Hello from Colorado! I am unsure as to where these folks came from but at the least I know they were heaven sent. I'll tell the story briefly. My kids and I were going to school, their first day. As a father, I was concerned! How could I not be? I read the news! My girls were walking a bit in front of me when 2 somewhat larger men came walking walking towards us. They were a bit intimidating were it not for their bright yellow tshirts! They said hello friendlier than I expected & I noticed the words STOPNOW on their shirts! I did and asked them who they were. These Wonderful young men were college students volunteering for the Foundation's STOPNOW Volunteer Patrol Teams! My Girls LOVED THEM & they escorted us all to the doors of the school where we were met and a bewildered security guard.I'm not sure my girls knew what was going on in their dad that day, nor these 2 STOPNOW angels! But they made a father breathe a little easier today! Thanks Uvalde Foundation For Kids!
This organization purports to have all sorts of nationwide programs and collects donations from people who believe it is helping people. In reality, the organization is run out of an apartment in Temple, Texas, by a guy playing a bunch of fake roles to swindle people out of their money.
I have been apart of this Foundation for nearly a year, and am still constantly amazed at the hard-work and dedication of my colleagues. Those in this organization feel so passionately about this cause and the fight for change, it is truly inspiring how much they've accomplished in such little time. I cannot wait to see how far we go and the opportunities that await.
Hello and good evening from Lufkin Tx, the McLendon family and student Ambassador Eli would like to start off by saying were so thankful for this organization and all the work they are doing to put a stop to school violence and most of all to bullying.
I'd like to share our story with yall an why we decided as a family to join such a fantastic organization.
My son Eli is 9 and he started his pageant journey a little over a year and half ago, with that being said, before hand he was a baseball boy who loved the game and still dose but his heart pulled him in a different direction. Which was fine with my husband and I because we want our kid to shine their own way not how others expect them too. Well a short while after he started his pageant journey boys and kids at school, local ball parks starting picking on Eli and making fun of him because to them he was doing a girl sport. Little did they know their words were hurting Eli and making him second guess what he wanted to do. He followed his heart an suck with it and now these kids are learning why Eli chose pageants. They have belt his confidence up, they have gave him more self respect, they have taught him how to left others up that are having a bad day but most importantly they have taught him to be himself and not let others words define you. It's okay to glow differently!! It's okay to be yourself. Our daughter is 3 and she loves the stage as well. So im so blessed that she has a big brother like Eli to remind her to shine bright and always be ture to herself. She also has him to help guide her through this crazy world and I pray we can fight this battle of bullying and that she never has to face it but we have to start now!! We are ONE in the fight together.
I have watched over the last few months from afar, the developments in Uvalde. Such A heartbreaking stream of events out of Texas! Rightfully, there have been calls for Accountability and a lot of grief and anger from the community there following the Robb School Elementary Shooting.
It is refreshing to see some real positive movements toward keeping our kids safe come out of the tragedy such as The Uvalde Foundation For Kids.
While there has been a lot of yelling, finger pointing and lives awash, The Uvalde Foundation For Kids Is Working Toward change. Working WITH schools, parents and communities. I haven't even seen other larger organizations around a lot longer as active these days. Good job Uvalde Foundation
As an educator in Tennessee, I am so pleased to write this for The Uvalde Foundation For Kids! I love what they are doing for our kids! Solid program backed by some obvious good people. I have done a lot of research on school violence and those attempting to curb it. This organization covers the bases.
LOVE the focus and creativity. And from my count of just 3 of their posted team members - you are looking at over 50 years of combined experience in education, Crisis Response & Youth work.
That means something!
Thank you Uvalde Foundation! Keep GOING!
There Is so much more to these folks than just programming - there is real HEART. Although as an educator and a parent, I am impressed and intrigued by their approach. I just heard of them through my school in California and I wish more people and organizations were around like this one. My kids are getting involved in the antibullying program and me and my husband will be doing the safety courses. Thank you Uvalde Foundation For Kids. It sounds cheesy but really I feel a little safer knowing you guys are out there.
I live in Uvalde, Texas. I have heard the lies promised us. Until now! The Uvalde Foundation helped me and my family keep our electric on this week! What have the others done?
That is all I have to say.
I am so glad there is a place like this... my son has been connecting to some of your teen peers on your 888 line. When I found out at first I wasn't sure what to think but then I have realized that he has FINALLY FOUND SOME FRIENDS!
My boy has been bullied and angry most his life and arrested 2 times. Sometimes I wait to get that call that he did something bad. I tried counseling other places and as parents we try to create a good home. He tells us we don't, "get him," and shuts down. Lately though he says that the kids on your phones help him cause they do, "get him."
He smiled the other day. He never smiles.
Thank you Uvalde Foundation For Kids!
I think it is simply wonderful to see that something good came out of the Uvalde tragedy! As a teacher, I was concerned, obviously as to how I can keep my students safe this year! I called the foundation and they provided some excellent help and Insight and even helped me set up a peer support group for my kids at the school! The RIP training manual they sent is invaluable! Thanks Uvalde foundation for kids! Keep making a difference!
The variety of the programs here are effective and exceptional! As a youth counselor, I can appreciate the multi-level approach to ending school violence! As a parent I appreciate the total care the folks here show! I will be a lifetime supportor!
I love the work of this organization! Their programs are fun, informative and most importantly CRITICAL for our students! After researching the organization and background of the folks here, I was impressed!
I just enrolled my son in the School Safety Training and Mentoring program and he cannot stop talking about it!
Looking For An Answer To Uvalde & Others???
The Uvalde Foundation For Kids is the place!
As an Educator myself of little ones I am always concerned now with their safety.
The Uvalde Foundation For Kids RIP program we JUST GOT here at our small Tennessee school of about 200 Kids BUT this will be valuable! We feel empowered to now JUST TEACH!!!!
BUT, If we have to we will protect our kids here thanks to Uvalde Foundation For Kids!
My daughter volunteers with the foubdation in Colorado! She helps with the STOPNOW Patrols! Wow What A Difference these kids can make with guidance from Foundation's such as this!
She even is recruiting kids at her school to help end bullying and violence! This is how TRUE CHANGE happens!
Working Alongside the Uvalde Foundation For Kids Has Been An Honor! It is truly an inspiring place to be involved with. In a world so very jaded, The Uvalde Foundation For Kids gives reason for hope for the future of our students & world.
It Is nice to know that some organizations have continued helping the community of UVALDE & beyond, following the tragedy there. The Uvalde Foundation For Kids is a wonderful place with honest hearted people.
I love too that they have honored those poor souls lost at Uvalde by actually naming their very Foundation after the town/incident. BRAVO and keep up the good work...
I have worked for a lot of nonprofit organizations and good ones at that.. BUT none such as this. Never have I seen such a sincere dedication from such a group of people. This dedication is only paralleled by the amount of expertise in the areas of education, youth advocacy & social services.
The Uvalde Foundation For Kids is the real deal!
I cared the Foundation for help with some bullying issues. I was not OK but after talking for like an hour with one of their team, I realized it wasn't my fault that I was Bullied and that I am not alone. Tx
It Is wonderful to see that an organization such as this exists! They are taking care to the next level! In thinking ProActively and not Reactively in their programming, coupled with the variety of services offered to schools & communities - The Uvalde Foundation For Kids Is Making A True Impact!
Great Job!
