We’ve been volunteering with To Love a Canine for close to 8 years. I’ve never met a group of more caring, dedicated, and passionate people. If a dog and potential adopter don’t “fit” for any reason, TLC will work to find the right family and dog, to ensure a successful adoption. This rescue goes above and beyond to help dogs in need.

I volunteer with TLC Rescue, and have never met a group of more dedicated, trustworthy, and compassionate people.
super passionate and organized group of dog lovers! I adopted one of my dogs from TLC and foster/volunteer regularly. I've always had a great experience with the adoption process and the enthusiasm that the entire group has for saving dogs and connecting people to do good for the community.

TLC is an amazing group of dog lovers who are focused on saving all types of dogs. I've been involved for 4 years now with fostering and volunteering and even adopted one of my dogs from the organization. Because this is a100% foster based org, all of the dogs go into their new forever homes and have an easier adjustment to their new families than those straight out of a shelter environment. Some of our dogs even come potty trained and basic obedience trained!
The first event I attended as a volunteer was the 2023 Miles for Mutts, where I helped at the registration table. That initial experience opened my eyes to just how impactful our fundraising efforts are in supporting the mission.
Volunteering for To Love a Canine Rescue has been the most rewarding experience of all my volunteer work. TLC goes above and beyond to ensure their fosters are cared for in every way. We take great care in matching our dogs with adopters to give them the best life.
Beyond the joy of helping dogs find their forever homes, my experience has been deeply enriched by the incredible camaraderie among volunteers. The supportive, collaborative spirit within the TLC community is truly something special—and of course, the occasional doggy kisses are a sweet bonus that never fails to brighten my day.
As a volunteer and foster for TLC, I recently had the privilege of fostering a Great Pyrenees that was found in a barn in Mississippi only weighing 38lbs and unable to lift her head. A wonderful foster in the south nursed Elsa back to health enough for her to make the transport to TLC. My husband and I took her into our home in February, and with the help of our dog, Cody, she learned how to be a dog. We carefully helped her to gain weight and confidence. She was adopted in mid April, but returned by her adopter after only a week. Elsa was welcomed back into our home and it was like she never left. Since then she has gone to a different foster and is adjusting well. TLC will keep working vigilantly until she finds her perfect forever home, regardless of how long it takes!! “Until they all find a home” is TLC’s motto, and we stand behind it 100%.

About 7 yrs ago I lost both of my dogs within 8 months. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to adopt another so I began fostering for TLC. They are a wonderful organization that goes above and beyond for their foster pups. I have fostered over 50 pups since, two of them being foster fails. TLC provides everything you need for your fosters. They are very careful in making sure that the dogs and adopters are a good fit. They do alot of fundraising to make sure we can save more and more dogs. I can’t say enough about TLC. I recommend them to all friends and family!!!!
We were blessed to find this rescue. The volunteers are amazing and the rescue is so well organized. They provide such incredible support throughout the adoption process and after adoption. We adopted a dog through them and it was the best experience we have ever had with a rescue.
After I lost my Jack Russell, I needed to find a way to be with dogs, which is how I got involved with TLC. To see how we can all make a difference to optimize the quality of life for these pups who need us is incredible. TLC makes fostering pups so easy- from providing all the essentials, preventative meds, and toys for them to play with. TLC also introduced me to my foster fail, who I can’t imagine life without.
I am extremely passionate about volunteering for To Love a Canine (TLC) Rescue and for what they stand for. I enjoy all the different options to volunteer, from fostering, transport team, application team, adoption team, newsletter team and more. We are also always provided with opportunities to further our education and knowledge. As volunteers we also enjoy the opportunities we have to spend time together on a personal level. We firmly believe on working until they all have a home.
We adopted from TLC in 2023 when we moved to the area. We loved that they had meet and greets so you could actually get to know the personality of the dog you were adopting, rather than just seeing them online. We applied for one dog but met another at an event and fell in love. Shortly after adopting her, we decided to get involved and it has been one of the best decisions yet!
TLC is an amazing foster based rescue. These pups are all so loved and cared for. We fostered and also found our pup, Loki, with TLC. We cannot thank TLC enough for bringing him into our family!
To Love A Canine Rescue is one of the most caring dog rescues anyone can be associated with whether you are a volunteer, a foster, or an adopter. The effort of everyone involved is tireless and they have fun doing it. The name of the organization could not be more appropriate.
Best rescue! I’ve worked with a few other local rescues that felt like they were just throwing darts and seeing what worked whereas TLC offers passion and true caring for fosters and dogs.
While I was on facebook, I had seen adopt a pet and through them, I came across to love a canine rescue. I had seen a dog and his name was Opie. The minute I saw him, I thought how incredibly cute and adorable he looked. I knew then I had wanted to give him a wonderful life and save him from an uncertain future!! My husband and I have had Opie for a month and a half. He turned 2 in September and is so incredibly, playful, lovable, energetic and smart. He has transitioned beautifully into our home and absolutely loves sitting and laying in the sunroom watching all the birds and squirrels flying and running around. Opie loves belly rubs too!! My husband and I take him for long walks throughout the day, play with him, take him on car rides and fun stroller rides as well. We enrolled him in an adult class where he is learning many commands as well as getting socialized with other dogs. I believe it was meant for us to be together forever. We love him very much and want to thank to love a canine rescue for saving him so that he could find his forever home.
We adopted our boy Sully fka Wexford as a 10 week old pup in March 2019. We felt the TLC team had so much passion for rescue We wanted to volunteer to be part of the team. We jumped in feet first with 2 puppies. 62 dogs later we are still as committed to TLC. We have made many great like minded friends.
I have been volunteering with TLC Rescue for almost a year and I am continually amazed with the dedication I see with everyone I volunteer with in this organization. The directors are tirelessly working to ensure the dogs and foster families have everything they need. It starts with securing a foster home for the dogs arriving in the transport, the medical care, the love and support each dog needs to adjust, training, volunteer taxis to adoption events and supplies. Giving back to the community by sharing these adorable dogs with visits to nursing homes and schools. We have multiple adoptions every week after adoption application reviews and adoption appointments to ensure the chosen dog and family is a good match. TLC Rescue is saving thousands of dog’s lives and I’m honored to be part of it.
We started our family when we adopted Fettuccine in January of 2019. Now two kids, and dozens of foster dogs later and TLC has become a big part of our lives. There are a lot of heartbreaking, unforgiving aspects of animal rescue, but the people involved with TLC relentlessly advocate for the well being of the dogs. They are in the fight every day to give these animals a loving home. Best decision we ever made.
I’ve been involved with TLC for almost a year now. When I say it’s hands down the best rescue I’ve worked with, I’m not kidding. The standard of care they give these pups is beyond anything I’ve seen. They pay for surgeries, heartworm treatments, spay/neuters, expensive medications, anything to make these pups feel better. They go above and beyond for fosters and volunteers, providing toys, food, crates, meds, treats, cones, beds, the list really goes on and on.
I speak both as an adopter and volunteer when I recommend this place. The adoptions AND foster teams are stellar and always willing to help solve any problem. I will forever be thankful for TLC and everybody involved.
I've been associated with TLC since its second year. This wonderful canine rescue doesn't just help dogs, it helps, supports, trains, encourages, and consoles their volunteers. It differs from other rescues in the support it gives its volunteers and adopters - I don't think first time dog owners and fosters don't get how important that is. God bless other rescues for taking dogs out of shelters and getting them into homes, but TLC does it right. The compassion and "right fit" mentality is high at this rescue. The fosters are informed and share the truth about the dogs personality and situation. It is not a just a revolving door, or stop over, it is a true transition situation to get the dogs acclimated to human love and understanding and wanting the best outcomes for the dogs.
There is a testament on this site from Lily's adopters. I was Lily's (Sweet Louise) foster during her year long medical treatments (after she was at the foster who helped her through weanling her babies). While I had fostered, I had never had the medical angle to deal with and the rescue was there when I had questions and concerns. As much as I loved her, knowing that she was in a home that loved her and for her would have nothing associated with any of her trauma or pain was the best feeling. TLC made that happen. And all the dogs who have graced me with their company for short or longer periods have made a difference in my life. And even now, or maybe more now, that I'm just a passive member of the TLC community without actively volunteering, I am so impressed with the way this team treats the dogs, the shelters they work with, the volunteers, the donors, and even the onlookers.

