Seems like a money pit. They are nonprofit but they ask you to pay a hefty sum. Even after you pay a $150 costume fee in addition to the over $400 fee for each kid to participate, they ask that the child bring specific attire on their own. And then you have to purchase the tickets to see your kids perform. The kids were also not that excited about their experience which is not their fault but idk maybe have the kids participate more in the production aspect if performance is not their strength. They were asking the parents to volunteer their time. I wish the older ones were asked to have different duties so that they could actually learn different aspects of a community production. Don't understand how this is a non profit.

We had a really bad experience with TESOCAL. The folks running the program are rude and don’t know how to speak with young children. In several of the rehearsals kids were crying because the director was yelling at them so minor things like asking to use restroom or wearing an off white shoe when white was required.

Once I observed these situations I decided we won’t participate again but I felt really comfortable on how they handled things. They are not organized. Are rude to parents as well when they ask questions.

Plus, kids performance is a really minor part of the show. You end up paying a $700 or more (program fee, costume rental fee, pictures, tickets to the show, etc.) to see your kid on stage for 5mins.

Just be wary that these folks have no common sense on how to talk to kids and that you will be paying to see other folks perform.
