Mission: The tiziano project strives to develop and encourage first-class collaborative journalism on a global scale. We are dedicated to expanding knowledge and access to information worldwide by empowering communities to tell their stories.
Programs: Everyday sri lanka: the tiziano project worked with the us embassy in colombo, sri lanka to train 24 local community members in cell phone journalism. During the three-day intensive program, each student received a samsung smart phone and received extensive training in the fundamentals of journalism and storytelling. Students were then accompanied into the field to capture stories of everyday life in sri lanka that were compiled together and used to start the @everydaysrilanka instagram account, which is still in use today. Expenses for the program: the grant funding from the us state department went towards travel and compensation for three trainers from the tiziano project to spend one week in columbo, sri lanka. Additional budget for the program was spent directly by the us embassy in columbo to purchase 24 smartphones that were given to the students upon completion of the course.