I fostered or taxied some of the dogs the adopters mentioned in their reviews above and even if I had only had them for one night, every foster has given me something precious no one else could have given me.
This organization is set up in a way that puts the dogs first by supporting the fosters and the adopters. You can feel confident about rescuing your family member, you can feel good that they had transitional help and maybe some training while in foster care, and you know that the rescue not just follows the rules and regulations for being a rescue, but does it because they believe being certified and doing all that is necessary is in the best interest of dogs and their future family members. The staff and volunteers are amazing and the dogs are even more amazing.
I have been involved with TLC Rescue as a volunteer, adopter, and foster since 2019, and can attest firsthand that the organization's tagline of "Until they all have a home..." is more than just words. It's the code by which they operate. I've seen the difference that the group makes in the lives of not only the dogs they have saved but also the people and communities that they serve.
To Love A Canine in SE Pennsylvania is fabulous. I have fostered eight dogs through them. They are incredibly supportive & helpful with new fosters. Their continued dedication to fostering until they all have a furever home is impressive. Picture included are furkids who all have furever families thanks to TLC.
We started volunteering with TLC during the pandemic as fosters for adoptable dogs. Partly to see how our kids would handle the responsibility of dog ownership and partly to vet out the organization. Three years later we are still volunteering at events even after we adopted our own pup because we feel good about being a part of a worthy cause. This organization truly cares about getting the right home for the dog and the right dog for the owners. It’s not about getting the dogs in and out the door fast.
We adopted our dog from TLC 3 years ago, and couldn't have been happier with the process! They thoroughly look into all potential adopters, contact vets and references, conduct interviews, etc. To make sure they're adopting out to people who will really love and care for their dogs. They also counsel and advise people on what dogs would be a good fit for them and make sure that both the families and the dogs are set up for success. They don't charge for adoption applications, like some places do, because they don't want people to think they're in it for the money (because they definitely aren't!) TLC provides support and access to resources like dog trainers for the dog's whole life, because they don't stop caring once the dog has been adopted and leaves their care.
I've been fostering for them for a few months now and it's made me appreciate TLC even more. The constant, basically 24/7 support they have for their foster families is incredible. They provide everything you could need for a dog: food, treats, beds, crates, toys, etc. They make sure all dogs get the best veterinary care, and don't shrug off anything, even as small as an upset tummy. And once they commit to a dog, they're in it for life. Even if they end up having heartworms, or cancer, or need multiple expensive surgeries. They ensure the only burden on the foster families is to love and care for the dog, which is the easiest part! And they are still always thanking their fosters: for fostering, for picking up the dog's meds, for showing their dog off at events. They truly appreciate every little thing their fosters and volunteers do, even though we all do it for the same reason: the dogs.
They truly go out of their way to get the fur babies the best home that they possibly can. The vetting out process is thorough and they do try to get the best match for the dog & family. It’s so nice to see that they are trying to help as many dogs as they possibly can.
I first heard of To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. (TLC) in 2015 when we adopted a dog from this rescue. The process was easy and the people were so helpful and kind. We learned that TLC offers the opportunity for children to volunteer and to learn about puppy and dog care and the rescue process through their Mini Paws program. My children joined. That's a brilliant program! It's fun and educational for the children while introducing the youth to a love of animals and love for volunteering with actual hands-on experience. Several years later, my younger daughter and I became official TLC volunteers, donating our time at transports and events. None of this is remarkable, I know, but I'm getting there. After adopting that first TLC dog in 2015, the importance of animal rescue became a passion of mine. I started a program where I invite animal shelters and animal rescue organizations to set up their tents and tables, bring some adoptable animals, promote their organizations, and get exposure to the public. Through my program, I work with many animal rescues. TLC is so different from the others. From the outside, most rescues do seem very similar. I have the insight to see the differences. TLC is extremely well organized and, therefore, productive and successful. There are so many dedicated volunteers whose work and time allow for the operation to run smoothly. When dogs arrive on a transport from the South, there are volunteers to welcome the dogs with patience and love while other volunteers are vetting each of the new arrivals. Then the foster volunteers arrive to pick up their new pups. The fosters bathe the dogs and give them a cozy, safe, loving home for as long as needed. During this time the foster families teach basic commands, crate training, house training, and socializing. TLC participates in MANY events where potential adopters can meet available dogs. Foster volunteers often attend these events. If scheduling does not allow the foster to attend, TLC has volunteers who will taxi a dog to/from an event and volunteer handlers who will attend the event to be in charge of a dog. In addition to "meet-and-greet" events, TLC takes puppies to visit local schools and senior centers. These events are done not for a puppy to be seen and adopted, but simply to bring joy. There are volunteers who screen adoption applications, volunteers who do laundry, volunteers who clean, volunteers who handle the most adorable and creative social media. It's all so well organized. Before any of this can happen, TLC coordinates with rescues and shelters in the South, where dogs and puppies are most at risk of euthanasia, to bring as many of those dogs and puppies to Pennsylvania where they find the perfect loving forever homes. I know there is so much more that happens behind the scenes and my personal experience is only the tip of the iceberg. I wish many of the other rescues with whom I work were so well organized! As a TLC volunteer, I know how fun every volunteer event is. We all genuinely enjoy each other's company. There is a climate of teamwork and togetherness. My family recently adopted our third dog from TLC. We were open minded while looking for our next puppy, looking at available dogs at other rescues. Once again, TLC was the perfect fit. I share this experience with you as both a volunteer and a client served and maybe even a little bit of a professional with expertise in this field. I think it's the combination of being so well organized, having so many committed volunteers, and having an organization made up of genuinely good people that makes To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. so very special.
I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of TLC rescue. Additionally, I have volunteered in many aspects over the years from events, processing applications, fostering and adopting. My business is also a top sponsor of TLC Rescue's Miles for Mutts event. I try to support this rescue in any way possible as it helps so many people in the community and gets dogs adopted.

