I donate to The Wildlands Conservancy's as much as possible. Their FREE outdoor education programs are amazing and you can't beat how their preserves are maintained and run. Great staff too!

the wildlands conservancy [twc] is a most worthy nonprofit that accomplishes huge goals with a small administative staff. it's dual mission of land conservation and public education has excellent marks of achievement.
not only do they own and manage several preserves throughout california, they also have the largest free public education program offered by a private non-profit. additionally, it is a little known fact that twc funded the largest privately funded gift of land in california to the american public, aka "the catellus purchase", a 660,000 acres land gift to the mojave national preserve.

their continuing effort to reach beyond their immediate land holdings to inform the pubic and decisionmakers about critical land use decisions, i.e. energy industrialization in the mojave desert is testimony of their work to protect the future health of our desert ecosystem and wildlife connectivity and makes them a champion of the the public greater good.
