Whether you have had a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury a neurological condition knee or hip replacement, amputation,pulmonary or cardiac disease, our expert rehabilitation team is committed to helping you return to as active and productive a life as possible. Each patients program is tailored to meet his or her needs by integrating several different disciplines, including physical, occupational, respiratory, speech language and recreation therapies specialty medicine nursing case management,social work and appropriate specialty services as needed. Group discussions and individual counseling sessions help patients and family members adjust to circumstances resulting from physical disability, and prepare for a new way of life. The majority of the burke rehabilitation hospitals patients return to their home or communities.
the burke wellness center is designed for adults 40 and older to provide a comfortable and safe environment for exercise. Each member of the fitness center requires a physicians approval to exercise and has to provide an in-depth health history. Based on the individuals health history and goals, the individual will have a specific exercise program designed by a certified personal trainer. The trainer will go through the program with the individual three times. This will help ensure that the trainer and member are both comfortable with the members ability to exercise independently and safely. Expenditures related to this program service activity are included within the general healthcare costs included in program 4a.
