This is a great organization supporting a worthy cause. Helping care for pets of the unhoused contributes to the feeling of responsibility for the individual that can be what they need to better care for themselves.

I have been volunteering with Street Dog Coalition for about three years and am constantly blown away by not only the level of service provided, but also the compassion and care that accompany the services. Clients leave clinics feeling seen, valued, and more independent. SDC gives comprehensive exams and care to ensure pets are healthy, and the organization supports those on both sides of the leash through the donations available at clinics and more. This is a very special organization that is truly fulfilling its mission every day!

The Austin Pets Alive Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) Program has been an honored partner with the Street Dog Coalition Austin team since they started up a few years ago when I took over as the program manager. Their team and services are a blessing to the community and pets in need! Dr. Mullens and his wife, Kate along with the Emancipet team and volunteers are a miraculous village of support for the fur-babies of those facing the largest hardship in the area. The 'ittakesavillage' motto doesn't begin to cover what Street Dog Coalition means to Austin Pets Alive as partners but to clients in the community who are eternally grateful for the events and support available for their pets to keep them out of the shelter/with their families.

I started volunteering with The Street Dog Coalition about 6 months ago. I have been so impressed with how well run their monthly clinics are. It's clear that they are a very efficient charity . The clinics are run by volunteers, and every donation makes its way to their clients - people experiencing homelessness and their pets. We rotate cities and go to locations that are convenient for the clients. I am grateful to be part of this high impact organization!

My name is Callan Robison, and I am 17 years old. I found SDC while searching for a community-focused organization I could deeply connect with. I had volunteered many times in the past, but I always felt as if I was just a part of a massive machine, not a real person making a real difference. When I looked online for organizations supporting animals in need, SDC was at the top of the list, and I decided to give it a shot! Now, I am a volunteer and Ambassador because I care deeply about their mission: helping animals, helping people in need, and being part of a dedicated volunteer community. I feel at home and in a tight-knit family in all of our clinics, and I still felt that connection when I was out of my usual zone while visiting Sacramento. SDC does incredible work for so many communities, and I am so proud and glad that I can help them bring such a positive change to this world.

As a volunteer, I’ve witnessed the compassionate and respectful care that Street Dog provides to its clients. Sometimes that care can be life-changing: One client, after receiving care for his companion dog, received Emotional Support Animal certification through Street Dog. This enabled him to apply for housing. Some moths later, he proudly reported to Street Dog that he had found housing which, in turn, helped him to find sobriety. I’m proud to be part of this fabulous organization!

I have been volunteering at SDC for the past 3 years. The veterinary, medical and administrative staff work tirelessly to provide skilled and compassionate care to clients and their pets in a welcoming and safe environment. Every single week I am witness to the positive impact that SDC has on the lives of our community's most vulnerable. I have often learned from clients that this pet is the only "family" they have. Keeping their pets healthy is vital for their mental health and self-esteem. It is an honor to work along side these dedicated individuals. My years with SDC have proved to be some of the most rewarding and important work of my professional medical career.

The Street Dog Coalition is a truly special organization, working to not only provide essential veterinary care at no cost to people living with homelessness, but also to provide a support system for the people who bring their pets for care. Everyone is treated with kindness, respect and dignity. They embody the beauty of the human-animal-bond and in many cases have helped people find or remain in temporary or permanent housing by ensuring their pets are healthy and up to date on vaccinations. They take a One Health approach, collaborating with human healthcare and social services, providing donations of essential supplies (for people and their pets), meals, showers and other services. Changing the world, one animal at a time.

