Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: The Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition International (TASSC) is the only organization founded by and for Survivors of torture. The mission of TASSC is to end the practice of torture wherever it occurs and to empower Survivors, their families and communities wherever they are.
Results: We have a newly renovated house that will be able to provide housing for more than 15 Survivors! We will now be furnishing it and then it will be ready for Survivors to move in!
Target demographics: Survivors of torture from the U.S. and all over the world, main office is in Washington, D.C. with International Communities of Healing all over the U.S. and abroad.
Programs: Helping Hands- provides direct services for Survivors to become self-sufficient and re-establish trust in themselves and others; International Communities of Healing- Provides a safe forum for Survivors to process their experiences and form a healing bond with other Survivors; Truth Speakers- encourages Survivors to speak out about their experiences and raises awareness of issues in the public; Campaign to End Torture- works for the end of torture through activism, education, and accountability.
