Mission: Promote the culinary talents of tucson's independently owned and operated restaurants.
Programs: The annual tucson culinary festival is a 4-day event featuring culinary talents from tucson's independently owned and operated restaurants. Festival events include:* the world margarita championship - fabulous food and traditional margaritas;* the reserve tasting - an opportunity to taste small production, boutique wines and specialty dishes;* the grand tasting - a selection of over 100 wines and spirits from around the world, and signature dishes from over 40 tucson original chefs; * the copper chef challenge - dueling chefs, brunch, barbeque, and cocktails. Proceeds from the festival are used to make contributions to local 501(c)(3) charities. In the fiscal year ended april 30, 2011, grants were made to new beginnings for women and children, and diamond children's at university medical center. A grant was also made to tucson originals, an organization of local, independently operated restaurants who are working to preserve the culinary spirit of the tucson community.