Hello, I feel compelled to share my story & my relationship with the STREET DOG COALITION & THEIR VOLUNTEERS. I'm a DISABLED SENIOR / SEMI RETIRED INDEPENDANT ANIMAL RESCUERER, who started taking my rescues to this non profit. I was homeless for 7 yrs.with 4 rescued dogs & 2 cats. When I first went to STREET DOGS, they were doing their clinics at the San Jose animal care center. I was so grateful for their HELP & the way they treated me & my furbabies. Being homeless ,most of the time we are treated as an INFECTIOUS DISEASES. But with STREET DOG COALITION, I was treated as a human being, with RESPECT & DIGNITY. My furbabies were treated with love, belly rubs & treats. Being HOMELESS there is NO way, I would've been able to pay for ANY type of treatment for my babies. Not having a place to live, my furbabies were and always will be my family. Alone, I did what I could to keep MY babies healthy, but when I first came in contact with STREET DOGS COALITION, I knew that GOD had given me a beautiful gift, because now I could keep my furbabies healthy.
In JULY of 2024, My 2 dogs, MIA & LILBIT were able to get their teeth cleaned.! With the help of STREET DOGS COALITION & PALO ALTO HUMANE SOCIETY, my babies teeth were taken care of! I NEVER would've been able to pay for the teeth cleaning of both dogs had it NOT been for these AWESOME AGENCIES. I thank GOD every day, for putting STREET DOGS COALITION in my life. The gratitude I feel, is hard to put into words. The work that this agency does for ALL the people that are HOMELESS or on the verge of becoming HOMELESS, is so AWESOME. They don't judge you or your beliefs. All they want to do is HELP YOU & YOUR FURBABIES.
If you can donate, PLEASE DO SO! IF your HOMELESS & NEED HELP with your fubabies, look for their website & let them help!

There are amazing Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians who volunteer their time on a regular basis to care for the pets of folks who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their housing. I've never met such a kind, professional and dedicated group of people. They clearly care deeply for "lives on both ends of the leash" Clients are so grateful to be able to receive care for their companion animals. Wonderful organization!

I have been volunteering with SDC since February and I have been seeing the impact we are making by supporting the pets and their families. We are providing veterinary care, vaccines, peace of mind of their pet's health as well as food, toys, collars, leashes, all the things to help the community with their pets. We have partnered with Roice-Hearst for spay and neuter opportunities as well. This organization is amazing, and I am so happy to be a small part of SDC.

The Street Dog Coalition is there to provide veterinary care to companion animals of those who currently do not have a residence. Since 'home is where the heart is,' it is extremely important that humans affected by our housing crisis and their beloved pets stay together, caring for each other, instead of being surrendered to already overworked and overcrowded animal shelters. I have seen the excellent work of The Street Dog Coalition and encourage all to support their mission.

Street Dog is a wonderful organization who's goal is to provide much needed wellness care and spay and neutering of pets of those who are homeless. I have been working with the Bay Area team for several years and have personally seen the positive impacts SDC has made on the lives of those who are incredibly vulnerable. In many cases their pets are their only companion and a link to helping them stay alive. The pets are very well cared for by their humans. The care SDC provides ensures the pets can stay healthy and free of pests, such as flea and ticks. There is no judgement. Everyone of their clients are treated with respect and compassion.

I wanted to get more involved with a not-for-profit organization that both resonated with me personally and was making a difference in people’s lives. I particularly liked SDC's approach to provide scale and backing nationally, while enabling teams locally. I believe this enables more volunteers to get involved directly, while amplifying donations to support its vision and mission. Living in NorCal and volunteering at the San Jose Animal Center, I saw the need first-hand. I am excited to join an organization that supports the human animal bond (dog) and helps those in need.

I am the co-team leader for the Topeka, KS chapter and this organization has been the key to our success in using veterinary medicine as a catalyst for connecting homeless pet owners in our community with other local resources so that BOTH ends of the leash are loved, seen, valued, served, and given the chance to find hope, healing and housing. The staff at the national level are so encouraging, have great communication, and do everything they can to support the satellite teams across the country. We tried doing vet outreach on our own and it wasn't sustainable - SDC made it so that we not only sustained the ability to do street clinics but to grow and provide care to people and pets in unbridled collaboration with our rescue mission, local vet school, mental health facility, the animal shelter, animal control, police department, veterans program and others in ways we could have never imagined just a few short years ago. Thank you so much Street Dog Coalition for providing the structure we needed to launch and the support to keep growing and finding innovative ways to help both pets and their people!

