Programs: Recess 360 playworks - recess 360 is a year-long program that trains recess supervisors how to run a structured, engaging, and unified playtime by organizing physical activites and teaching students how to play respectfully and inclusively. Recess training consists of one 2 day workshop, playground equipment for 5 schools, and follow-up consultative visits for each shcool. In 2012, the program served 2600 students in 5 schools.
cppw - the school wellness policy resource center is a partnership with the university of washington center for public health nutrition to improve the quality of both school foods and physical education classes in king county schools through training and technical assistance. The project serves 7 school districts serving over 122,000 students, 60% who are non-white and average 58% low income, some of the highest risk populations for obesity. This project is made possible by funding from the department of health and human services and public health-seattle & king county through the communities putting prevention to work funding.
the washington state healthy schools summit - this is a premier event in washington state focused on preparing current and future school health champions to lead the healthy school movement in their communities. This yearly event serves over 400 attendees from schools across washington state each year. Over a dozen local and state organizations, under the leadership of treeswing, partner to plan this spring event.
