The Challenge Center has been a huge factor in my wife’s recovery from a stroke in 2019. They have helped her get back on her feet so we can do the things in life we did prior to her stroke. The Challenge Center has top-notch therapists who specialize in neurological physical therapy, and the services they provide help so many people with disabilities who would otherwise be left behind by the health care system. We cannot thank them enough for helping my wife reclaim parts of her life that we thought might be gone forever.
I would like to give a shout out to the Challenge Center and the excellent care I received while enrolled in “The Fall Prevention,” class that I attended this year. I was given hands on training on how not only to prevent falls by making my house safer, but what to do in the event of a fall. We practiced balance and falling in a way to try to prevent broken bones.
My time spent as a student volunteer at the Challenge Center was amazing. The sense of community that they strive to build is unmatched and makes all of their staff, clients, and families feel like a powerful unit that can accomplish so much.
I have been going to the Challenge Center ever since I was diagnosed with a progressive neurological autoimmune disease over 10 years ago. My physical therapist helped me adapt as I experienced ever-changing symptoms and she taught me the skills I need to move safely. The assistant fitness program has given me the opportunity to improve my strength while the balance class has allowed me to move through my daily activities with confidence. The staff treats each client as an individual, customizing programs that best meet the client’s needs. When I started at the Challenge Center, I wasn’t able to work in my yard. I am now able to garden for several hours a day, all because of the expertise, support, and encouragement of the staff at the Challenge Center.
My mother attended the Challenge Center and I am pleased to say that she absolutely loved her experience there. The Challenge Center provided her with a supportive and welcoming environment, allowing her to meet new people and engage in various activities.
One aspect that stood out to my mother was the professionalism of the staff. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to assist. The instructors at the Challenge Center were highly trained and experienced, ensuring that every participant received the best possible guidance and support.
The variety of activities offered at the Challenge Center also impressed my mother. From physical fitness classes to mental stimulation exercises, there was something for everyone. The center provided a well-rounded program that catered to different interests and abilities.
Moreover, my mother appreciated the emphasis on individual progress and growth. The Challenge Center encouraged each participant to set personal goals and provided the necessary resources to achieve them. This personalized approach made my mother feel empowered and motivated to push herself further.
The facilities at the Challenge Center were top-notch. The center was well-maintained and had all the necessary equipment for different activities. Cleanliness and safety were priorities, which further enhanced my mother's overall experience.
Lastly, the community aspect of the Challenge Center was a significant highlight for my mother. She had the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded individuals who shared similar goals and interests. The social aspect of the center created a sense of camaraderie and support that made her feel part of a larger community.
This is an amazing place and the best physical therapists!! My son has been struggling with chronic back and neck pain for years. After working with Tiffany, she was able to identify that the position of his head was impacting how he activated his muscles. He was able to strengthen muscles and coordinate his movements to be pain free and active again. He is looking forward to transitioning to working out at Challenge Center by himself to continue to his progress. It is so helpful that he will be able to workout and still have the staff to help monitor and make a more challenging program as needed.
I am a 71 year old male who had a stroke due to a brain aneurysm in March 2020. It affected my left side, limiting movement/use of my leg, arm and hand, rendering me to use a wheelchair as my primary and sole means of getting around. Challenge Center is the third physical therapy center I have attended since I ended in-home therapy after I returned home from my stroke in August 2020.
I have been attending Physical Therapy sessions at the Challenge Center since July 2022. One of the great advantages is that my wife, who is my home care giver, can closely observe my Challenge Center therapy sessions and get pointers on how to work with me at home where all the practice and application of the techniques I learn occurs.
Since attending the Challenge Center my assisted walking sessions have progressed from using a forearm crutch to using a hiking stick for balance support. At recent therapy sessions at the Challenge Center my assisted walking and drills with the therapists have eliminated the use of any balance pole or hiking stick during therapy.
The therapists provide a very positive and supportive environment empowering my mental process to visualize and work towards my desired end results. They help me take the steps to get back to my normal pre-stroke life style. I’ve learned to notice and embrace my achievements and how to use them to build foundations for further improvement. The therapists recently worked with me on techniques to get up and sit on a high bar stool from a standing position. So far, in everyday life away from therapy, I’ve achieved 7 successful transfers onto a high bar stool out of 7 attempts on the first try.
The Challenge Center physical therapists have been very cognitive of and attentive to my personal physical history and state of mind/attitude in implementing my therapy sessions. I feel that each exercise or drill has been planned and exercised with my particular needs and goals taken into consideration. As I look around at the other therapy stations, I can see this is the same for all the other people undergoing therapy too.