The local street dog coalition for my area held an event January of 2024. My husband and I took both our dogs 9ne for just a basic exam which was Nutmeg then we took our dog Etch-a-sketch as well because he was due for vaccines as well as he had not gotten his heartworm prevention so with Etch-a-sketch they preformed a heartworm test which came back a very slight positive so they actually went ahead and preformed a second one just to be sure it was actually positive because the line was so faint the first time needless to say it also came back positive. We then went ahead and followed up with our local area humane society veterinarian who then did a microfilia test which also came back positive that was on February 14th. He was then started on the one month of doxycyline with rest followed by a s3cond month of rest. April 10th then was his first injection then may 9th andv10th were injections 2 and 3. As of today he is doing great he has to go mid July for a retest to see if he is now heartworm negative I have to say a huge thanks to Street Dog coalition for what they do. I also found a great Facebook page called Heartworm positive doggy moom/dad support group which has great information as well as being able to just keep you calm during treatment with advice or there dogs stories and achievements.

I can't say enough about how much SDC has benefited our community and the well-being of those experiencing homelessness with their pets.

Living in downtown San Diego, the population of our unhoused neighbors has increased since the start of the pandemic. Not only do we have a humanity crisis, but also, a loneliness crisis. For some, their pets are all they have to stay connected to the lives they once knew and desire to live. They provide a sense of love, support, and hope.

Without SDC, these people & their beloved animals would be put in an even worse position, threatening to make the issues we face even worse. Hosting clinics in our neighborhood with kind, caring staff & volunteers makes a huge difference. Thank you for the love, the smiles and the support that you give, SDC. We appreciate you!

The opportunity to provide free veterinary care to some of our communities most vulnerable members has been eye-opening, humbling, and personally satisfying. The human-animal bond is so important to our experience as complete individuals. For some of our clients, the only regular support or comfort they get is from their feline and canine companions. After retiring as a nurse practitioner everyone would tell me my next chapter would come to me. It took a few years, but when I found The Street Dog Coalition that is exactly what happened. SDC has a mission not only to help the pets of the homeless or at risk of homeless folks, but also has begun programs to help "the other end of the leash". We offer a clinic weekly to our community and equally exciting have begun to take our show on the road. Last week we took a team of volunteers to eastern Colorado and this is what was offered:
veterinary care (exam, vaccines, spay and neuter vouchers)
medical care (local docs, pa's, and nurses)
dental care (cleaning...yes cleaning!!...and exams)
social work and community referrals
hair cuts
Vaccines for humans including flu and Covid
Isn't that amazing?? The work Streetdog is doing is not being offered anywhere in our area or the eastern Colorado cities we visited. This prototype clinic is now mushrooming all over the country thanks to our leaders Dr. Jon Geller and Katrina Weschler. They know no boundaries when it comes to the care of the homeless or home insecure and I am proud to be a part of this unparalleled program!

It was great to see how all the volunteers and vets work together to make sure the people and their pets get the care they need. I hope this organization continues to grow and keeps providing exceptional vet care across the country. Also, I highly recommend volunteering a few hours of your day to see how awesome SDC really is.

A professional, well-run and responsible group, and your donations will go to the very critical need for vet care for the underserved people who are homeless or at risk for it. They can't afford the care their pets need yet those pets are companions, loving friends, and mental health boosts for folks who really need them. I volunteered on October 24 at their outreach in New Orleans and enjoyed the amazing experience of helping dedicated professionals touch the hearts of more than a dozen friendly, patient, yet disadvantaged pet owners. My money and my time are well invested with SDC. I'll be there at their next outreach and hope you can join me with your support. Written by a grateful pet owner, who can gladly afford to share.

