I am very happy to be a part of this organization and to support the work that it does. In particular, I like the program that supports older women in Ukraine who were persecuted during the soviet regime, and suffered in concentration and hard labor camps. They were returned to Ukraine but they lost everything, including their health. The UNWLA has been assisting these older women and other since the 1960's.
I think this is so important that we take care of our older generation.

I joined UNWLA a few years ago, and since the invasion of Ukraine I've been fundraising to help with humanitarian aid there. I am so grateful to be a member of UNWLA, because not only is it a wonderful organization which does so much good, but also is the longest-running of its kind- almost 100 years strong, and provides a network of support, helping Ukraine, and helping our members do so. I know that my fundraising dollars are being put to good work. Because of a strong network in Ukraine and the US, UNWLA knows what is needed in Ukraine, how to get it there, and they often obtain discounts on medical supplies, making the most of donations. UNWLA has low overhead and is very transparent about where the money goes. I also know some of the leadership personally and they have my implicit trust.

I became a member a few years ago and loved the connection with other Ukrainian American women nationally and in Ukraine. Then when russia invaded Ukraine, I began fundraising for humanitarian aid for Ukraine. Donating all my fundraising dollars to the UNWLA, I feel confident- I know the donations are being put to the best use where they are needed. The UNWLA has provided me support in my fundraising efforts as well. There are so many projects between Humanitarian, Cultural, Educational, Advocacy and more. There is excellent leadership, communication, and member support. It is a truly incredible organization and I'm so honored and proud to be a part of it. Photos are of some of the events I've organized or co-organized in support of the UNWLA Humanitarian Aid Fund.
Although I am not a member of the UNWLA, my experience with this organization has been outstanding. Its advocacy, educational resources, and programs have allowed me to more fully understand the needs of the Ukrainian people during wartime and to confidently contribute to on-the-ground UNWLA initiatives. UNWLA is a standout organization.
It takes a village.. but it truly takes a group of dedicated women to accomplish a lot of projects, lead educational events, spread a word about importance of knowing your heritage, your story and history. These Soyuzianky (UNWLA members) are very devoted to their mission to promote Ukraine hence help provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians worldwide. Thank you Pani!
I joined UNWLA in 2011. I have been involved in many projects and have made many freinds. The women in my Branch and in the organization are very freindly, easy to work with and we have a lot of fun working toward a common goal of helping people in Ukraine during this very difficult time. I am proud of the work we have done, cultural exhibits and workshops in multiple libraries in New Jersey and events that we planned that raised money for Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine. I am also lucky that I can get to work with and get to know UNWLA members in other states.
This organization is outstanding in many ways. Educating others about the Ukrainian culture, traditions, and history. Humanitarian aid has been offered in order to help those in need. The UNWLA connects women who continue to build a network and solidarity in order to advocate for causes helping others.
Fifteen months ago when Russia invaded Ukraine I needed to take an action because of my Ukrainian Heritage and my 2006 visit to Ukraine to trace my roots. I became a member of UNWLA, branch 113 and found a place to help the Ukrainian people and nation. Also through newsletters, lectures, programs and meeting other Ukrainian people I am able to learn more about the culture. As a member of Branch 113 I helped raise money to support humanitarian efforts such as Keep Ukraine Warm, Legerta (support of Ukrainian Widows), the Ukrainian Museum. As a new member I now feel that I am standing up for Ukraine in an active manner.
What an amazing experience it has been being a part of this organization! In the short year that I've joined, we have raised money to sponsor a prosthetic arm for a Ukrainian soldier, sent over medical supplies to the frontlines, sent toys to children, helped pay to heat homes in the cold winters and much more. Along with working towards causes that need tremendous help and attention at the moment, it has been a source of pride working alongside such amazing, strong willed women. So happy to have joined this incredible organization!
It has been an honor to serve our community with this amazing group of women. At the grassroots level, our branch has raisied money for Ukrainian humanitarian aid while also raising the profile of the Ukranian American community in our area. At the national level, UNWLA has been instrumental in helping Ukrainian society during this unjust war with particular emphasis on the needs of women, children and the elderly.
I joined UNWLA over 14 years ago when I was looking for a community of like-minded women, who are strong, inclusive, compassionate and believe in having fun while we do important work on behalf of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. I found my home in the UNWLA and now understand why, for nearly 100 years, Ukrainian American women are drawn to this organization. With branches from New England to California, and opportunities to be a member no matter where you live, this is a wonderful organization to belong to.
For an organization to reach almost one hundred years tells a story in itself. Women from all over the US actively contribute their energies to promote the values which significantly raise awareness of the beauty of Ukraine's heritage and culture, while at the same time during this time of war bring essential humanitarian aid to Ukraine with fundraisers. My contributions have been culturally oriented with exhibits, such as the one called "Homestead", which brings the beauty of Ukrainian regional national dress to the American public. Being a member of this organization is an honor.
UNWLA is one amazing organization with nearly a 100 year old history!
It allows you to support the causes that absolutely need your attention, but also allows you to grow and develop as a team and a group of women together!
We have managed to sponsor an arm prosthetic for Ukrainian soldier and also during it build friendships, encourage personal growth and develop needed skills!
I cannot think of more one can desire out of a non profit, ability to help others and also grow and develop as an individual!
Volunteering with the United National Women's League of America (UNWLA) has been an incredibly enriching experience. I had the privilege of digitizing old embroidery patterns from the back covers of their flagship publication, Our Life magazine. Some of them were at least 30 years old!
Being part of the UNWLA's mission to preserve and promote Ukrainian heritage filled me with a sense of purpose. The intricate embroidery patterns symbolize our traditions and Ukrainian identity - core values in the UNWLA. Digitizing these patterns ensured that generations of women after me would marvel at them and use them in their own art.
Throughout the project, the UNWLA provided unwavering support and guidance. From initial overview to the availability of its leaders to answer my questions, they have a wonderful collaborative environment.
Witnessing the final digitized versions of the embroidery patterns was incredibly gratifying. Knowing that these timeless works of art would now be accessible to a wider audience filled me with pride. The UNWLA's commitment to preserving and celebrating Ukrainian culture is commendable.
