The Unity Care Group is focused on at-risk and under-served children, youth, and their families. It provides foster care for children, and transitional housing and counseling for young adults of 18-22 who - in the past - would "age out" of the foster system and be left to their own limited resources to thrive in the world and too often would fail with tragic consequences. In addition, Unity Care provides a wide range of community-based and mental health care services such as counseling and skills-building to the "at risk and underserved" population, including family counseling, in order to offer a holistic service to create healthier communities. Mission: The objective of Unity Care programs is to turn around the lives of young people who continue negative and disruptive behaviors that keep them at-risk to the criminal justice system. We provide positive alternatives that allow these youth to internalize behaviors that correlate with making proper and wise decisions. By providing a safe environment whereby adolescents may experience emotional support, growth and confidence, we enable them to realize their full human potential. Programs are provided in seven areas: 1) Group home residential care, 2) Youth outreach and education, 3) Foster Family Placement, 4) Transitional homes for youth who age out of the foster care system, 5) Pre-College Minority Engineering and Robotics Program. 6) Mental Health Services and 7) Strength-Based Wraparound Services.

Programs: In operation since 1992, the Unity Care Group is a successful, dynamic residential care program that is licensed by the State of California. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure living environment wherein adolescents experience emotional support. By creating an atmosphere of love, warmth, and understanding coupled with positive role models providing adult guidance and consistent standards of discipline, Unity Care strives to provide the security and support required for youth development. Currently there are thirteen group homes, the first of which opened in Santa Clara County in August 1993, that currently house 72 at-risk youths at a time. A total of 730 youths have been served through our group homes and another 550 youths have been served through the education component offered off-site in other group home environments. In addition, in Monterey County, Unity Care operates the County's only Children's Shelter, a Level 14 residential facility, and an on-site alternative school. In Santa Cruz County, Unity Care operates a residential program for teens recovering from addictions.
