Nonprofit Overview
Mission: Tote Bags of Love is a nonprofit charitable organization that provides a variety of Tote Bags to Individuals in Need, such as, but not limited to: Children, Military/Veterans, Our Less Fortunate (Homeless Individuals), and Seniors. We repurpose the unwanted and make it into the useable. Which is than given to those in need. This is done by using donated plastic weave feed and grain bags to make Weather-Proof Tote Bags and discontinued upholstery fabric samples from furniture stores to make our Multi-Use Tote Bags and Mini Duffel bags. Our Multi-Use Tote Bag can be used on a wheel chair, walker, medical bed, baby stroller, as cinch bag, and/or a back pack. Tote Bags of Love motto is Made with Love, Filled with Love and Giving with Love. The tote bags are made with love by volunteers. They are filled with needed articles that have been donated by caring individuals. They are given to individuals in need by individuals and/or organizations who want to reach out to the community and help others. All this is accomplished by the generosity of individuals, organizations, and companies within our community. Currently, Tote Bags of Love is looking to accomplish 2 goals. The first is to get the word out to the community that Tote Bags of Love exists and what we are trying to accomplish. The second is to partner with community minded organizations and people that will aid Tote Bags of Love to be able to accomplish our motto Made with Love, Filled with Love and Given with Love. Results: In 2015 Tote Bags of Love brought the community together at 41 Production Events. The results of these events were the following. – Over 500 Weather Proof Tote Bags that have been given to various shelters throughout Macomb County, various churches holding MCREST, given to various organizations that will be passing them out to our homeless community and halfway houses for our veterans. – Over 200 Multi-Use Tote Bags were given to seniors, young parents, children, and veterans. – Over 200 Hand-Tied Fleece Blankets that were given to Macomb Charitable Foundation to give to homeless children – We have donated 313 mini duffel bags to the Women Marines Association for the February 14, 2015 event that will was held at the Romeo Masonic Temple. In addition, we have donate over 300 full size Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash that will be put in the mini duffel bags at the event. Women Marines Association will be sending these and other items overseas to our military. – Adopted a family for the holidays and gave the following. o 3 Visa Gift Cards to be use as needed by the family with a value over $1,200.00 o Every child had several Christmas presents and so did the parents. Some of the gifts consisted of a new winter jacket, snow pants, long johns, shirts, pants, etc. o In the category of food o 40 lbs. of boneless and skinless chicken breast o 2 very large pork lions o Bags of nonperishable food items – various types of canned goods, pasta, so very much more…… o Several bags of household items – case of toilet paper, case of garbage bags, boxes of Kleenex, cleaning supplies, etc. Spread the word about Tote Bags of Love by either speaking at or attending 21 organization’s events.