I have volunteered with TLC since the rescue was first created. I have been involved in many aspects from event lead, volunteer training, foster support, fostering, and even adopting. As a canine behavioral therapist I have worked with many clients who have adopted from TLC and other rescues. The difference in my clients experiences who have adopted from rescues other than TLC does not come close to the experiences my clients have who did adopt from TLC. TLC volunteers go above and beyond to make sure people have a good fit with the dog they are adopting. TLC offers support after the adoption to make sure the dog stays in that home. I wouldn't want to be apart of any other rescue.
My husband and I volunteered at TLC Rescue for years. They're a well-run organization that does a lot of good for the community. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful group of people!
I am a foster and volunteer with TLC, and I have been working with them for 3 years now. I can honestly say it's such a great organization, full of loving individuals who want to make the world a better place one day at a time.
I adopted my pup from TLC about 10 months ago. The process was quick and easy and the staff helped to answer all of my questions, before and after adoption. I've since become a volunteer and am very impressed with TLC's overall organization of events, communication, flexibility with all their volunteers and all the great community events they do. Wonderful group doing amazing work!
This is a top-notch nonprofit organization. I am a foster for this rescue and I can vouch for them. All dogs or come through this rescue are treated with Atmos care and love. I am proud to be a part of this organization.
We adopted Ivory, now Dolly, when she was estimated to be 4 years old. She is now 12. We found a loving dog who fit right into our family. Dolly and our two year old grand daughter who lived with us fell in love. The most wonderful part was that Dolly’s gentle personality fit us perfectly!
I have been an outside partner, a foster, an adopter, and a volunteer on both digital and in-person event teams. This is the most welcoming organization I’ve ever worked with. I cannot say enough good things about it from top to bottom. I have felt supported and educated at every step of the way and I commend this team for all they do. This is an amazing organization to adopt from as well! Thank you for all you do, TLC!
I volunteer, foster and have adopted from TLC. What a great organization! They make sure the pup gets the best life! Overall great experience and organization!
I can’t recommend TLC enough ! They are AMAZING! I adopted my girl in 2018 and then started volunteering , and when I finally bought a house , I started fostering.
TLC is great through the adoption process.
TLC is also AMAZING to volunteer for , you will be welcomed with open arms into a community of people who you will love like one big extended family. TLC also provides SO much support to it’s fosters from picking your foster dog up to go to the vet , giving you all the supplies you’d need , and training tips.
I really can’t say enough about this organization and the impact it’s made on my life!
They love their volunteers and never fail to recognize them no matter how big or small their participation is.
I volunteer at To Love a Canine and it is a amazing organization. They go above and beyond for all their dogs. The people that work their do it because they love it and you can tell. I am so greatful to just be a small part of an amazing organization.
We adopted our pup through TLC about 5 years ago and still follow on all social media. They were fantastic through the whole adoption process and we enjoy seeing all the updates on all the pups
I’ve adopted, fostered, and volunteered with this group. They’re the best! It’s a wonderful group of individuals who truly care and want the best lives for all dogs!
I have fostered for To Love a canine since 2019 and have since started helping with events and in other areas. They are a great rescue with an awesome mission.
Seeing the dogs come off their freedom ride is eye opening. TLC is a fostering organzation and these dogs completely change once they get here.
TLC is an awesome rescue group. We first adopted Bodhi (Daddy Warbucks) as a puppy. He is now one year old and we couldn’t love him more. Smart, funny, adorable and a sweet addition to our family. We recently adopted our 2nd dog from TLC, Fred (Phoenix), who is 9.5 years old. He is a sweet, sweet boy who we love as much as Bodhi. The reason TLC is so awesome, they put so much care into their rescues. They are fostered and receive excellent vet and volunteer care. Fred (Phoenix) especially came from horrific conditions. They nursed him back to health and made sure he was ready for his forever family. The dogs are clean, up to date on all shots and anything they need. The people you encounter from TLC are wonderful, caring, kind and concerned who want nothing but the best for these animals.
I adopted a Bishon. She is 7yrs old. Thank God that you saved her and put her in a wonderful Foster home. She is a great dog. I am so fortunate to have her. I have two older dogs and they all love each other . Unfortunately I live in a senior home. I am only allowed three dogs. I thank you very much for my little girl Daisey. I consider my self very lucky. You do a great job! Will always be supportive.
TLC is the real deal! We rescued our dog from them in November 2020, and from that experience I knew I wanted to volunteer for them. It’s an amazing organization that has the most kind and committed folks involved. They have something for everyone and are so we’ll organized. I’m really proud to be a volunteer for such a wonderful group.
I started volunteering with TLC in the fall of 2021, and have been continually impressed with the entire team. Everyone at TLC is fully committed to the mission, and they make sure new volunteers feel like a part of the team right away - it truly feels strange to say "they" when I really think of TLC as "we". They'll work with anyone who wants to help to find the best fitting job and to make sure that they have the tools and support needed to be successful. I've worked with and volunteered for a ton of non-profit organizations, and have never seen anyone do more with less in the way TLC does. Just an outstanding organization all around.
We’ve both adopted dogs and fostered through this organization and have only the best things to say about it. Fostering allowed us the unique opportunity to look behind the curtain and see the inner workings of this rescue. Doing so only impressed us further. We recommend To Love a Canine to anyone looking for a new dog or to help out through fostering.

In 2016, we adopted our first fur baby from To Love a Canine Rescue and so appreciated the care they took throughout the adoption process. We valued that they are a foster-only rescue and that they follow up regularly to see how both the dogs and humans are doing. My husband and I continued to follow the rescue on social media and would often share favorite pups and video with each other and loved to check out the weekly Happy Tails adoption announcements. Earlier this year, we read of the urgent need for most fosters and we decided to begin fostering with To Love a Canine. Our love and respect for this organization has grown tenfold as a result. We get to see all of the behind the scenes efforts to save as many dogs as they can, as well as support their volunteers throughout the foster and adoption process. The team is filled with strong advocates for dogs and creating wonderful “furever” homes for each dog they save.
My husband and I adopted 2 dogs from TLC and they’ve changed our lives for the better! One has been successfully task trained as my service dog and I have so much freedom and independence thanks to them, and TLC for adopting him out to me. He’s my life line and both very good pups will have a furever home with us.

This nonprofit has a special place in my heart. Not only did they bring me together with my best girl, Brioche. They have also welcomed me with open arms as a volunteer at events, transports, and most recently as foster. I love TLC and all of the work they do!
TLC is AMAZING!!! We started fostering and volunteering for TLC in March 2020 and we became a part of something so wonderful. TLC provides the most excellent care for their pups. The volunteers pour their heart and soul into these dogs everyday all day. The dogs in TLCs care are truly family until they find their forever homes. We were lucky enough to “foster fail” one of our dogs August and couldn’t be happier. TLC is amazing in every way!!
We have been fosters for this amazing rescue for 4 years, but the highlight has been the support of the community as we most recently foster failed a few months ago. Our incredibly scared and heartworm positive foster dog received the utmost care and support from countless volunteers. Through our numerous foster, when vetting is needed, they make certain a dog is seen and every adoption application is checked to make certain it is the best match for both dog and family. Every dog is special and every volunteer appreciates. TLC Rescue is really the best of what’s around.
I joined this non profit after a friend of mine adopted a dog from them and had a wonderful experience. We had just lost our elderly dog and were looking for a way to help other dogs in need. We have since fostered 8 dogs for them (including one that we adopted from foster) and have had nothing but positive experiences. This organization truly cares about their dogs and people.
We adopted our dog Jenny from TLC as a special needs senior dog and she was the best addition to our family. TLC volunteers are great with communication and truly love each animal that comes through the organization. I've been fostering with them since January 2020 and have loved every minute of it! What a wonderful rescue of committed dog lovers.
TLC is the best!! Everyone wants what is best for the dogs which is how it should be. Thank you TLC for all that you do!

I adopted my dog from TLC in 2016 and began fostering in 2017. I’ve been on both sides of the rescue - as an adoptee and a volunteer - and I am so impressed with this organization! I love that all of the dogs stay in foster homes. Most of them come from very poor shelter conditions and our fosters give them a taste of what it means to be warm, cozy and loved until they find their forever home. The folks who run this organization ALWAYS do what is best for the dogs they rescue. I’m so glad I found TLC!
We met this adorable pup at a meet and greet in Feb. 2020. (Little did we know how the world would change in the next month.) To Love a Canine had already approved us to be adopters. We submitted our application online, our references were checked within a couple of days so we just needed to meet our new best friend. Once we met Logan, we arranged an adoption appointment. TLC made sure we were a good fit for her and she was a good fit for us. We took her home after that meeting and will celebrate her 2nd birthday on Nov 7.
A horrible, tearful experience.
These people told my dear friend, who finally got past his grief over the loss of his beloved dog, that he was an approved adopter. He found the perfect match, asked if it was alright if he took a couple days to ready his apartment for the puppy, Vana, and they said it would be fine. He asked for assurance that the pup would not be given away, and they said to send an email confirming the adoption, which he did at 11:15.
I asked if I could be assured that the pup would not be given away later, and they told me to send an email to them confirming the adoption, which I did, at 11:15.
He went home to fix his apartment, emailed later on to find out when and where on Tuesday, only to find that HIS PUP HAD BEEN GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE.
The President told him that it was My friend’s fault. First she said that I was not a approved adopter – false. Then she said that they don’t accept reserving a pet for a later adoption – another lie!
She never admitted that they had made a horrific mistake, and never apologized for make the mistake. These people look out for themselves, and not the animals. If they did care, Vana would have gone to my friend, who has experience raising therapy dogs. I can’t think of any reason they would choose anyone over him, especially after making a promise.
Shame on these people. If you’re looking for a Boxer breed, go to a Boxer rescue. Not these lying heartbreakers.
(Attached is a photo of Vana. Can you imagine bonding with this sweet puppy, only to have her taken from you? What a terrible place. I only hope the animals are treated kindly.)
We recently adopted our now 7 moth old pup from TLC in the midst of the Pandemic. He has been an active and wonderful member of our family. We really appreciated all the info we received from his foster mom, Karen, the week before we took Charlie home . (He was originally called Ringo). His foster mom was the one who let us know that the Lab/Collie label might not be too accurate as Charlie is much more a lab/bassett hound mix. He has huge paws and stubby legs and the head of a lab! The trainer we spoke with early on from TLC was also very helpful. A wonderful organization and we are grateful!
I've been a foster for To Love a Canine for 6 months now. It has been an incredible experience. Every single person in the organization wants the best for every single dog they meet. I've fostered 7 dogs and all have found great furever homes. I am fostering my 8th and am about to foster fail.
Professional, knowledgeable and clean! Friendly and very willing to help all fosters, volunteers and applicants!
In March my husband and I fostered a pregnant mama dog through TLC rescue. A few days after she came to us, she gave birth to 12 puppies. In the first week, all 12 thrived. But on the seventh day of their lives, we lost one of the puppies. We weren't sure why, but figured with a litter that large it was almost inevitable. Three days later, we lost two more puppies. A few days after that, two more became sick. At this point we knew it was something specific that was killing them, so we took them to a vet. She diagnosed them with distemper, put them down, and told us that the rest of the puppies were going to die and there wasn't really anything we could do about it. But we couldn't take that for an answer. At that point, TLC offered for us to take the puppies to an emergency vet in the area. The emergency vet ran some tests and as it turns out, it was not distemper, but some kind of infection. We were able to save 5 of them, which was more than we thought we would end up with after being told we would lose them all. The experience of figuring out what was wrong with these babies was heartbreaking and brutal, but TLC really stepped up and made sure we were able to save as many of them as we could, no matter the cost. Once they were old enough for adoption, the puppies went to incredible families who all stay in touch. My brother adopted one of the puppies, and my parents are adopting the mama dog. This experience changed my family's life in so many ways, and it's all thanks to TLC.
I have started fostering with TLC and they are kind and supportive. They are top-notch when it comes to organizing and bringing in their transports. Great team. Foster Coordinator is on top of it and always calling to check-in. They acted quickly when my second foster needed surgery. They will listen to the foster's ideas and thoughts about the dog and work with the foster. They also understand the importance of the foster family meeting the adoptive family. Staying in contact with the adoptive family gives the dog a smooth transition from foster home to furever home. I love this rescue. ~Sue Casper
Never have I witnessed such a group like TLC. From volunteers straight on down to administration, it’s a class A act. This group of people does such an amazing job rescuing dogs and finding them homes. Nobody is happy until all their rescued pets find homes. Timeless efforts witnessed on this great organization.!
Best Rescue Ever!!! Very professional! Evaluates and responds to applications quickly and fairly. Takes great steps to match up the right dog with each adopter. 100 % foster based so can pass on behavioral information. I personally have adopted 2 adult dogs and 1 puppy from them. GREAT rescue to volunteer with too!!!
I have fostered 9 Dogs for TLC in the last 6 months. They make everything so easy for the volunteers by providing everything the dog would need. They are very supportive and extremely responsive. They love these dogs and follow their lives after being adopted. Wonderful community.
We first started out by adopting through TLC. Since then we have fostered and adopted 2 more dogs through them. We just love TLC!!!
Our 3 little cuties were all adopted from TLC Rescue - Left to right, Joey is diabetic and almost entirely blind, Carley and Reese (our foster fail). We love them all so much! ❤️❤️❤️
TLC provides support after each adoption which is always welcomed. In addition to being an adopter, foster, volunteer and event planner for TLC, I am also on the Board of Directors and am proud that TLC always conducts business honestly and with integrity!

