When I discovered Thrive Clermont, I fell in love with this non-profit. Originally from Clermont, I grew up without the activities, events, and opportunities Thrive offers to our community. With each year, they grow, and each event becomes a staple in our area. This non-profit has not only given me an opportunity to engage in my community, but my teenager is also volunteering with their Teen Advisory council. These experiences have created wonderful memories for my family and friends to cherish forever.
I have been working with Thrive Clermont Inc since it's inception. Although my role has changed every year, I love it! The positive energy that is generated by our programming with the South Lake County FL teens is infectious! I am a Board Member, a volunteer and an instructor for Summer Pop-ups! Incredible people....great teens....such a great program to have operating in our community!
I have served on the Board of Directors for over three years and have had the opportunity to witness first hand the impact that the programs Thrive offers has made on the lives of teens in our community. There is full transparency and collaboration within the organization and the community.
Thrive Clermont is a phenomenal organization, whose mission is to empower teens to succeed. My son started with Thrive in January and I can honestly say that I have seen firsthand the positive impact that Thrive has had on him. My son was a bit withdrawn and not really interested in much outside of video games. After being a part of Thrive's teen advisory council I have seen him more willing to speak in public, he cares more about his community and has even decided his path for after high school thanks to the opportunity to meet with local officials and the feedback he has received from other community members about his plans for college. Just having someone ( other than mom) say "I'm proud of you and I think your ideas are great." has been so beneficial and important. I think Thrive is an excellent program that really cares and wants to help teens advance and grow.
I love volunteering with Thrive Clermont! The work they do to equip local teens with real life experience and knowledge is so important. Every event is filled with fun times and great content.
Thrive Clermont offers a variety of fun and educational workshop settings for teens 13 -18.
They serve any interested teen in Lake County, Florida. The most popular programs are the Teen Advisory Council, Summer PopUps, Adulting Series and the Teen Talk newsletter.
All the workshops are geared to impact key life skills, Leadership Training, Community Engagement, and Emotional & Mental health wellness.
I was impressed with the organization from my very first volunteer opportunity in 2019.
I encourage parents of teens to check out the programs.
I'm not sure who is learning more from the Thrive Clermont experience - the teens in the program or the adults teaching and mentoring... I've personally connected with other adult volunteers and Board members in my community and learned a great deal from the teens partaking in the programs.
It's fulfilling to see and hear so many stories of teens learning new skills, hobbies, and possible vocations through Thrive's programming.
I met Sheri Lewin several years ago when she spoke at the South Lake Chamber of Commerce. I immediately caught her vision and plugged into several things I wish had been available when I was raising my kids! Adult mentoring, financial planning, health options, career training by local Realtors, entrepreneurs, so many more. My take away? College isn’t for everyone but there is a good living in the trades! Expose these kids to everything that’s out there. I was especially impressed how 2020 training went immediately virtual and the kids never missed a beat. She surrounds herself with people upon whom she can lean to accomplish Thrives goals. I am a financial supporter and proud to talk to anyone about this great organization.
It has been a joy volunteering for Thrive Clermont. To have the privilege to watch our local teens develop skills they did not know they had and watch their confidence grow with each program they attend. To see them go out into our community and make a difference, it really feels like what we are doing is going to payoff for these kids in a big way!
I wish we had had programs like this when I was a teen, I think I would have been much more successful at an earlier age with this kind of leadership training.
"Volunteers are not paid...not because they are worthless, because they are priceless" go out and make a difference!
What an amazing organization for our community and our youth. Thrive Clermont provides top knotch growth and learning tools/information that empowers and gives confidence to our young people. They continue to generate real life content and expose our youth to experiences, information and knowledge they otherwise would miss. My sons are adults now, however I wish they would have had Thrive Clermont available to them when they were younger. A GREAT organization lead by a forward thinker with loveing and caring volunteers.
Both of my children participated in Thrive Clermont's events throughout their high school years. My daughter was a members of the Teen Advisory Council which offered excellent leadership training and experience for her and was a key factor in her acceptance into UCF's Burnett Honors College and her winning several college scholarships. Her unique leadership experience in developing and implementing programs to support teens in her own community helped her stand out.
A dream to create leaders within the next generation: to develop skills, confidence and find their own dreams. It has been a joy to watch the spirit of this team interact with local youth and to watch that same youth find their own joys.
Never underestimate the difference your own participation can make. Join the dream!