Spending this beautiful Saturday volunteering with a the Street Dog Coalition. They are providing such a great service to this community. All the pups and their owners left with big smiles on their faces. This is something I would love to see continue to happen here in New Orleans!

I think this is a great organization, I just wish we could reach more communities in need. I’m so happy I can be apart of all this & truly look forward to my volunteer day. Everyone is SO appreciative for StreetDogs helping their pets get basic medical care & medications like flea & heartworm prevention. I hope StreetDog can grow once covid restrictions are lifted. We could help so many!!

Street Dog Coalition is a fantastic organization that cares about lives on both ends of the leash. This organization is doing so much more than just veterinary care-- they are saving people by saving their pets.

The Street Dog Coalition and its various components are an asset to every community where they have outreach teams. Expanding their work from veterinary outreach to homeless communities with pets to a One Health model partnering with local social workers, mental health specialists and medical staff to offer care "at both ends of the leash," making the organization a forward thinking advocate for these communities throughout the country. Fortunately through individual and corporate support the organization can continue to grow offering these much needed services in new cities and support ongoing clinics.

I joined The Street Dog Coalition as a volunteer for the street clinics in northern Colorado because of my love for animal welfare but soon found that this organization cares as much for the humans who care for their pets as constant companions, and often, as their lifelines. While the pet owners who attend our clinics are homeless or near homeless they receive the same care and attention both for their pets and personally that they would in the best brick and mortar veterinary clinic but pay nothing for the services they receive. We work closely with generous local veterinarians and humane societies to provide services for these pets we can't on the street, such as spay/neuter, dental work or other surgeries, and then reimburse them for their expenses so the pet owner does not have to pay for the procedure or make the heart-wrenching choice of giving up their pet or having to euthanize their beloved companion. The mission of The Street Dog Coalition was vital when the organization was begun and continues to be of the utmost importance to the families and individuals who need our services in order to keep their pets healthy and keep them close. As first responders have discovered through natural disaster evacuations or through victims of domestic violence, pets are so important and so much a part of the family that owners will choose to stay rather than leave a pet behind. The human/animal bond is undeniable; The Street Dog Coalition embraces this bond and through clinics throughout the US we offer empathy and care to furry family members and a non-judgmental ear or shoulder to the caregiver. We often hear from owners that their pet saved their life, not through some dramatic rescue, but by merely being there. Having a pet to care for has enabled the owner to stay connected, to live another day so that their companion is fed, warm and safe. Millions of us have pets to love but not many of us fully-homed people can say our pets keep us alive everyday. For this reason and so many others, the pets of homeless deserve health care and support; through the work of The Street Dog Coalition, our partners, volunteers and donors we can continue to open more clinics throughout the country and provide vital services to pets of the homeless keeping them healthy and helping relieve that stress for caregivers. As a board member now, I continue to work local street clinics and add my experience to the growth of the organization in the hope that one day homelessness will be a part of our past as a society but as long as The Street Dog Coalition is needed we will be there.

I got involved with Street Dog Coalition when I saw that my friend was volunteering at events in San Diego. I e-mailed the contact available on the website and reached Dr. Jon Geller, who founded the organization. He and Katrina got back to me and let me know that there was not an active clinic in Nashville yet, but that they would like to get me started. Before I knew it, I was organizing my first street clinic. Not only is this a great idea, but Dr. Geller and Katrina have developed it into a seamless, organized process. This really allows us as team leaders to bring this amazing idea to life all over the country and bring health care to the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness. This organization achieves so much with a simple idea. It allows us to tackle mental health issues of those experiencing homelessness by allowing them to keep their pets, which are often their lifeline and best friends. It allows us to tackle public health by preventing the spread things such as tick-borne diseases, bubonic plague with flea control, rabies, hookworms and tapeworms, to name a few. It allows us to keep the pets as healthy as possible, despite the owners not having access to the resources to care for them as they would like to. It allows us to minimize the spread of disease between pets that live in the urban environment by keeping the pets of the homeless population healthy and on preventative care. It allows us to speak with and educate individuals experiencing homelessness about how to care for their pets as best as they can. It allows us to give these individuals the resources to have their pets spayed and neutered to control overpopulation in our shelters and on our streets.
This organization seems like it is based on a very simple idea-provide free health care and resources to obtain health care for the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness. However, it achieves so much in the grand scheme of things. I learn so much from every event that I am involved with and from every conversation I have with Dr. Geller. Working with them has really empowered me to help not only the homeless community, but the community of Nashville as a whole.

