Mission: The Tommy Two Shoes Literacy Project for Children Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit. We Provide free distribution of children's books to pre-school and grade school students, encouraging literacy, using our unique format to gain the financial support of companies, foundations, and non-profits to sponsor the books.
Results: On our first Read Day Assembly we were able to partner with Schneider & Associate CPAs, P.C. and help donate over 100 books to Desert Sun Academy for their preschoolers. The excitement from all the children spoke multitudes of how much joy they felt from receiving their own book. Jennifer Auh from Fox10 was there and covered our story. Target demographics: Preschool and Elementary School age Children
Geographic areas served: Arizona
Programs: Our Read Day Assemblies where our sponsors come out to meet the students who are part of the class, grade or school that requested TTS help in receiving free books. The sponsor hands all students in attendance their personal copy of the book along with reading a passage from the book.
We also have our Read-Run Option - Sponsors who participate in our Read Day Assembly can choose to rerun the event the following semester or the next school year. In this way, sponsors can support a group of students throughout their elementary school career.
I had the privilege of sponsoring a Read Day and going to share the joy of reading to the students! It was truly an enjoyable experience. I always loved reading to my own children when they were young, and now I am reading to my grandchildren. I have seen the value of reading and childhood literacy first hand! Thank you, Tommy Two Shoes for your vision and the work you do!
Tommy 2 Shoes was an amazing experience for our developmental preschoolers! They generously have a book to each student and read and discussed an engaging story of friendship. Thank you Tommy 2 Shoes for sharing your love of books with our preschool.
