CareNet fills in the health gaps that our community desperately needs during times of uncertainty. The collaboration and coming together of the healthcare community to offer support to those that don't fit traditional molds is vital to the health of our community. Thanks CareNet for going above and beyond to insure support when its needed most.
I work at the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio. In my role, I have met all of the Community Health Workers who work at Toledo/Lucas County CareNet and I work with their Director. Their dedication to improving the lives of others is unsurpassed. They are not just compassionate but extremely resourceful in linking their participants to necessary health care, social services and education programs.
I had been without insurance for more than 3 years when I found out about CareNet. In that time I had put off going to the Doctor's and not taking my medications because I could not afford to go. I went to the ER only if I felt I had no other recourse to take.
As someone who is in need of medical care due to my health issues (just a few = Fibromyalgia, Migraines, and Arthritis) that was a very trying time in my life. CareNet has been a blessing and such a huge help to me, and I have been able to medically get back on track.
Having people stand with you in trying to figure out what is wrong, instead of just trying to shove pills at you, or tell you that you aren’t worth fighting for…well, it’s just amazing! I honestly can not thank them enough.
I love that CareNet provides support to not only myself, but also to the local community. There is just no other resource for people like me who fall through the cracks
CareNet has been invaluable to our family. My boyfriend was laid off and having problems with his eyes. CareNet was able to find a volunteer ophthalmologist to see him and then linked my boyfriend to another organization which provided him with free prescription glasses. His headaches went away and he had no difficulty with his next placement test for work. He's now employed with private health insurance!
As one of the few collaborative efforts in the country, Toledo Ohio hospitlas have joined together to donate healthcare to adults who can not afford to pay and do not qualify for federal programs. Doctors also donate their time to care for CareNet members. Since 2003 nearly 20,000 Lucas County residents have benefitted from more than $100 million of coordinated healthcare services. Every dollar donated to CareNet leverages $50 of healthcare services for people in need. It's a healthy return on everyone's investment.
