Programs: Research the history of the underground railroad (ugrr) in cass county --received additional research for the bonine house research library from another local historian, and local families. Urscc continues to discover and add research to the library as well. --added displays to the african americans and ugrr room including 102nd usct and the journey of the sanders family. Completed current display in the 'bonine family room'.
educate the public about cass county and the underground railroad. --funded the cass county ugrr wax museum financially and with urscc volunteers. Hosted two wax museums at the bonine house. --presented powerpoints cass county and the ugrr and bonine house -- a legacy of freedom to more than 25 organizations, schools and groups throughout the region. --bonine house docents show the house and told the story of the ugrr in cass county to over 500 visitors during our tour season june through october. --8th annual ugrr days attracted over 2000 visitors to learn about the ugrr in cass county through tours, presentations and site visits.
restoration of the james e bonine house and carriage house --continued restoration on the bonine house, replacing the glass block window with an original window and repairing west wall masonry. Carriage house foundation restoration completed, build out windows restored. 'it's time' capital campaign ended successfully.
