Wow! The money gets well spent, and the people spending it get valuable feedback from the attention to detail that Kathy Weir provides in Ghana for many months of each year.

I had the most amazing experience volunteering with Tomorrow's Stars. At first, I was very hesitant about traveling to Ghana, but Kathy, from Tomorrow's Stars, provided a great deal of support through emails and phone calls in preparing me for this experience. Since she travels to Ghana twice a year, she is directly involved with the volunteer projects in Elmina. Kathy met me at the airport, and the next day we made the three hour trip to Elmina. I stayed at a volunteer lodging, Stumbles Inn, which was right on the beach. It was great to stay at a place with other volunteers. I was able to take drumming lessons there and on the weekends they had incredible Ghanaian dance performances. It was about a 20 minute walk to the Bantuma School, where I volunteered. I was able to pull small groups of children into the library(one of Kathy's projects) to work on phonics and comprehension skills. The children are beautiful and amazing- eager to learn, appreciative of the support and very joyful. The teachers were very appreciative of the volunteers at the school. Ghana really does have the friedliest people ever! I also had the opportunity to visit the Cape Coast Slave Castle, Kakum Park and a few other sites on the weekend. I would highly recommend volunteering with Tomorrow's Stars! It was a life-changing experience for me and I hope to return next year.
