While living in Colorado Springs, I attended Saint Michaels Episcopal Church and quickly became involved as volunteer at the Thrift House of Episcopal Churchwomen (ECW). My volunteer hours helped our parish ECW chapter “earn“ money we would donate back to Colorado Springs agencies such as TESSA, Ronald McDonald house, and Mercy’s Gate. Volunteering was such a wonderful ministry enabling me to meet women from other parishes, get to know our “regular“ customers, and carry on the tradition began over 60 years ago by women from the three Episcopal parishes in Colorado Springs. The merchandise is beautifully displayed and the Thrift House is blessed with the quantity and quality of items donated to sell. I have since moved away from Colorado Springs and so enjoy seeing memories of Thrift House around my home – whether a clothing item or piece of decor. Be certain to stop at this “hidden treasure“ when you are in Colorado Springs!
For about thirty years I have been a volunteer at the Episcopal Thrift House. Our customers buy clean, wearable clothing and many useful items while we support non profits in the community with the money we earn.
Many of our volunteers, including myself, find support and friendship in the time we spend at Thrift House.
Over the years as a worker and while serving on the board, I believe that our work has been helpful to the community in many ways.
Thrift House has wonderful merchandise at excellent prices. The store is clean and cheery. Profits are returned to community organizations and non-profits such as food banks, Ronald McDonald house and many children’s groups.
The Thrift House of Episcopal Churchwomen is one of Colorado Springs and the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado's most amazing nonprofits in the retail sector. They resell donated gently used and new items in a clean, well lit, nicely laid out store just south of downtown Colorado Springs. The motto of the Thrift House is, "Used goods, used for good" and they do that in spades. They have a beautifully laid out jewelry display, an antique section, clothing for all seasons, kitchen and household items, as well as books, crafts, records, CD's and some sporting goods. All in excellent to good condition. The store is under the direction of Board members from the three Episcopal churches in Colorado Springs, managed by a few staff members and run by volunteers from the churches. It is a warm, fun, vibrant and happy place to shop. All profits are disbursed to nonprofits within the community, across the state and around the globe. It is a wonderful place to donate, volunteer, work and shop, a true gem within Colorado Springs.
This excellent thrift store has been open for decades but still manages to stay true to the times! There is a wide variety of items, from clothes ( of course!) to fabric ( great for quilters), to sports equipment ( pickleball anyone?) and furniture. My favorite areas are always the collectibles and the kitchen area. The proceeds from sales are given back to the Episcopal church volunteers who help staff the store. Then each church group can decide how to give their money in outreach, whether it is local, state, nation or worldwide. You can not go wrong at this Thrift House!
Best thrift store in Colorado Springs. They have the best quality items as the sorting is meticulous. The prices are excellent, and a thrifter can always find something here! The volunteers who work here are the friendliest and most helpful anywhere. The greatest upside to shopping here is that the proceeds of your purchases go to local charities such as CASA, Family Promise, and Ronald McDonald House.
For several decades, everyone in our family has purchased top-flight products and clothing while helping others.
The Thrift House is a wonderful place to find all kinds of interesting items. It may be small, but that's a good thing. It doesn't overwhelm you. It is very well organized and clean. There are clothes for women and men and accessories from hats to socks. Other areas include jewelry, baskets, collectibles, shoes, household items, artwork, greeting cards, holiday items, and small furniture pieces. Knowing that the Thrift House is run by volunteers from area Episcopal churches and that the profits go back into the community makes the Thrift House a perfect place to shop.