The challenge center is the best! The excellent level of care provided by the entire staff is truly amazing
I am so blessed to have found the Challenge center. My orthopedic surgeon said no weight bearing exercises. I take all 4 of the aquatic therapy classes. They are amazing, the instructor Karen and her fill in Brian are so knowledgeable and attentive. I love Tuesday and Thursday, I feel alive again, and the whole class is getting active again. This was a hidden gem that is a life changer.
My mom was a client after her massive stroke - working with the staff at Challenge Center, and Tiffany as lead therapist, was a wonderful experience. Mom was released from skilled nursing with only a few approved physical therapy sessions, and when those were over she had improved very little. But then Tiffany took over...and mom made great strides in her recovery and was even able to fly cross country to see her sister again. Challenge Center is a gift to this community and to all of the individuals and families who benefit from their work.
My name is Pat Summers. I have a neurodegenerative condition. I have been attending Challenge Center for about 2 1/2 years. Karen is my personal trainer and she instinctively is aware when I am tired and does other tasks to give me time to rest and regenerate my strength. I trust her when doing my exercises and know that she will support me when needed. She also allows me to choose my exercises during strength training. I recently took a 9 day train trip and was able to see the sites except going on the glacier with my walker! My goal is to maintain my strength although I have noticed improvement. And, I have made wonderful friends!
I volunteered at the challenge center and it was an amazing experience! All the PTs and PTAs are so caring and attentive towards their patients. I have volunteered and worked at many clinics, but never one where the patient gets a full hour of attention from the therapist. It was really inspiring to see how dedicated the therapists were to helping their patients, and seeing how grateful the patients were for the therapists!
I suffered from a stroke in 2019, and had exhausted all of the traditional rehab by December 2020, when by then physical therapist told me that I had to call the Challenge Center. I have been coming to them since January 2021, and they have been a huge factor in my recovery since. Their physical therapists are top-notch, with many specializing in neurological physical therapy. The services they provide help so many people with disabilities who would otherwise be left behind by the health care system. I cannot thank them enough for helping me to reclaim parts of my life that I thought were over.
We have seen first hand the amazing work of the Challenge Center. Our friend had pretty much been written off as permanent and stationary by the insurance companies but he has thrived at Challenge Center. Another friend was able to take their "Learn How To Fall" class and she gave it very high reviews. This is an amazing organization that could do so much more with a larger facility and more staff! The Judith Campbell Educational & Community Foundation is a proud supporter of the Challenge Center!
I am a retired physician, and am a past board member of the Challenge Center. I know the value of their work in an inadequately served community. I would recommend them to anyone needing their services.
Tiffany, Jamie, Karen and all the staff are incredibly compassionate and caring. You can count on them to come up with creative individualized exercises to push your limits to achieve optimal results. I had the pleasure of working alongside this gang for a short while and was blown away at Tiffany's leadership and innovation. It was a great place to work and patients showed great satisfaction with their results. Karen's one in a million with her dedication to her clients and shows great heart behind her work!
Challenge Center is an absolutely amazing organization which provides excellent rehabilitation and wellness care for our community! It also serves as a excellent place for PT/PTA student learning and mentorship! Grateful to have such caring and committed rehab specialist here in San Diego.
Challenge Center by far exceeds my expectations...the truly earn their name! I cant say enough good things about the staff/therapists there. They are always positive and truly care about their patients and what their goal are. I give Challenge Center 10+ stars!

Thank you so much for your review and for the 10 star rating!
As a physical medicine & rehab physician, I was so pleased to discover the Challenge Center in our local community with all its offerings! I have personally witnessed some of the many client success stories, largely due to the tenacity, talent, perseverance and passion of the staff at the Challenge Center. Additionally, I was impressed with their range of equipment which further allows the skilled physical therapists to craft and adapt to the unique needs of the client .
Every day at the Challenge Center is an inspiration. The chance to see so many people make progress in their return to functionality is so amazing. Through the Challenge Center, I have learned that there is truly nothing like the feeling of helping give people their lives back, and any chance to support this fantastic group of people should be taken. I am thankful to have the chance to spend some time working with the clients here that are so motivated to improve their quality of life, and the therapists that help them along the way.

Thank you so much! Your contributions are incredibly valuable to our organization and clients!
I've been so blessed to serve on the Board of Directors of The Challenge Center. I've been amazed at the commitment the therapists and staff make every day to champion the physical recovery of so many people who, without TCC, would have given up. The success stories are fantastic, and the future is so very bright.