Dr. Jon Gellar is great to offer his time and expert advise to those in need. Great non-profit that helps owners of animals get proper care and vaccinations for their beloved animals who otherwise would not be able to afford it on their own.

I have volunteered with the Street Dog Coalition, providing free basic Veterinary services to the pet-owning homeless population. My experience volunteering has made me aware that the services the Street Dog Coalition provides is vital to the folks who have no financial resources to provide care for their most precious possession - their pet.

The Street Dog Coalition is a great story of one man who had an idea to help those less fortunate and expanded it to a nationwide movement. I have participated in several Street Dog functions. People who receive the benefits of the services are sooo appreciative. Even with volunteers, the cost of vaccines and medications is large so financial donations are very important to continue the work.

I have been priviledge to get to volunteer with the STREET dog coalition here in Fort Collins with Dr. Geller and to have seen first hand the awesome care that is provided to the pets in need who come to the clinics. The owners are always so grateful, and I am glad to have the opportunity to help with their awesome mission whenever possible.

I have been volunteering as a veterinary technician with The Street Dog Coalition Hawaii chapter for a few months now and I can honestly say it is the best thing I have done with my life. This organization helps fill a societal hole that would otherwise be left open. This organization is wellness and infectious disease control. During our Street Dog clinics we are able to provide protection from terrible preventable diseases, stop transmission of parasites, prevent unwanted litters, and treat a numerous amount of health issues. All in the while providing mental and emotional well being to people and animals.

I have witnessed Street Dog in action in Ithaca, New York. The work that these people do for pets is most impressive. They give of their time and energy to make sure that pets have preventative and curative treatment. Each injured paw, each infected ear or eye is treated with tender care. Preventative treatment for fleas, ticks, heartworm and more will make sure these pets remain as healthy as possible.
These professionals--Vet Techs and Veterinarians--deserve enthusiastic support.

I have worked in the veterinary field for 25 years and the animal welfare field for 10 of those. The Street Dog Coalition has a beautifully simple and accessible model for volunteering and making a community level impact. They made it extremely easy to start a local clinic and all of the volunteer time is spent providing direct care because of their fantastic support. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Here in the Chicagoland area, the Street Dog Coalition has teamed with The Night Ministry and The Anti-Cruelty Society to reach more pets of the homeless and near homeless. It has provided exams, vaccinations, dewormings and basic medical care to those pets in order to keep them healthy and maintain a strong pet-owner bond. It is also able to provide spay/neuter vouchers for those pets.

Street dog coalition changes lives. The people who benefit from this program can barely feed themselves, but they would do anything for their pets (dogs and cats!). I have personally been involved with this program for several years and have witnessed the love between people and their pets. Street dog recognizes and validates this human-animal bond and gives homeless animals the basic healthcare that they deserve, while also connecting with and educating their owners. For a lot of these people, their pets are their only companions and family and they give them a reason to keep going. Everyone deserves a companion and the street dog coalition helps make that possible.

The Street Dog Coalition is a wonderful organization that fills a much needed gap in the communities they serve. I used to live in Fort Collins and I'm impressed at their ability to scale to so many cities throughout the country in just a few years. It's also pretty incredible that all their clinics are 100% volunteer based. It's important that nonprofits like this continue to do the work that they're doing and destigmatize homeless individuals that have pets/homeless pets.
