for many years, and are very glad that they are still around. They have resolutely focused on the shocking wealth gap in this country and worked to help people understand and connect their work and organizing to these problems. This topic is now public debate and UFE continues to encourage grassroots organizing to connect with this debate and push to change the situation. This is critical for our country and the world. They have been a tremendous resource and inspiration for me for many years, and I have used and shared their educational workshops and reports with many other people and groups working on a broad cross section of issues.

UFE has been ahead of the curve. It began exposing the alarming trend in growing economic inequality in the early 1990's, using popular education that armed ordinary working people with the facts, the analysis - and the rage! Now that issue is on center stage; even the Republican candidates have to give it a nod. The original mission of UFE has been achieved. Now, it is working with lower income worker organizations and immigrant groups - important and growing populations - to understand why inequality has grown and to use methodologies for critical thinking to develop organizing strategize to reverse the trend. It's an appropriate focus for UFE, which is now just one part of a growing movement that they can say they kick-started!

My Name is Jose Palma and I work as community organizer in the Boston Area. As a person who struggle to understand how the Unites States economy work. I am happy that people at the United for a Fair Economy work hard to make it easy for me and many other people in our community to understand not only how the economy work but also help us to understand the impact of the economy in our lives.

United For a Fair Economy is doing a great job braking the complicated economy terminology to an easy to understand for anybody. I have had the beautiful experience of participating and a "train for trainers" this past summer and it was a grate place to be. I learned about the economy and after that training I have a better understanding of how popular education work.

Thanks to the United for a Fair Economy team.

UFE educates and equips national and regional leaders with tools to call out the harmful economic policies that further the racial wealth divide in the US. For more than two years I have served as a board member and I am profoundly energized to see the impact UFEs leadership is making. This is an organization worthy of your support. As treasurer I can only ensure donors that we take our role as a board--and your generosity--very seriously. Our finance team meets monthly with an eye to efficiently investing every dollar entrusted to us - to create needed change. But more - they are supporting grass-roots movements that will change people's lives!

We are indebted to UFE for their fabulous popular economics education work. United Methodist Women is a faith-based women's organization of 800,000 members. UFE is partnering with us to develop a curriculum to educate our members about Economic Inequality and the Racial Wealth Divide, with a focus on gender as well. They worked with us in design of a workshop and trained some of our members as trainers. They have given us great accompaniment. We value their deep respect for trainers and participants' knowledge, their wisdom about the systemic nature of inequality, their grasp of facts, their accessibility, and their focus on movement-building to get us out of this mess! Thank you, UFE!

I have been an economic, racial and social justice activist for decades. UFE has been extraordinarily helpful to me in my work through great "Train the Trainer" events, sharing ideas about how to improve my work, and excellent easy-to-understand written materials on their website. I consider them the best economic justice training organization in the country. If you want to understand better the fight for economic and social justice and become a more effective activist, UFE is the group that can help you grow. I attended UFE's Training of the Trainers Conference last Spring and walked away inspired, with new skill sets, and with a deeper understanding about the fight for economic justice in our country. I am amazed at the way UFE gets at the root causes - the issues from which all other issues stem - and how they use incredibly creative activities and visuals to communicate and convey their message. More people need to hear UFE's message and attend these trainings - because economic justice is an issue that affects us all, regardless of how much we make or how much we have in the bank. UFE was transformative for me, and I hope it can continue to be transformative for many others so that together we can transform society.

As a development intern at UFE I had the valuable experienece of channeling my skills towards a noble and important cause. As a student, I was looking for an internship experience that would transform me as much as it did my resume. UFE did that. While meeting dedicated and amazing people, I also developed my research skills and polished my presentation skills. I was given independence to develop my own ideas, but still had an involved and supportive supervisor in the person if Jamie Goldring. It was great to be able bond with the other interns, eating lunch together everyday and sharing our indvidual experiences together. The UFE staff truly believes in the fight for equality and it shows in everything they do; work-related or not.

I have been a regular supporter of UFE for most of the past 15 years. I have been a member of the board for the past 4, and current am serving as chair. Simply put, UFE is a member of the growing chorus of voices calling out to shift the dominant paradigm of wealth concentration (and the associated undemocratic power concentration) towards a more sustainable, resilient, and humane expression of the broad social economic contract.

To quote Louis Brandeis: "We can have concentrated wealth in the hands of a a few, or we can have democracy, but we can't have both."

UFE is a complex entity. We are a diverse group of individuals, coming from a wide array of backgrounds. The challenges we face internally are a reflection of the challenges that we face in the broader society around us. And we are "leaning into" those challenges with a shared desire to gain strength from our efforts. Our relationship with money (both as individuals and as a society) is at least as complicated as our relationships with gender, race, and sexuality. The whole damn mix comes into play when it comes to our national "economy"...

This is important work... in more ways than can be listed here. We do it on a shoestring budget. Your support, in whatever form, will help to move us towards a day when those with money do not have ALL the power.

I have worked for over 40 years in the fields of social and economic justice, much of that time as a Supervisor or ED. Now I am devoting my time to actively participating on several national boards that share my values.

UFE is serious about supporting worker and community led efforts toward a more just economy. To accomplish this we need analysis, avenues for promulgating it, constituents who are able to build power and allies of wealth who oppose the rapidly increasing economic inequality. We need to work with all of the groups marginalized by economic inequality with particular attention to women, people of color, immigrants and low wage workers. I am so proud that UFE is doing just this.

The diversity of our donor base reflects their trust in our programmatic commitment.

Working with Robert Reich to preview his recently released film, is an example of the high regard with which UFE is held by nationally known critics of the economic status-quo.

Developing tax fairness legislation supported by former President Jimmy Carter and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin speaks volumes for our capacity to leverage support from people who command national attention.

And being of critical support to the Occupy movement by providing easy to understand economic information via popular education methodologies is but one example of the breadth of our reach.

I am proud to be a member of such a diverse board who bring vision, experience, progressive values and commitment to our shared goals.

UFE is the real deal!

As a UFE board member for the last year and a half, I have been continually impressed by the far-reaching impact of this GREAT non-profit group! UFE has a multi-pronged program that would be ambitious for an organization with a much larger budget. Nevertheless, donors, allies, and constituents (like the union members who utilize its popular education services) get enormous bang for their buck.
At a time when millions of Americans are questioning the impact of economic inequality, gross abuses of corporate power, and the unfairness of our current tax structure, we need two, three, many UFE's to educate, inform, whistle-blow, and help unite diverse foes of the status quo.

This is an organization whose time has come. Every day more and more people(even the media) are noticing and talking about the out of control growth of income inequality. The poor and middle classes are getting poorer, and the already wealthy and corporations are getting much much richer! But UFE and Responsible Wealth have been teaching us about wealth inequality for a couple of decades and doing a splendid job of it. I've recently had to cut my annual donations dramatically. and UFE/Responsible Wealth is one of organizations I feel saddest about letting go of. If there's a windfall in my future, UFE will surely be one of the beneficiaries.

UFE has worked for almost 20 years to achieve greater economic fairness in our country. Their work includes grassroots organizing, organizing within states for state tax fairness, and organizing nationally. And, finally, they work on the Federal level, trying to undo the Bush tax cuts and make our tax structure federally more fair as well. All of this through a strong democratic movement, empowering people. We are gifted to have this organization.
