Programs: The east tennessee clean fuels coalition (etcleanfuels) is a nonprofit organization based out of knoxville, tn. That serves all of the eastern half of the state. The etcleansfuels is largely made up of people who live and work in the region who are striving to reduce dependence on oil and improve regional air quality and sustainability. The etcleanfuels's goals are to 1) expand the production and use of alternative fuels here, 2) support all actions that help reduce petroleum use here, 3) help increase the education and awareness of east tennesseans with regard to petroleum and alternative fuels use and 4) be a collaborative partner to all in the region to help achieve success in pursuing the first three goals. Our accomplishments are numerous, but major ones include holding regional meetings to foster accurate information exchange, working on publications that help disseminate regional alt-fuels information, partnering with the state on a number of activities including helping move public stations into the region and putting on biofuel workshops, and working with individual fleets and fuel suppliers to get them becoming regional players in switching away from petroleum alone as transportation fuels. We stand as the main organization in east tennessee that focuses on this one problem and helps businesses and individuals of many different types find ways to change.
