Mission: To conserve resources for the future by encouraging and facilitating sustainable living practices in our community.
Programs: Community energy efficiency program (ceep): provides free or low cost energy assessments and audits for customers. Recommendations are made for energy efficiency upgrades and financial incentives are provided to offset a portion of the cost for work to be completed by vetted contractors. Approximately 150 audits/assessments were completed in 2017.
builders resupply: a retail store which accepts donations of new or used reusable building supplies and resells them at a significant savings from regular retail. Builders resupply diverts waste from the landfill and saves customers from paying landfill fees for reusable materials. The builders resupply progam served approximately 4,000 customers in 2017.
building performance testing program: provides audits, final inspections, and building performance testing performed by sustainable living center staff and is not associated with the community energy efficiency program (ceep). Approximately 300 final inspections were completed in 2017.
georgetown university energy prize (guep) - education and outreach specific to energy saving practices. Includes veterans and seniors home energy quick checks, dog days of summer. Bonneville power make-a-splash - elementary education grant culminating with make_a-splash learning event in may 2017. Workshops and outreach programs - educational outreach on a variety of sustainable topics via workshops, farmer's market and community event booths, your green life fair and alternative gift fair.