After adopting our little Chug, Carley, from TLC years ago, little did I know that my relationship with TLC Rescue had only just began. We have since adopted our second dog, Reese, from TLC. I am now an active foster, volunteer and on the TLC Rescue Board of Directors. TLC always conducts themselves with integrity and is committed to ensuring that all newly adopted dogs are forever supported in their homes. TLC is committed to saving as many dogs as possible from high kill shelters until they all have a home. I would recommend TLC Rescue to anyone looking to adopt a rescue dog from a genuine, caring and honest rescue that will help position them for success.
TLC is amazing! I currently foster with TLC and will be sure to adopt from them when we are ready to add another dog to our family. Fostering with TLC is so rewarding and they are always available to answer any questions and help in any way.
Everyone at TLC is amazing! I’m so happy to be apart of this rescue! Seeing all of the dogs lives that we are saving is truly amazing!

I love being a foster for TLC! Everyone and I mean everyone is sooo helpful, understanding and truly cares here! They couldn’t be more flexible with how crazy my schedule is professionally and they truly work with everyone to make matches with every dog where they can. It’s an amazing organization to be involved with and I’d rate them 10 stars if I could! :)
I adopted a puppy from TLC Rescue back in 2014. I found the entire process wonderful. They genuinely care about their animals and I ended up with the absolute sweetest girl and the love of my life! Flash forward to 2019, my second adoption. Same as before, great experience, and now I have two wonderful dogs! I felt so strongly about what TLC was doing that I became a volunteer myself, and am proud to be able to call myself a part of their team! Adopt, don’t shop!
Amazing! They pair the dogs with the perfect family. All of the pups are well cared for both before they are adopted and they also stay in touch to see if there is anything that is needed after the adoption as well.
TLC does great work. I started out as a volunteer and eventually also adopted my dog through us. I continue to volunteer and change the lives of pups that come through our program.
TLC is the best. They have such an amazing team that never stops! Each and every week, they spend their days transporting dogs, finding them foster homes, giving them care, and finding them forever homes.
To Love a Canine Rescue, PA is the BEST rescue, in my opinion. They are a Foster based rescue which takes every necessary step to ensure the puppies/dogs are healthy, have all appropriate shots and are microchipped before they leave the rescue. They also ensure they are all spayed/neutered when age is appropriate. They take the time to vet the adopters and still manage to turn around applications within approximately 72 hours, or less. They also do not require a fence to adopt. I personally volunteer with TLC and have adopted two dogs from them. I highly recommend!!!
I’ve been a foster volunteer for over a year and cannot tell you how much I love TLC. They really welcome everyone and let all volunteers know how much their help is appreciated. They are flexible with everyone’s busy schedule
To Love A Canine is an awesome rescue. They dont rest until "They all have a home".
This rescue is caring, loving nd extremely giving. They go above and beyond to take care of, foster, rescue, and find forever homes for these animals in need.
TLC Rescue is an all-breed, no-kill dog rescue with people in it for all the right reasons. There are loads of opportunities to get involved in a way that fit into my schedule. The more involved I become, the more I love the team, what they stand for, and great lengths the go through for each and every dog. They truly live up to their motto, "until they all have a home." I can't imagine my life without TLC.
They care about the pets they place and their volunteers time and effort. Proud to be part of what they do.
I started as a volunteer several years ago and ended up fostering, and failing, with 2 pups. Our dogs are just the best and the people that work with the rescue are truly amazing. The main goal is to find all of our amazing pups a home. The team is very thankful for any little bit that you can offer as a volunteer. It is very rewarding to volunteer and adopt from TLC.
To Love a Canine Rescue is the most self less, loving, and life changing non profit I have ever volunteered for! I’ve been able to foster 5 dogs before they went to their forever home and the experience has changed my life. This organization devotes their life to make sure all the animals that we get each weekend find loving family homes.
Awesome Charity!! I have had the best experience dealing with them . The volunteers are very loving , caring people coming together to help animals.
I adopted from TLCrescue in February 2019. I previously adopted from other shelters and rescues but what appealed to me was the foster based rescue where these pets are kept in homes. They are loved and cared for and given a head start on being a beloved family member before finding their forever home making the transition better for them and better for me. My new best friend lived an entire year without a home. I am so grateful they took the interest to save him for me. I am so appreciative that I started volunteering with them to help other dogs until their families are ready to find them.
I started foster for TLC about 3 years ago. They spare no expense for a dog. Every dog deserves a chance with them. They do a great job trying to find dogs their forever homes.
We lost our dog last November and although we were still brokenhearted we decided to start fostering in January. TlC is a terrific place for beginning foster families like us! They walked (and texted) me through every situation and we were able to help over 10 dogs before finding our "forever" new pup Nala through them! They are the real deal, caring, knowledgeable and so helpful and their top priority truly is the dogs! Highly recommend to all I know!
On Saturday, November 12, 2016 my husband and I extended our family and hearts to the most loving, kind, and cuddly dog, Brit. We renamed her Bella Bella and we wonder what she named us.
Bella is our "doghter" and our furry 4-legged child. We always say that we didn't rescue Bella, she rescued us.
Thank you to Brit's foster mom and To Love a Canine Rescue for bringing our doghter into our lives.
We have the most indescribable bond with Bella Bella. We see the value of an unconditionally beautiful relationship. On the days that are the most challenging for us, Bella's eyes and licks comfort us.
Bella has made me a better person. Jim and I have re-prioritized our lives. We eagerly rush home from work just to see Bella and get in some playtime. Our bond is unconditional.
Again, many thanks To Love a Canine Rescue for bringing us to Bella.

