Programs: Ukiah valley medical center provides quality medical health care regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay. Although reimbursement for services rendered is critical to the operation and stability of ukiah valley medical center, the organization recognizes that not all individuals possess the ability to pay for essential medical services. Adventist health's vision is to enhance the health of the communities where we live and serve, by engaging our communities and our patients in a new definition of a partnership for personal community health. In keeping with this commitment to serve all members of the community, the following will be considered when individuals who need health care cannot pay:- providing free care and/or subsidized care- providing care to persons covered by governmental programs at below cost- providing health/wellness activities and community education programsnot only does ukiah valley medical center provide low-cost care to individuals covered by government programs and those unable to afford health care, but it also helps patients find and access private and governmental resources for health care benefits. Ukiah valley medical center recognizes below-cost reimbursement as charity and uncompensated care in meeting its mission to the entire community. The unreimbursed value of providing care to these patients in 2016 was $15,730,837. Ukiah valley medical center offers 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, intensive care (including telemedicine), diagnostic services, obstetrical services, rehabilitation services, health education, and more. Ukiah valley rural health center (uvmc's rural health clinic [rhc]) offers outpatient care in the following specialties: allergy, family practice, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, physical therapy, and urology. The rhc also features a periodic cardiology clinic. Inpatient services in 2016 were provided to 3,470 patients. These services included:- babies delivered - 791- surgeries performed - 1,147 - radiology procedures performed - 3,692- laboratory tests performed - 64,332- rehab unit procedures - 8,750outpatient services in 2016 were provided to 257,764 patients. These services included:- emergency room visits - 32,654- outpatient surgeries performed - 5,917- radiology procedures performed - 23,672- laboratory tests performed - 206,275- cardiac catheterization procedures - 1,114- medical clinics visits - 91,232ukiah valley medical center recognizes it has an obligation to provide human services above and beyond its role as a healing facility.
