I was a Steppingstone Scholar in 2001. For the past 15 years, Steppingstone has played a monumental role in each chapter of my academic life. I wouldn't have made it to this point without the organization, the teachers, and the employees. I will be forever indebted. Thanks Steppingstone.

I can comfortably say that The Steppingstone Foundation played an integral in preparing me and many of my older siblings for the sometimes very difficult transition from attending a public vs. private school. Since completing our middle and high school experiences, we have all maintained a connection with the Steppingstone family via very active and welcoming Alumni outreach activities.

A program to prepare students for some of the best high schools and , more importantly, the difficulties of life. The teachers and administrators genuinely care about the students and want to see them achieve.

I was accepted to Steppingstone after my mom moved to Boston from the Bronx in search of better educational opportunities. As a fifth grader, I was a little hesitant to join a 14-month program that only seemed like additional school but little did I know that Steppingstone would change the course of my life. Steppingstone became a second family for me where I would receive academic and social support. Steppingstone teachers and advisors always believed in me and encouraged me to fight for my dreams. There aren't words to explain the impact that Steppingstone has had on my life and I will be forever grateful to them.

I was a Steppingstone Scholar from 1994-1996. It was the most significant and formative educational experience of my life. It is the reason why I was able to attend a private school and later on one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. Steppingstone is a high impact non-profit that is filling a critical gap in the education inner city children receive.

I entered into Steppingstone in 1999/2000. I was nine years old and my parents wanted me to have a better chance to receive a greater education. They enrolled me in Steppingstone. Over the next two summers and one school year, I was prepared for that better education. More importantly I was pushed and inspired to become a better me. I still have the letter I wrote to myself before leaving the program at Boston Latin Academy. I am proud to say that I made my child-self proud! Going to Steppingstone prepared me to take on and graduate from Boston Latin School. It taught me test taking skills and LATIN to do wel on the entrance exam, SATs, and even GRE. It gave me some of the longest lasting friendships and networking circle that I have today! I am happy that Adrian was my buddy on that Saturday as I went to take that test at the Holland School to get into Steppingstone. I am a proud graduate of 2001! A veteran of the summer talent shows. A past participant in the Saturday Study Halls and someone who is forever grateful to this program for giving a bright girl from Roxbury the chance to shine!

There isn't another foundation like Steppingstone and I don't think there ever will be. No other educational experience that I've had since or that I had before compares to the Steppingstone experience. They were rigorous yet supportive, and they always balanced high expectations and accountability with just as much personal attention. Despite the fact that I've always been talented, I don't know if I would have made it to college if I hadn't gone to Steppingstone.

It's been more than 20 years and they still keep in touch with me. And on the occasions that I've seen or talked to Mr. Danziger (the co-founder) over the years, he's treated me with the same level of familiarity and warmth, even though it's been 22 years.

I truly love these people and I remember mostly every name and face of the teachers I had at Steppingstone; their impact was so lasting. This organization does what they say they will do.

Steppingstone made me see that there was so much more that I and my city had to offer! Growing up in Boston, I didn't have the exposure to amazing education, strong support systems, and confidence to excel that so many others are born into. Steppingstone showed me that I really do have options and my life does not have to be a dead-end or pipeline. I owe a lot to Steppingstone, which is why I work so hard and intend to give back.

I attended Steppingstones back in '98-'99 and have looked back on the experience fondly ever since. As the name of the organization states, the program was a 'steppingstone', an integral step on a pathway to success for me. I was exposed to activities, educational opportunities, and a diverse group of students that I would not have been privy to if not for the program. I cannot say enough about the staff and support systems in place to help the children in the program succeed. Thank you, Steppingstones!

I was still in middle school when I first heard about Steppingstone. The organization helped me enter a good high school, continued to support me up 'til my college years and still checks in on me every so often even though it has been almost two decades since I first met them. Now I am a college professor. Coming from poverty, I had thought it was impossible to even attend college let alone teach in one. Steppingstone helped me change my mind and achieve these goals and for that I am ever so grateful.

I attended Steppingstone in middle school and loved every bit of it. Although most kids at that age don't like to do extra school work or attend extra classes, Steppingstone made it so much fun that I honestly wish I could go back and do it again! Steppingstone gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in both academic and social skills. They helped me get into one of the three exam schools and paired me up with a mentor that helped me get into college. I am so happy that my parents found Steppingstone and maybe one day my son will attend too!

