Mission: The Foundation creates and sustains channels of communication between the United States and Ukraine for the purpose of Building Peace and Prosperity Through Shared Democratic Values. USUF is dedicated to strengthening the mutual objectives of both nations while advancing Ukraine as a cornerstone of regional stability and as a full partner in the community of nations.
Programs: Community Partnerships Program: The project partners 14 Ukrainian communities with 14 American communities to provide administration education and training to local governments in Ukraine.U.S.-Ukraine Policy Dialogue: This two-year program advances constructive dialogue among U.S. and Ukrainian policy makers, public policy experts, and organizations about issues impacting U.S.-Ukraine relations. The program consists of four week-long meetings (two in Washington, DC, two in Kyiv) at which twelve visiting policy makers and issue experts meet one-on-one with twelve counterparts to discuss politics and governance; economics; foreign policy and security; and media and information issues. "ZNAYU!" ("I know!") Ukraine Election Project: An extension of CPP, this short-term project aims to educate voters and local government officials on their rights and responsibilities toward bring about a more credible, transparent and fair election in Ukraine. Znayu! was successfully administered during the 2004 presidential election season and will open again in preparation for the March 2005 parliamentary election. The project also hosts monitoring delegations of former Members of Congress and the European Parliament. Potential: English-Ukrainian journal that fosters U.S.-UKraine business and economic development. Legacy Scholarship Funds: The Foundation manages scholarship funds donated by private individuals for the educational benefit of Ukrainian students. Youth Leadership Program: This annual week-long program introduces college students to the essential elements of U.S.-Ukraine relations through meetings and discussions at some of key institutions in Washington, DC or Kyiv, Ukraine.
