Croix river valley, continued trumpeter watch program, a citizen science program to monitor swan migrations across north america; helped fund multi-year iowa track a trumpeter project; helped fund graduate student research study into breeding success of high plains flock; partnered with the washington department of fish and wildlife and the canadian wildlife service to monitor health of wintering trumpeter swans, identify sources of mortality as to cause and possible locations.
restoration and management: continued the oregon restoration program working with state and federal agencies to restore trumpeter swans to oregon; continued advocacy and agency coordination with federal and state agencies for swan management and coordination to improve conservation measures, protect key habitats, and monitor swan populations; continued participation on swan committees of national flyways; continued rocky mountain population connectivity project to assess and reduce flock isolation; continued monitoring of nesting trumpeter swans in the yellowstone region.