My husband and I began fostering with TLC last year. We failed our first foster, Frankie, although I really think the term should be recoined to 'foster win'. :) We have since continued fostering. I learned about TLC when I saw them at an event with the dogs. The fosters there couldn't say enough good things about TLC and they weren't kidding! I've worked with a few other organizations and I have never experienced such a special group. There is so much pride, camaraderie and dedication from everyone involved, especially the leaders of the organization. They're incredibly easy to work with as a volunteer, and the adoption process was equally smooth. They're helpful not only through fostering and adoption, but also continue to follow up throughout the year after the dog is adopted to see how things are going and answer any questions. They truly care about all the dogs they rescue and work tirelessly to ensure each one finds their forever home. I feel incredibly lucky to have found the organization and look forward to working with them indefinitely!
I wanted to rescue a husky mix to keep my other rescue dog company. TLC even brought a dog behaviorist over to make sure they were a good match. Mojo Risen (aka Snow White) was a perfect match. Both dogs are healthy and happy. We did discover some buck shot in Mojo's ear when we adopted her in 2015. Who would shoot a small white puppy! I received her microchipped and spayed and we go for Santa pictures every year. These were the first dogs I rescued and will always go to TLC first when that time comes again. Great non-profit!
My best friend introduced me to Sami (fka Donna) and TLC Rescue almost 4 years ago. Sami was shy and scared of everyone. We fostered Sami before adopting her and quickly fell in love. The staff were wonderful to work with and the adoption process is quick and painless. We continue to support the rescue at events like Miles for Mutts and Raffles for Ruffs. Thank you TLC!
We met Benson through one of TLC's meet and greet events and fell instantly in love. They were helpful and supportive through the whole process, even recommending a trainer (she was great), providing a packet of information, and following up to make sure all was good. Benson is a love and TLC is great!
I recently adopted a dog from TLC. The organization was extremely supportive and helpful. I had as much time as I needed to meet my new pet with the foster family present to fill me in on all the details and answer all my questions. I was never rushed to make my decision. TLC provided the spay, shots and health check. They also provided reduced cost for training at a local location with an experienced dog trainer. The dog trainer was also available for on going questions and advice pro bono. TLC responded promptly to my on line application and set up my Initial meet in a timely manner. They were courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend adopting through this organization.
Great organization! So sorry that I'm unable to have a dog just now, but I do support TLC. My late wife got started on it in 2013. My 2 dogs passed a year apart, then my wife in April of last year, and since I'm still working I can't get a new pup then abandon it for 8-10 hours a day. When I retire that will be another story.
My daughter and I started volunteering about a year ago. She loves spending time with the animals and made a few friends as well. Not only does To Love A Canine help animals, it does wonders for its younger volunteers! She has learned responsibility, accountability, and all about unconditional love!
TLC Rescue is does an amazing and much needed job of rescuing dog. When my dog Lily was rescued by TLC, she needed significant medical attention. She needed both surgery from a gun shot injury and treatment for heart worm. TLC was there in Lily’s time of need. They got her the medical care she needed and today she is doing great because of all their efforts. Lily joined our family in August 2017 and they have stayed in touch along the way, offering any advice we needed. Thank you TLC for what you did for Lily and for bringing her into our lives!
I started volunteering with TLC about 2 1/2 years ago. My mom had heard about the rescue from a friend and went online and applied to adopt one of their dogs. I went with her to her adoption appointment and fell in love with what TLC stood for and how they were running their organization. I loved the fact that they were an all foster based rescue. There were no dogs sitting in kennels and being scared or feeling alone hearing nothing but other dogs bark and not knowing what was going on. I believe I have had close to 250 foster dogs through my home since I have started. We adopted two of our fosters in the mean time. I still volunteer with TLC. There are so many different ways to help out and volunteer to save the lives of these poor dogs that are left in deplorable conditions and are unloved and unloved until they come to us. I love being part of this organization

I have been fostering and volunteering with TLC for about a year and a half. I love it! This organization is the best I have seen in our area. Unlike other animal rescues, I love that the dog's are all kept at foster homes and not in cages at a facility. The dog's at this rescue automatically get used to a home environment. They start training at these homes (crate training, potty training, commands, etc.) right away. They have licensed trainers and vets on staff willing to help in any way they are needed. The organization does at least 1 public event per week to get the dog's out in the community and meet the people. This has been very successful for adoptions and gaining new volunteers. Everyone is so friendly and helps create a well oiled machine of help and support. We have fostered about 60 dogs or so just me and my husband alone. We have ended up "foster failing" 2 dogs. We fostered them and just could not let them go. We just had to adopt them! Everyone is very knowledgeable and can answer many questions that potential adopters or volunteers my have. The management team is amazing. Some of the best people I have ever met! At first I didn't believe I would be able to foster. I thought it would be too hard to let the dog's go and it had deterred me from ever trying. I originally went to TLC with my mom who had made an adoption appointment at the adoption center to meet with a puppy. While she was meeting with the puppy I had noticed signs asking for more foster parents. I decided to ask some questions and had a pretty thorough conversation with the adoption coordinator. They explained exactly where the dogs came from and the conditions in the south. They made me feel like it would be a lot easier to help these dogs and Foster these dogs. I will admit that I cried when the first dog I ever Fostered was adopted. But I looked at her new mother's face light up just at the sight of her and it gave me Comfort. It was much easier after that. Now I don't know what I would do if I did not Foster dogs. It feels very rewarding and selfishly I get to play with all types of puppies and dogs on a regular basis. I can't find anything wrong with that. The adoption center provides all its Foster's with absolutely everything they could possibly need. From crates to food, from bowls to toys, from blankets to treats. They really do make it so easy for you.
We adopted our dog Akula (formerly Stella) in late 2014. TlC really works with families to ensure the right fit; we looked at several puppies before finding Akula, and never felt any pressure to take a dog we weren't certain about, something we'd experienced with other rescues. We were very happy with the adoption process, and recommend TLC to anyone in the area looking for a dog.
We love TLC!
We fostered a senior chihuahua February 2017. We fell in love with him and foster failed. He is such a great companion. But, a few months later, we decided our little companion needed his own companion. TLC is the only rescue we would turn to for another dog. We worked with them to find an appropriate addition to our family. Another senior chihuahua was perfect.
Since our adoptions, we have needed to reach out for various help we needed with our boys. They were right there for us and our pets.
We highly recommend TLC. They are the only rescue we would ever consider.
Peace,
Pattie and Barbara
I loved my experience with TLC - by far one of the best rescue organizations I've found! They were very responsive to my questions and interests when I was looking to adopt & helped me find my canine match! I adopted Lulu last summer and she's been the best addition! TLC has been incredibly helpful, kind & supportive - before, during & after the adoption process in its entirety. It is easy to tell they are a dedicated, passionate & hard-working group of people. I highly recommend TLC to anyone looking to adopt, foster, or volunteer - they have a bunch of fun events!
I adopted Jack, a 2 1/2 year old chocolate lab, at the end of the summer; IWhen I saw Jack's picture on the TLC website, I never thought I would be lucky enough to become his master. But TLC quickly checked my references; talked with me in depth and within 24 hours he was home with me! I knew someone who adopted a dog through TLC and everything she said about their professionalism, concern for the dogs and prospective owners was spot on. Jack's foster mother was very helpful, giving me a lot of accurate background on Jack's behavior and insight into his needs. I also found a trainer for Jack through TLC, who has helped me help Jack overcome his lack of attention and training during the first two years of his life. Jack is a wonderful companion, with a great disposition and he has made my life complete again.
We adopted April 4 1/2 years ago from TLC. She is a 90 lb. bloodhound, shepherd and lab mix who came up from Kentucky. April is a sweet, loyal and lovable girl who we can't imagine not having in our lives! She is a loyal companion to Solomon, our other rescue! April is our gentle giant who offers unconditional love to anyone that will give her attention. Thank you TLC for bringing our girl into our lives!
We adopted Lucy from To Love a Canine Rescue in late April 2015. We had the opportunity to meet her at a meet and greet at our local pet store, and immediately fell in love with her! TLC is an outstanding organization that truly cares about the lives of the animals they save. I can’t say enough about how blessed we feel to have Lucy in our lives, and how grateful we are to all those individuals involved with TLC!
we adopted Ziva 15 months after losing our 13 year old chocolate lab, Bella. Our home seemed empty, we were a little hesitant to start over again. a friend knew the foster Mom of a pup and she said the dog was really sweet. So we applied, and were approved, and we adopted our Ziva on May 5th, 2016. she's around 3 yrs old now, and she'd just had a litter of 10 pups, 8 survived, and she nursed all of them until they weaned.TLC has kept in touch I see pictures of Ziva's babies, they posted all of their pictures on the day that they were a year old, and their adoptive parents post current pictures of them! I recommend TLC to anyone! Ziva was spayed , weaned, immunized, and treated wonderfully before we adopted her, has been a sweetheart ever since!! Thank you everyone at TLC!
I adopted Cassie (formerly known as Sassy) in the fall of 2013. I had lost my JRT at the age of 5 earlier in the year and didn't know when I would be ready for another. I saw Cassie & fell in love❣ She has brought nothing but joy to my life and I am so grateful to TLC Rescue for saving her! The group does such a service to the animals they rescue and to the people who adopt them! Thank you so much for my beautiful girl!!!

