Mission: Trees forever mission is to plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community and promoting stewardship. Our philosophy has always been to involve people in projects that educate them in ways that ensure long term sustainability. For example, trees planted in participating communities have a survival rate of 91%. Trees forever achieves this through cutting-edge programs and innovative practices. Our trained and experienced staff assists and engages an average of 7,000 volunteers, community leaders and landowners across iowa and illinois with thousands of planting projects each year. We do this by engaging volunteers in thorough planning processes that result in projects with the best chance for success, by providing friendly and knowledgeable assistance to community volunteers and leaders who are interested in planting and caring for trees and natural areas, and by working with rural landowners who are committed to planting strips of land with native
Programs: Growing community forests: trees forever helps communities grow and care for their community forests by providing grant funding as well as friendly and knowledgeable assistance to community volunteers and leaders who are interested in planting and caring for trees and natural areas. Trees forever also provide assistance with disaster preparedness planning and recovery as it relates to urban forestry from educationg about tree hazards to replanting the urban forest after the intial crisis has passed. In 2017, 104 projects were awarded funding in communities. This resulted in over 6,939 trees being planted in community forests.
education: trees forever provides numerous educational programs that build participants' knowledge of trees and native plants and how these all work together to add beauty, ecological integrity, health and vitality to our homes, schools, farms, and businesses and the entire community.
planting a healther environment: trees forever works with landowers who are committed to planting native trees and prairie plant species to benefit the land, as well as the larger community. We work with landowners to: implement conservation practices and promote land stewardship to reduce soil erosion, improve water and soil quality,provide wildlife and pollinator habitat, to highlight the ongoing efforts to restore flood plains and to increase the awareness of vegetative buffers and other conservation practices. During 2017, 152 acres of buffers and conservation plantings were funded, with 14,458 trees & shrubs, 2,811 plants and 404 lbs of seed planted through our healthier environment programs.

We do this by engaging volunteers in thorough planning processes that result in projects with the best chance for success. In 2017, over 16 communities benefitted from new funding and continued support for projects,visioning and trails visioning programs.
