Programs: Therapeutic group homes - in 2014, methodist children's homes operated five therapeutic group homes for boys and girls. The children in are given academic support, preparation for living independently, therapeutic and psychiatric support, spiritual guidance, life skills training and recreational opportunities. This program is specifically designed for young men and women ages 17 to 21. Its goal is to ease the transition from high school to college or to the workforce by providing instruction in budgeting, household management and job skills so that they can live independently as responsible adults. In 2014, we began a campus based wellness program emphasizing general fitness activities and nutrition.
two of us program - methodist children's homes operates the only licensed therapeutic maternity home in mississippi. Two of us helps young mothers learn the skills they need to care for their children, while also giving them the opportunity to pursue education and employment. Free daycare is provided in the home, giving mothers the assurance that their children are being well cared for and loved. Up to six mothers and their babies take part in the program. Participants are encouraged to stay as long as the program is effective and beneficial.
