Mission: Parent baby program-free services education on health, parenting, safety and budgeting counseling for emotional support, material support, clothing, food, diapers and furnishings for baby and home
Programs: Parent and baby program has 10 staff whose efforts are supported and magnified by a large group of dedicated and faithful volunteers. The parent and baby programs primary concern is for the needs of parents and their young children. Tri-city life center provides a 24hr helpline, maternity clothes, food and furnishings for the baby. Parents have an opportunity to earn as they learn to acquire points to earn cribs, carseats, highchairs, diapers, etc. The majority of our clients have low income or are in poverty situations. Our goal is to help them out of their situation by providing them with a resource to obtain jobs and schooling to become self-sufficient.
education and counseling programs are a service at no cost to the client. Education is an important part of our service as we want every client to improve their skills concerning health issues for parent and child, discipline, safety in the home, budgeting, and other categories relating to parent-child relationship. Tri-city life center uses the doctor dad and 24/7 dad education provided by the fatherhood initiative for our client fathers and curriculum for all parents. Confidential counseling is an important aspect of our efforts. It becomes very necessary in dealing with the many issues that arise in family life, financial, relationships, grief, separation issues and other conflicts. Because we show each client unconditional love, acceptance and understanding, they are very open to share with us their pain and critical issues they are dealing with. Through reality therapy we help them deal with the here and now problems. Our relationships with clients are on-going because of mutual trust.
the sexual integrity program gives presentations in middle and high schools throughout the alle kiski valley and westmoreland county. 6 schools have invited sexual integritys team to present to their youth. Sexual integritys team goal is to alert youth about avoiding risky behaviors of sexual activities, stds, drugs and alcohol and to empower them to make healthy life choices. This is done through live interactive activities while providing them with educational information and materials. Approximately 2500 youth and 180 adults have received these materials and presentations in 2011-2012. 65 of students in evaluation gave an excellent rating on the information they received.
