Causes: Health
Mission: To provide a foundation of support for families with critically ill children, allowing them to keep their focus on the family as we help with the everyday services needed to keep a family unit strong.
Programs: 2014 was our first full year to help the families whose children have cancer. We grew from 1 family to 21 families quickly as word got out about tnk children's foundation. We received donated radio advertising of $5,000 and $2,000 in printing services. We were able to provide meals, generously donated by local restaurants, after families had been at the hospital all day for appointments. We were able to supply groceries to the families who didn't have the extra time to go to the store or those who had to make a choice either purchased life saving medicine or buy food. We were able to keep clean the homes for the families, so once again they could keep their focus on their family and give them more time together. When you child is critically ill you never know if today is your last day with them. We were able to provide a support system to them by making weekly calls to check in on the families. It is hard to open up and know someone completely understands without judging. These weekly phone calls are very important to the emotional state of the parents as they witness things no parent should. We provided much needed activities for the siblings and parents to bond and de-stress. We made referrals to other organizations that could provide services the families need but we did not offer we did not offer. We had donors adopt a few families that wouldn't otherwise have been able to provide christmas for their families. We also educated the public on why the services we provided were needed and how they could get involved to further our mission.
