Mission: The mission of cerebral palsy associations of new york state is to advocate and provide direct services with and for individuals with cerebral palsy and other significant disabilities, and their families, throughout new york state in order to promote lifelong opportunities and choices for independence, inclusion and enhanced quality of life.
Programs: Community living services - we provide a comprehensive community living service program for people in new york city with developmental disabilities, affording them the opportunity to live in an apartment or group home. Specialized living arrangements are available for individuals who also have chronic health conditions. The organization has 368 people living in 78 residences certified as individual residential alternatives (ira) and 76 who live in six residences certified as intermediate care facilities (icf). Included in those totals are four icfs and one ira serving 64 people that provide around the clock, on-site nursing services. There are also four individuals receiving at-home residential habilitation services.
day services - our day services provide an inclusionary program where people are integrally involved in their community and offered an array of services individualized to meet each person's unique needs to learn skills for community living. The programs include opportunities for more than 400 people to participate in integrated, community-based activities, including volunteer opportunities at community sites and participation in community restoration and gardening projects
health care centers (diagnostic & treatment centers) - metropolitan services delivers a wide range of primary and specialty health, medical, and rehabilitative services to meet the health needs of children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. Our organization operates four full-time and two part-time health care centers serving over 2,700 people throughout new york city. In addition to primary care, we provide audiological and dental services, behavioral health services and rehabilitative services including adaptive equipment. Our team of health care professionals, including 32 physicians and dentists, provide health services for people with special needs in a caring and supportive environment. Our year-to-date visits total nearly 57,000.
