Mission: Tree House was founded in 1971 and has since expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, cageless, no-kill shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 15,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Low-cost Spay/Neuter Program, Feral Friends Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.
Avoid at all costs. Seems like a flaky organization and a background check should be conducted about the shelter to make sure that the money goes to take care of pets. I arrived at the shelter 30 minutes before they close, I drove from far away paid much money to get there just to be told that I can’t enter because they close soon and the employees wanted to go home. The waiting area is near the merchandise area because the shelter cares more about selling items than people adopting pets or donating money for the pets. I wanted to make a generous contribution but the staff totally discriminated against me. A shelter who hides their pets on the upper floor and not show their pets to the public, is not credible. Shelter employees who only care about going home early and ignore people who visit are not credible. I donate money on regular basis to pet shelters and it’s the first time I see a shelter that behaves in such manner. Totally insulting and disrespectful. It’s shameful that the employees just want to get home and not care about their animals.
