Programs: The mission of the wildlife center of texas is to care for injured, ill, orphaned, and oiled wildlife through rehabilitation, public education, and release. The wildlife center of texas, a subsidiary of the houston spca, is houston's only wildlife trauma and rehabilitation center that accepts all injured, sick, or orphaned native wildlife. Our objectives are to provide short- and long-term care to the animals brought to the center with the specific goal of returning them to their native habitat with an optimal chance of survival and to increase public awareness and education on responsible environmental stewardship. In 2016, nearly 9,000 wild animals comprising 286 different species arrived at the wildlife center of texas in need of treatment and care.
