Mission: Truth is dedicated to recruiting and engaging a new generation of faith leaders from all religious backgrounds to follow in the footsteps of those who have been such a guiding force in past years. These leaders build relationships of trust and understanding with one another. Truth uses shared travel experiences to build understanding, cooperation and trust between religious leaders.
Programs: The director had 27 one to one meetings with religious leaders of a wide variety of faith backgrounds: jewish, christian, muslim, sikh, hindu, bahai, jain, buddist. They are becoming participants in houston interfaith circles in a variety of ways. Truth has been working with two truth board members to build a coalition of interfaith leaders to work with rabbi karff, rev. Lawson, and archbishop fiorenza and carry on their long legacy of community involvement. Truth facilitated three lunch meetings as the group is getting to know each other. Each member (18 at present) committed to having one on one meetings with at least three other attendees. Truth director, rev. Steve quill, spoke at three events: a mosque, a synagogue and a church on a variety of inter faith subjects.
truth worked with aid to victims of domestic abuse (avda) to help faith communities become aware of abuse and how to help victims. We also helped bring diverse religious leaders together with the harris county coalition against domestic violence (hccdv) in these same efforts.
2. The truth director also served on the adl's coalition for mutual respect board in addressing hatred and violence in greater houston.
4. Justice reform continues to be an issue of concern for all faith communities. Working with juvenile justice leaders and criminal justice leaders, we engaged law enforcement and city officials in exploring ways to rehabilitate non-violent offenders and address issues relating to 17 year olds who are considered