I adopted from TLC Rescue a little over two years ago. It was the best experience!! They make sure that you are a good match for the dog that you choose. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about their organization - I would adopt from them again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to anyone looking for a furever friend! I am eternally grateful for them bringing my little angel into my life!!!
I adopted my beautiful Casey from TLC over three years ago. She is the love of my life. TLC made the process easy but I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the adoption procedure. Everyone that I encountered was friendly and professional. They put the emphasis on doing what's best for the dog. I think they're fantastic and would highly recommend them to anyone who was looking for a new best friend.

I adopted my beautiful Casey from TLC in August of 2013. She is the love of my life and brings me joy every day. The experience with TLC was a great one. They are very professional and know their business inside and out. Everyone I worked with was friendly and helpful and it is immediately clear that their first priority is placing their dogs in a safe, forever home. I cannot say enough about this experience and this organization.
I lost my Cairn, Buddy after 14 years and had such a broken heart and was lost. TLC made it possible for me to help in a way that fit my schedule and physical limitations.
They really care about placing their doggies with the proper families & environment. They do not rush to place their animals. TLC supplies with all your needs and you can always reach someone if you need direction with the animal you have in your care. I helped Jen with Theo, only a few times, sort of a Grandmom helper - but it was enough for what everyone needed. Theo has since been adopted to his furever home, and of course, we have updates - he is so happy and it was a perfect fit. I met a lot of very nice people, in all areas of the organization. Overall - a very responsible, caring and loving group of people.
TLC genuinely cares about their organization, animals, employees and helpers. They filled a big "void" in my life.
I adopted Lilia in August of 2015. She came from somewhere down south. I had lost my beloved Pom in May 2014 and I couldn't bear to even look at poms . One day I saw a picture of Lilia on line and something in her face drew me to her. I adopted her upon meeting her in Pa. I loved the fact that she was in a foster home prior to adoption. It makes the transition so much easier. Unfortunately, Lilia came with several medical issues, some of which went un-noticed by previous vets down south and in Pa. She had a dislocated hip for an extended period of time and had to be operated on immediately after I adopted her. She was also diagnosed with a level 5 heart murmur and requires 5 medications daily for the rest of her life. All of this does not matter at all to me. I only adopt senior dogs, and they almost always come with issues. What does bother me is that the rescue never offered to help pay for her surgery which cost $1200. I sent them an email and never heard back from them.. I have been in the rescue world for 9 years and our rescue always paid for medical issues when a new adoptee was diagnosed with something that our vet may have missed.
I love my Lilia with all my heart. She is funny, stubborn, opinionated and loving. I would never have not adopted her due to medical issues. I just wish I would have had the entire picture of her health before hand. I'm still very happy that she is part of my family. She is only 9 so I hope we have many years left together.

Leslie: We do work with families if health issues are identified after adoption (and/or are known/suspected at adoption). Lillia was a senior with significant issues that we did treat and would have been reviewed with potential adopters (as well as noted on her vet records). We do follow up with our adopters as a matter of routine. I conduct the later follow ups at 6 & 12 months and don't see that you've replied to any of those but I have raised your concerns to our Executive Directors for review to check and see if there were communications from you regarding issues outside of those we would have discussed with you at adoption
Our family adopted sweet little Lexi Rose March 1, 2016, We brought our other dog, Joplin a Black Lab to meet her. They got along from the start and are the best of friends and love playing in our yard and going on walks.
I started fostering for tlc about 3 months ago. The rescue works together. The communication is amazing. Everyone supports each other and helps as much as they can. They truly care about the dog they are matching with its forever family and make sure it's the right fit.
One of their first adoptees was Ruby, aka/Mamma Gisele and we were lucky to have her join our family.
TLC is a great Rescue to work with. They care very much. TLC should be very proud for what they do!!
We adopted Siren from TLC rescue in December 2016. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in the south. We are so pleased with how TLC Rescue PA operates. All the dogs are fostered before being adopted, all the potential adopters are screened. We had a chance to meet Siren twice and think about whether we'd all be happy together before we considered adopting her. Siren is a splendid addition to our family! She is lively and energetic and she's up for anything that involves her people, or other dogs! TLC Rescue PA gave us lots of great advice and connections to other dog lovers and dog friendly organizations which have been great. I also appreciate that instead of sending endless letters asking for donations, they invite us to do fun fundraisers either with or without our dog.
We were looking to adopt a friend for our newly rescued puppy Tucker. I was searching the Internet and found a litter at TLC. We made an appointment to meet a female puppy and unfortunately she wasn't a match for our guy. We asked if anyone else was available to see and they quickly brought in "Cotton". It was love at first sight for all of us including Tucker. They followed up with phone calls and emails to check on his progress. We feel so lucky to have him as part of our family .
We adopted our Bella from TLC 4 years ago when she was just a puppy. She has brought us such joy and happiness and is absolutely the love of our lives. She's stolen our hearts forever. Her big brother Bentley adores her just as well and even though she's the smaller of the two she's very protective of him. They are inseparable now. Here's a picture of her taken a few months ago.
We adopted Kahlua (formerly Sal) in February 2014. TLC checked our references, our vet, and conducted a thorough interview to make sure that we were prepared for what it meant to have a puppy. The day we brought him home was the best day of my life and I could tell that the foster volunteer was just as happy for us. He was already microchipped and we received a free month of pet insurance. When we decided to keep the pet insurance, we were given a discounted rate because we had adopted him through TLC. Whenever we send our updates to TLC, they are warm and engaging and happy to hear that he is in a good home where he is loved (and maybe just a little spoiled). He is a very happy and healthy dog and we couldn't have had a better experience adopting him.

We adopted our best friend a little over 2 years ago. He was about 11 weeks old and my first dog (although my husband had been raised with dogs). They offered a lot of great advice on how to raise a puppy. During the application process, I spent a lot of time on the phone with one of their volunteers while she made sure I understood the reality of having a puppy. They kept in touch with us and put us in contact with a dog trainer who could help address any behavioral issues. I love that they do weekly updates on all the dogs who have been adopted and we can see how our dog's siblings have grown too! The hardest part was waiting from the time I knew we were getting him until he actually arrived in PA!
we adopted Hank two years this May, we had lost our dog about a year and a half prior to that, Hank has filed a spot in our hearts, He came from S.C. and no one knows what happened to him for the first two years of his life however now he has a wonderful life with us, he has some issues but he is overcoming them.
Thank you TLC for sharing Hank with us, he has his forever home
We adopted our Sadie from TLC 3 years ago when she was approximately 3 months old and she has brought us such joy and happiness. She is the love of our lives. love the fact that she was taken care of by foster families. We love the fact that they contacted our references and our vet to make sure she was going to a a good home. Here's a picture of her taken a few months ago and as you can see, Sadie still thinks she's a puppy.

