Mission: “Under The Bridges and On the Streets” is a 501(c) (3), not-for-profit hands-on service organization. Founded ten years ago, “Under the Bridges” is dedicated to serving the homeless where they live, on the streets, under bridges and in camps. Our purpose is to provide food and clothing to those in need with an awareness of the heart. We are a direct service organization of volunteers who believe in the dignity of the individual and strive to enhance the lives of those we serve as well as those who serve.
Results: We provide nutritious lunches to over 1200 homeless every month. A special aspect of our program is that we physically take food to the homeless, where they live, Under the Bridges and On the Streets. This often takes us into alleys, empty lots and other places where the homeless congregate.
Target demographics: Homeless people, of all ages, on the streets of Los Angeles.
Geographic areas served: Los Angeles, CA
Programs: Nutritious Lunch delivery to the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. We personalize our service whenever possible, whether providing meatless sandwiches for vegetarians, turkey sandwiches for homeless Muslims, or sugar free treats for diabetics.
Another area of service is our yearly program where we deliver toys, cookies, candies and treats on Christmas Day to the Los Angeles County Hospital, USC Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the Hollywood Teen Canteen, serving more than a 1,000 people each Christmas day.
I have been volunteering with Under The Bridges and On The Streets for a couple of years now. The work this organization does is unparalleled.
They make lunches for the homeless and then go into the streets, down the alleys, under the bridges and in abandoned areas of Los Angeles and to deliver those lunches to those that are in need. They also deliver clothing and personal care items when available.
It's an incredible organization that I am proud to be a part of!