I am a PROUD Steppingstone alumna! I was provided the opportunity to participate in the Steppingstone program from 1999 to 2001. At a very young age, Steppingstone trained me to prepare myself for the future that I wanted. Initially at that age (5th to 7th grade), I wasn't really focused on the future, but Steppingstone changed all of that. They had an amazing program in place to help prepare its students for the Boston Independent School Entrance Exam ("ISEE"). Being accepted to one of the Boston Exam Schools meant more opportunities for middle school, high school and college development. Steppingstone also offered classroom courses that were geared toward reinforcing and developing on the topics studied during school hours. Some students needed extra help and that extra push, and the Steppingstone faculty was always there. I think what stood out most to me was that they offered special courses such as Russian language and Chinese calligraphy, which are courses you would rarely see offered in schools. I took advantage of both classes gained an appreciation for two very new cultures. The Steppingstone staff is very caring and dedicated to the future of its students. They truly go above and beyond what is asked of them. Steppingstone is an amazing program. I recommend it for every student.

Steppingstone has been such a huge part of my life since I was in the seventh grade. They have given me and my family the resources that I needed to succeed. Their curriculum not only prepares you for high paced private independent and exam schools, but you will enter ahead of your class. Even after graduating, they have supported me throughout my high school years and helped with the college process. Their network of scholars is broad and it is amazing to see their former students giving back to their communities and paying forward. Going to school during the summer was such a sacrifice as a naïve 10 year old, but I can truly say that the hard work and dedication has paid off as a now college graduate. I owe all my success, exposure to so many cultures, my determination, work ethics, and sense of community to steppingstone.

Steppingstone does wonderful work on behalf of Boston's youth. It really feels great to support an organization where you can so easily see the tangible impact it has on young people. Hearing Scholars talk about how Steppingstone's programs have given them opportunities they didn't know existed - attending private or public exam schools and even going to college - really makes you realize Steppingstone is making such a big difference for so many kids.

I have been lucky to be involved with The Steppingstone Foundation since its founding in 1990. Starting and running an organization was never something I ever considered. My only career goal was to be a schoolteacher, because my teachers, each in their own way, were the most important people in my childhood. Not only did they awaken an intellectual curiosity, but they created an environment that made me safe enough to take what seemed like huge risks for an adolescent. If I succeeded, they encouraged me to build on what I'd done (with their tireless help!). When I fell short, these noble men and women, mostly in their late twenties, but a few were in their middle years, bucked me up, found something good to encourage me about, and then challenged me to do better. I loved them all and revered the profession, I was acutely aware that because of the dozen years I spent with these wonderful teachers, literally anything was possible. Yale, Oxford, and Harvard were far less a reflection of my academic brilliance, rather they were opportunities that were a matter of course given the preparation and support I was so lucky to have.

Great independent and public exam schools (like Bronx Science in NYC, Boston Latin in Boston, or Lowell in San Francisco, were nearly impossible for underserved children to succeed at. The academic and social transition is proved to high a hurdle for even the most gifted students from more difficult circumstances.

I decided, after a few wonderful years of teaching, to create a caring, demanding, high content, summer and after school program that had as its sole mission to prepare schoolchildren, regardless of circumstance, to get into schools that lead to college; get into a four year college, and graduate. In the intervening quarter century, over 2,000 Steppingstone Scholars have completed the preparatory program. Nearly all have graduated from high school, gone on to four-year colleges, and 80% have graduated within six years, which is many multiples better than their counterparts who didn't avail themselves of The Steppingstone Foundation.

My two children have been scholars at the Steppingstone Foundation for 6 years. Steppingstone has been on the best things that could happen to our family. They have been a support since day one of our participation. They helped us preparing the kids for Independent schools, helpings us with the financial aid process and being a support all the way. My son has worked for Stteppingstone for two summers, where he have been able to build his skills and his resume along with earning some money for himself. Now we are applying to college and Steppingstone has been helping us with helping us to choose schools, the financial aid process and college tours. We feel that we are ahead of the college process because of program but also the amazing people that work there. I always refer families there because I would like more people to benefit from this amazing program.

Steppingstone has been a huge help for me in the past few years. They have helped me with organization, time management, and stress relief. I worked at Steppingtone last summer and continue to rave about the program, I have been a teacher for ten years and working with the scholars has been one of the most rewarding, These young students have motivation and ambition to carve out a better future for themselves, and although it is challenging work for them, I watched so many persevere. I have also taught formal scholars at my school, which is one of the placement schools. Those Steppningstone scholars have undoubtedly been some of the strongest students with the best attitudes. I attribute their success and strong character to what they gained at Steppingstone. What a remarkable and selfless foundation and I am honored to be a part of it.