We adopted our dog Brina from TLC in November 2013. She was found as a stray in the streets of Philadelphia. The thing that struck me the most was how much her foster mom loved her during the period before our adoption. We went to a TLC event a couple months after the adoption and brought Brina (previously Snowflake) and her foster mom was genuinely thrilled to see her and hear that she was doing so well. Coming to us as a stray, we expected Brina to be a bit shy and maybe even aggressive. But instead she crawled right up in our laps expecting belly rubs. Clearly, her foster experience helped with this transition! I really feel like TLC goes above and beyond by getting invested in their dogs. I always recommend them to friends and family who are thinking about adopting!
TLC has been an amazing group to volunteer for. Everyone has the same goal, to raise awareness and save these beutiful litte lives and find them forever homes. Always fun as there is always an event to organize and attend. Great group of people!
I love that TLCR uses a foster system for the animals instead of cages. Our German Shephard/ Golden Retriever mix Suzi was 9 months old when we adopted her. It was love on first sight when she walked in with her foster family. It was wonderful that we could get first-hand info from the foster family, so both sides felt assured and comfortable that Suzi would be a great fit and have a good life. Thank you TLCR!!!
I have worked and volunteered at numerous shelters and rescue organizations over the years and TLC is head-and-shoulders above the rest. I submitted applications to two other area rescues; one didn't respond (at all. Not even and email confirmation that they'd received my application) and the other wouldn't even entertain applications from people without a fenced in yard...and required me to adopt a dog without a meeting first.
TLC responded to me immediately and rapidly thereafter in all our communications. They're organized, professional and aren't staffed by power tripping, chip-on-the-shoulder histrionic types that seem to be so prevalent in the animal rescue world, but rather reasonable, kind, sincere and caring people.
We adopted a Plott hound and he draws a lot of attention when we're out. The first thing out of my mouth is "we adopted him from a fantastic rescue group, TLC in Malvern" and I'm proud to say it.
This group really has their act together from the first email to even after adopting a dog. I'm grateful for their hard work and commitment to helping so many dogs and people. Thanks TLC Rescue!!
I adopted Mili in March 2015. Volunteers were helpful before and after the adoption. Thank you TLC for helping me find a great dog.
My husband Bob and I adopted Molly on March 13, 2016. TLC really cares about the pups they rescue, beginning with the interview on through to providing a behavioral/trainer to assess Molly in interacting with our two beagles, Dexter and Dinah. She is such an active little senior and loves being outside patroling the yard with Dexter and Dinah for wild critters like field mice, rabbits, squirrels, or chipmunks. She has the traditional beagle yelp when she picks up a scent and will be outside sniffing the same areas long after Dexter and Dinah have called it quits and have come back inside. She loves to be outside beside me when I'm gardening. Here she is sunning herself on a cold spring day next to perennial wildflowers I've just planted. Thank you TLC for advocating for pets and finding them forever homes!
We adopted Freya in January 2016. She has been such a joy and wonderful addition to the family. Love the organization and the people! Fabulous experience.
I adopted Savannah from TLC December 2014 and fell in love with the organization. It is very well organized and the founders/volunteers are such generous and caring people. I have since become a volunteer and have adopted another TLC dog. I am made many great friends through the organization and look forward to many more wonderful events, friendships, and saving dogs with TLC!
We adopted two puppies from TLC in June 2015. It was a great experience. Completing the application was simple and TLC took the time to make sure that we would find puppies that would be a good fit for our family. The adoption process was smooth and the staff at TLC was great!!
I adopted Monk (AKA Monkey) from TLC in 2013. He was about a year old. He has become the love of my life and a special friend to dogs and people, alike, in my neighborhood. TLC is not local for me. I found them on line and liked their application. They do not ask intrusive questions. They ask the right questions. They checked out each of my references. They did a phone interview with me and I was set to come and meet them and Monk. He came home with that very day. What a joy he is in my life. His foster mom came to visit, at my invitation, last summer and he remembered her! TLC runs a top-notch organization. They truly care about placing their rescued animals in a good, safe, loving home. I would recommend them, and have, to everyone. Thank you TLC for all that you do for animals in need.
In July 2014 we adopted an adorable hound mix puppy from TLC. The process was smooth & very timely, and the TLC crew was amazing. Since we already had an older dog, TLC guided us through the best way to introduce the puppy to our adult dog, they wanted to make sure both dogs got along before finalizing the adoption. Within weeks, the dogs became best buddies. Since we had such a great experience with our TLC adoption, our family decided to become volunteers with the organization to help other dogs find their forever home!
Our family adopted Sassy, a senior terrier mix, on Christmas Eve 2015. She has integrated seamlessly into our household. Sassy looks forward to her thrice daily walks with Newman, our Cairn terrier mix rescue, whose been with us since 2007. I'm looking forward to seeing them play in our local dog park and in our backyard once the nice weather arrives. TLC took great pains to make sure both Sassy and our family would be a good match, and for that we are very thankful that the time was taken to ensure both the adoptee and adopter were a suitable pairing! Thanks TLC Rescue...
Just over a year ago we experienced To Love a Canine for the first time. I had a friend who fostered with them so I was often looking at their available dogs and considering adding another dog to the family. I was interested in an older dog to be a buddy for my 7 year old dog but Sandy's shelter picture caught my eye. She was young, only a year or two, and had been found as a stray in South Carolina. She just looked scared and lost in her picture. I don't know why I was so drawn to her but I was and applied to meet her. Sadly in the meantime she had already been placed with a family. I was surprised to receive a call the next week saying that her first home didn't work out and was I still interested. So her TLC foster mom brought Sandy to my house and she met us and met our dog Smitty. She was timid and afraid of everything but she moved in. Who knew Smitty would be the best thing that happened to her?! With his guidance and our patience she has become a fun, playful, crazy fun girl. They are best friends and she keeps the old guy young and playful. I appreciate that TLC works so hard to make the perfect family match for their dogs. Even if that means taking a dog back into their foster system if a home doesn't work out. I appreciate the follow up emails checking in on Sandy and have recommended the rescue numerous times. They are professional and caring and I wouldn't hesitate to add another family member from their rescue when it's time again!
TLC rescue completed my family. I had lost a dog to kidney failure and TLC had featured some dogs for adoption. I am the proud momma of Sir Elton who has a cleft lip. He was over looked for months but the day I say him I fell in love and my other dog Bear welcomed him with open paws. This rescue is run by professional and knowledgeable volunteers. I send them updates and pics and they always send back a message. I go to as many fundraisers as I can and all the volunteers always come over to say hi to Elton. They are always very appreciative of any donations that I can give to them. I was so happy when I heard they were going to be on channel 6 SHELTER ME. To Love A Canine is a great place to adopt or foster a dog. Thank you so much TLC.
I adopted my furbaby from this organization 2 years ago. The team is caring and concerned for the animals they place. I truly appreciated the screening process and that they confirmed the care of my existing pets with my vet office. I am so glad they pulled my girl from the high kill shelter she was in. When there was an illness problem found with another pup in her litter they notified me immediately so that I could discuss it with my vet. I found them to be highly professional and would adopt from them again.
TLC Rescue is an amazing Non-Profit organization. Not only do they save live, but they take time to make sure families are matched with a dog who is a good fit for them. The work they do with the community is beyond compare. With programs such as the Mini Paws (for junior volunteers) where kids learn how to take care of their pets and why rescue is so important to visiting camps and schools to educate the next generation. I could go on and on about this rescue and their amazing volunteers, but it would be too long. When you want to bring a new family member home, TLC Rescue is who you want to call.
It is fitting that I write a review of TLC today; it is our two month "Gotcha" anniversary! We adopted Duke and Abby (nee Heather) after researching many local shelters. We attended several rescue sponsored events and knew that TLC was the place for us. The more I learned about the rescue, their mission and the woman that run it, the more impressed and inspired I became. We can't thank them enough for what they do for these dogs that would surely be euthanized without their tireless efforts. Bravo TLC!!!!
My husband and I would like to thank you for bringing Duke and Abby into our lives. We love them to pieces.
Very caring people who always put our four legged babies first! They offer help and guidence for new parents and follow up every few weeks just to see how things are going with the fuzzy, hairy bundles of joy! I highly recommend contacting them if you are interested in adding some laughter an companionship to you and your families lives...
We adopted our Josie (aka) Joy back in November. She is the love of our lives. TLC did a wonderful job matching us with the perfect dog! I would highly recommend TLC to anyone looking for their forever puppy!
We are first time pup owners and TLC made the whole process of getting our pup so awesome and easy. Not only the process of bringing him home, but ensuring he settled in with our family as well. They provided us numerous resources and support through the first few months of ownership and beyond.
Their pup parents love is clear through frequent updates (and it's always fun to see how siblings from our pups litter are doing)!
Great organization to work with, they helped me through the adoption process, and even connected me with my dog's siblings on their one year birthday. This led to my dog Hank meeting his brother for a day at the dog park.
TLC found us a best friend! They were so quick to process our application and contact our references. They also quickly responded to all of our questions. We absolutely love our pup!
We rescued my rockstar Bowie (FKA Mark) from TLC. Great people to work with. My only critique is that they should make sure to wait to post about an available dog until after they and their foster actually have the dog in hand. That way potential adopters can get a truly accurate first hand account of what the dog is really like and what the dog really needs.
We had a perfect experience adopting our pup, Kira. The staff at TLC were professional and had very high standards about where their rescues were going. The website was very user friendly and gave us the ability to preview and have an idea of who our next family member might be. We took our 8 yr old lab, Jake on the adoption day and the second we saw Kira, it was love at first sight! She was healthy, spayed, had all of her shots and has been a joy. When we are ready to adopt another dog, we will definitely go through TLC!
We rescued Lulu (aka Ginger) almost two years ago and she's been apart of our family ever since. I am so grateful for organization like To Love a Canine. They really give these sweethearts a second chance. I would definitely use them again.
We were absolutely thrilled with our TLC experience. We attended an adoption event where the TLC team had a booth and a few dogs available. Immediately, we fell in love with our dog Sadie (formerly Nikki) and started the adoption process.
The communication was excellent - we were able to fill out the application on line (on my phone as we were driving home) and our references were called withing 48 hours. From what we were told, the questions asked to our references were thorough, but direct. One week later, we picked up Sadie from TLC and were equipped with all of her paperwork, history, etc.
I highly recommend adopting through TLC. You can tell they truly have a passion for finding the right homes for the dogs they rescue. We will definitely adopt through them again!
I started volunteering as an adoption counselor a year ago. In that time I have been a small part of dozens of adoptions and feel such satisfaction in helping the pups find their very best home! This rescue is filled with volunteers who are all passionate about helping the pups- it's evident in the number of events that are held, the timely manner in which applications are processed, the fosters who take in all the dogs... I am happy to be a part of an organization that values it's volunteers and works tirelessly to offer support when needed and has created such a strong program.
I have been volunteering for TLC Rescue since 2015. They are a top notch rescue, run by passionate, caring, and a well organized team of folks. I love the home foster benefit they bring so you know up front what type of dog you're getting. I highly recommend TLC for anyone considering adopting a dog.
My family adopted our puppy Olive just over two years ago. She was in line to be euthanized due to overcrowding and To Love a Canine Rescue pulled her and her sister. TLC has already saved so many dogs and puppies and I can't imagine how many more they will rescue. More importantly, they are careful to match adopters with furry friends that fit their lifestyle so they will not be surrendered later on. We love Olive so much and couldn't imagine our family without her! I recommend TLC to anyone looking to rescue a canine.
I adopted my dog Moose through this great organization. I can't imagine my life without him now. They were very easy to work with and you can tell how much they love and care for their animals. I would recommend them wholeheartedly!

