I was emotionally abused at this camp for years by kids and counselors. Very few adults to keep kids in check. One incident of bullying involved a group of girls and two counselors (one of whom was over 18!) waking me up in the middle of the night and forcing me to do humiliating things in their bunk. They crossed the line into the legal definition of sexual assault that night. Don’t send your kids here. The camp cannot protect them.
One of the finest moments of my life during the 1960's. The camp has been tremendously modernized since those times but I will never forget the old barn and the mud under my feet in the "creek"...The Beaver, Jim Khani

The idea was original in 1919, to select a small group of bright, worthy children from the inner city where they lived in crowded tenements with a lack of fresh air and play space and bring them to the country where there were trees and flowers and green grass and clean, fresh air and plenty of room to roam and play. There they would have an opportunity to spend a few weeks of fun and relaxation together away from the pressures of home and city life.
For nearly 100 years Tranquillity has carried on its mission for providing scholarships and affordable tuition for a fresh air summercamp experience to children of all backgrounds. It is a beautiful and amazing place- a one of a kind magical environment in every sense of the word. I was fortunate enough to attend as a child and now my children also go however we happily pay full tuition as well as donate to the camp so that deserving children are able to receive assistance to attend, keeping Tranquillity's mission alive.
