Causes: Human Services, Young Mens or Womens Associations
Mission: The two rivers ymca is a family oriented organization committed to providing spiritual, mental, and physical development and leadership opportunities consistent with christian values for members and constituents through excellence in programs, services, and facilities.
Programs: Youth development: our ymca is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why we help young people cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement. Our ymca programs, such as y winners, y solutions and school age care offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth. Expenses include subsidies and direct financial assistance that make participation possible for all of the young people we engage. In 2017, the y provided $312,900 of financial assistance towards youth development through reduced membership dues and program fees to people who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.
healthy living: the y is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, 19,992 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. In 2017, the y provided $497,300 of financial assistance towards healthy living through reduced membership dues and program fees to people who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.
social responsibility: as an organization, the ymca is socially responsible by providing youth development and healthy lifestyle programs and services for all, regardless of income and abilities. All ymca programs are designed to meet specific community and individual needs. In addition, the ymca is a conduit for providing opportunities for individuals to be socially responsible. We encourage people, corporations, and organizations to support our neighbors with programs that are centered on successful mentoring, volunteerism, fundraising and advocacy. In 2017, over 468 people volunteered through our ymca and 560 individuals and organizations addressed and supported community needs through donations to the ymca.
