The impact of T!AN has helped the young to the youthful through theater to gain knowledge, break down societal barriers regarding AIDS/HIVS and the impact of knowing your personal status.
T!AN provides excellent education and opportunities to small rural communities!! During my 27month Peace Corps Service, I was able to volunteer with T!AN members and collaborate with Malawi's Medical Officers to support T!AN's initiaive by allowing their very own certified HIV counselors to join T!AN's mission in mitigating the spread of HIV/AIDS. They donated supplies and the medical support needed in rural villages without access, tools, or the education necessary to inspire communities to END stigmas and support one another by leading healthy lifestyles and getting tested! T!AN not only changed my life but has empowered communities to come together, benefiting the lives of teenagers, expecting mothers, children, and families!
I volunteered with T!AN on a family trip to Malawi and got to see some really amazing work happening. The play about HIV was really impactful. You could see the entire audience engaged and listening and then to see so many people getting tested for HIV afterwards was incredible. They have a wonderful grassroots organization that does a lot with a very little.
Having served on multiple boards I have found that Together! ACT Now sets its self apart by truly focusing on the people that the program serves. The board meetings are always about how we can best utilize resources to help the wonderful communities in Malawi that lack so much access to knowledge and medical procedures that we consider a right within America. I can say only amazing things about the board members, volunteers, donors and the program itself. I have seen real change happen within whole villages because of Together! ACT Now. Stigmas surround HIV have been broken, people are free to openly discuss the effects HIV/AIDS have had on them and their families where they wouldn't have before. People now know their HIV status and are on ARV medicine. All thanks to the tireless effort of Together! ACT Now.