Thanks so much for your review, we're so glad that Moose is doing well and much loved! Can you give us some feedback on areas for improvement so we can increase that 1-star review to a 5-star review?
I started looking for a rescue organization to be a part of last year. When I stumbled upon TLC's group it was an amazing experience from day one. We began fostering from the start and have loved the amount of support the staff gives for everyone, us and the dogs. Not only do they supply everything needed such as food, crates, toys, medication, but they also helped us with training techniques for the fosters which helped us with our existing dog as well! They host so many events to help promote the pups we have, I don't think we kept a foster over 2 - 3 weeks ( some were gone in a day ). We ended up falling in love with one of our fosters and added him to our home permanently. He is an amazing pup and loves being a big brother to our current fosters, showing them the way and helping bring the fun and playful side out of them. The team sets up informational training's and demonstrations to help educate our team of volunteers. My fiancee and I work with kids in the Valley Forge Area and they worked with us to set up a night to teach them how to properly meet a dog, what to do if a loose dog comes up to you, basic dog language and more. We had many parents come up to us in the weeks to follow about how much themselves and their children had learned that night and how they were planning on volunteering / fostering / adopting from TLC! Recently, we had an amazing opportunity to foster a momma dog who was about to give birth. I grew up on a farm and helped many animals give birth, but dogs were a new experience for me. TLC gave us EVERYTHING we need to help bring our litter of 10 into this world. They are a month old now and watching them grow has been an amazing. I can't wait to watch them, and momma, go into their furever homes. The rate of survival for pups born in shelters is terribly low and we are so grateful they were able to bring in this loving momma as well as 3 other moms to give birth into the safety our program. To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc is a fantastic, supportive group of people. The team that runs everything is amazing and helps keep a great volunteer / foster team active and included in everything being done at the center and in the community. I could not recommend a better group to work with and will be part of this team for many years to come.
I have been a volunteer with TLC Rescue for the past two months. I assist in processing adoption applications and also foster our wonderful pups. Becoming a volunteer with TLC Rescue has brought me so much joy and fulfillment. I believe that I have found my purpose in this life. TLC Rescue is a wonderful, nonprofit organization made up of the most sincere, dedicated and humane individuals that I have ever met. The thought of saving a dog's life is so gratifying. There is nothing better than knowing that we are bringing dogs out of deplorable conditions and placing them into loving foster homes until they are adopted into their furever home - no more shelters. Nothing but happiness and love awaits them in their future. I am so proud to say I am a member of the TLC Rescue Team.
We rescued our dog Tico from TLC last October. We also went window shopping with another area rescue and I really appreciated TLC's methods. They reached out several times before and up to 7 months after the adoption was complete. They REALLY Screened us ahead of time. They do a great job testing the dog's demeanor so you know exactly what you are getting. It feels very grassrootsy when you deal with them. We found a great dog and we are considering raising money for them for my daughters birthday in lieu of asking for gifts specifically for my daughter. Their volunteers are passionate about dogs and animals and I find them very to be very sincere.
They are unorganized and not making a difference with the animals. All they do are fundraisers

Thank you for your review. You don't provide any details about what aspects of your experience with us were "unorganized" or weren't making a positive difference for animals. We'd love some, more explicit, feedback to help us improve.
Even though I have only been a volunteer/foster at To Love a Canine for a short period (since January 2014), it has been one of the best & most rewarding experiences. I have volunteered with other rescues/shelters in the past & TLC far exceeded my expectations (based on past experience). TLC is passionate about saving as many dogs possible & finding them compatible forever homes. They care about our, the volunteers & fosters, opinions for everything from fundraising events to providing insight on a dog that is being fostered. Everyone I have met is friendly, caring & enthusiastic. As a volunteer/foster, you can become as involved in the organization as you want. I'm a very motivated person, especially anything dog related & they have graciously allowed me to help with creating flyers, videos, blogs (& more) about their organization & their rescue dogs.
None of TLC's rescue dogs wait in a shelter for someone to adopt them. Instead all of their dogs live in a foster home which means the adopter is getting a happy, healthy pup! As a foster, we open up our hearts & homes to dogs that may never have known love or warmth. We work on teaching our foster dogs basic manners, basic commands, socialization & any issues that arise. TLC helps set these dogs up for success in their forever homes!
If you are thinking about adopting a dog or getting involved look no further than TLC. You will not be disappointed!
We wanted to find a puppy and had heard about TLC from friends. We filled out the adoption papers and waited for a puppy of interest to come available. When a litter of pups were available we went to visit them and took our Border Collie along to be sure they were compatible. We would have like to have taken all five in the liter but had to limit ourselves to one, Kayla. We were pleasantly surprised that Kayla came with her shots, micro-chipped, and neutered; all set and ready to go. Even her final round of shots were covered in the adoption fee. Kayla has settled into her new home with her humans and other family pets as a spoiled pup. The adoption process was easy and we’re really happy not only that we have a new family member but that she is a rescue so we’ve made her life far better.

We adopted our dog Scotty through TLC,inc. They were very fast on responses and willing to work with you to find a suitable pet. They love their dogs and want nothing but the best!
I saw this rescue come about from the ground up. As a founder I can say we are a dedicated group who have one goal, to rescue until they all have a home. As the rescue grew, we have an AMAZING group of volunteers and fosters. Everyone is so kind, caring, loves animals and quite frankly a joy to be around. I look forward to every weekend being able to volunteer along side such an awesome team! I hope to be with this group for many more years to come.
As a professional dog trainer I highly recommend this rescue. Having helped train and rehabilitate some of the founders' dogs, I was always impressed with their work ethic and accountability for their own dog's behavior. Not only are they dog lovers but they're also intent on providing the best environment and training to enhance their dog's lives.
After working with many private rescues this is the only one I feel confident attaching my name to!
Look no further, this is the best place to adopt from!
