Trust for Public Land became an accredited land trust in July 2017, a status that can be renewed every five years. Accreditation means Trust for Public Land meets national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Trust for Public Land demonstrated to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission its commitment to excellence. Accredited land trusts meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. The Trust for Public Land is a nonprofit that saves land from development by purchasing it and then turning it over to national or state parklands for conservation and enjoyment by the public. A number of good organizations do this, but I feel TPL gets the most bang for their bucks.
