Twin Lakes Food Bank is a vital component in our community. In 2014 over 44,000 bags of groceries were distributed. children receive clothing, new shoes, backpacks and socks for Back 2 School and a Turkey or Ham with trimmings are given out during Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. The food bank collaborates with other organizations to prevent duplication of services. In 2016 Twin Lakes Food Bank will celebrate 30 years of serving our community! My family ate dinner tonight because people care! I was hesitant to walk in but we had no choice. We knew we were in the right place when they offered us a seat and a cold drink of water. These people are angels. I can't wait to volunteer and give back.

During the first 2 years of Med School my husband and I found it increasingly difficult to keep food in the fridge. Our parents lived modestly on fixed incomes. I had no one to turn to the day I stumbled upon the food bank. I took the kids to school one morning and after driving around I saw a sign with a heart on it. I took me a while to get my courage up. I went inside and two ladies welcomed me. They explained their services and had me sit for a bit. I'm sure they knew I was devatasted. They didn't judge me or ask me personal questions. The next thing you do is go into a food area and you're asked what your likes are. I was in shock. I left that place feeling something different. I can't explain it, but I'll never look at people in need the same again. My husband is a practicing Doctor. We visit Twin Lakes at least twice a year and deliver food drives from my husband's office and our offering. We look forward to our next visit every time we leave. The volunteers and worker's just as wonderful to us now as they were 7 years ago! Thank you for the most important work in our community!

I have had many people ask me “Why does Folsom need a food bank”. It’s because hunger doesn’t differentiate between how educated you are or where you live. Many people have experienced hard times and don’t know where to turn. For the past 30 years, the Twin Lakes Food Bank has been working to eliminate hunger in our community. Because so many in our community are willing to serve and support the food bank, we are helping to meet those needs on a weekly basis.
The Twin Lakes Food Bank just recently purchased a refrigerated van to not only pick up food from many local retailers, but to deliver fresh food to many of our shut ins. These are people who may not have the means to make it out to the food bank, so the food bank comes to them. It would be awesome if we could eliminate the need for the food bank, but I believe there will always be a need for some support. I thank God for the Twin Lakes Food Bank and those who help to support it.

My family was referred to this food bank. We were devastated trying to keep food in the fridge and making ends meet after I lost my job. My husband's income could not support our family's basic needs. A neighbor told us about the food bank because she volunteers there. I checked it out as a last resort. They made me feel good about where we are in life. I was welcomed with respect and felt the organization was uplifting and full of hope. It's my 3rd time using these services and it's a blessing to me and my family. Thank you to all the caring people that welcome us with no strings attached. This is what I call community. I will give back some day soon.

I was unemployed for nearly 2 years in 2014. At my lowest point in life I was referred to this food bank. Never in a million years did I think I'd need s food bank. Turns out, they not only fed me physically but spiritually too. I left the place with hope and love. I couldn't wait for my next monthly visit! I miss these folks and community leaders. I wish all their dreams come true!!

I volunteered at this Organization over 4 years. It's like family and the clients are treated with dignity and respect no matter where they've been or where they're going. The love is unconditional. I'll never forget the compassion the Director and staff have to a homeless gentleman, Dale. They fed, clothed, cared and helped him get housing for over 2 years. Today, Dale is a full time Contractor who's now married and they own their own home. Dale has tears in his eyes every time he stops by just to say hello and sometimes to give back. It's hard to imagine yourself homeless but once you volunteer with this group of fine folks you're life will not be the same! It's nice to know that people still care about others, unconditionally.