I have been involved with The Steppingstone Foundation for about 17 years now. I first became involved as a Steppingstone Scholar because I had a teacher who encouraged me to be a part of this program and immediately talked to my mom about it. I was in Advanced placement classes and she knew Steppingstone would give me the tools needed for academic success. Since then, I have graduated from one of the top prep schools in the country, graduated from an Ivy-league institution, received a Masters degree and am gainfully employed in my field of choice. Steppingstone gave me my first taste of leadership. I owe them much of my gratitude as I contribute much of my success to the program. I currently serve on the Alumni Task Force and volunteer with them as much as I can. Each year, Steppingstone helps thousands of motivated, hardworking students from the city of Boston come a little closer to realizing their dreams of getting a good education and a college degree. The Steppingstone Foundation has been changing lives for nearly 25 years. Thanks to Steppingstone, I have become a great leader, learned discipline in the professional and academic field, and I've learned to strive to be the best that I can be. I have worked both for and with the Steppingstone Foundation and I am continuously impressed with the organization. I first came in contact with the foundation as a fifth grade teacher at a Boston Public School when I nominated students from my class for The Steppingstone Academy. I was so impressed with the work that I saw being done that I wanted to be a part of the faculty and spent my summer working for the College Success Academy. I have seen first hand that The Steppingstone Foundation helps students recognize the dream of success and makes sure they achieve it. Volunteering on a fundraising committee and the Alumni Council for The Steppingstone Foundation is one of the most gratifying activities I’m involved in. The Steppingstone Foundation runs top notch academic enrichment programs that primes underprivileged youth for securing scholarships at prestigious high schools in the Boston area that lead to college matriculation. My road to being a volunteer is a special one. I am a lucky alumna of The Steppingstone Scholars Program. As a child of Vietnamese refugees, my family and I had never imagined the possibility of me attending a private high school or Harvard University. I attribute a lot of my personal academic and professional success to Steppingstone, which had opened doors for me when I was merely ten years old. My life path would have been very different if not for The Scholars Program (the name of the program when I attended). Through Steppingstone, I had the opportunity to attend a high school with the academic rigor that would challenge and groom me for the opportunity to be admitted to a college such as Harvard. In the past five years since I have graduated from college, I have participated in planning a black-tie fundraising event that raises funds that go toward providing Scholars with school supplies, books, and transportation to their Steppingstone classes. Having benefited from kind benefactors as a Scholar and now being able to help the next generation of Scholars gives me an indescribable joy, as I know that Steppingstone truly runs successful programs and gives opportunities to talented kids who may not otherwise have these opportunities. In the past year, Steppingstone has also invited me to participate in its first-ever Alumni Council. Not only are they committed to provide current Scholars with a rewarding experience, but they are making Alumni a top priority, as well. Steppingstone is near and dear to my heart and I take great joy in participating in even these small ways to help cultivate a future generation of talented students and leaders in society.

I am both a volunteer and a "scholar" who has been served by this outstanding organization. I graduated from the program in 1996. I always say I never would have gone to the all-girls' boarding/day school I attended without the program, but it did so much more for me than that. It provided me opportunities to meet friends from all over the world, gave me the confidence to compete with my private school peers, provided me with college application and financial aid assistance, offered me a broad network of mentors to help with career decisions and job moves, and has instilled in me a passion for working towards access to educational opportunities for underserved children. I graduated summa cum laude from a four-year university's honors college with a double-major degree and a certificate and went on to work for a top firm in my industry. I'm now pursuing my master's. I am proud to serve as on the foundation's alumni panel, support its fundraising efforts and scholar events. I continue to receive support in my career from the staff of superstars there. I feel proud to be part of the Steppingstone family.

My son is a Steppingstone's scholar and WE ARE PROUD to be part of it and also much blessed! Steppingtone Foundation is a FANTASTIC and AMAZING organization that helps kids not only academically and socially but emotionally. Thru caring teachers and staff, it builds self-steem, promotes team-work, instills in young people's minds and hearts the desire to be a better person. Pride in hard work and excellence in one's actions are a by-product. Self-worth also. Open-mindness, confidence in their abilities and the willingness to learn something new every day comes naturatelly after spending time with like-minded associates and peers. When they wear their white T-Shirts with it's Logo, they do it knowing they belong to something GREAT. They become mindful of their actions and words because they recognize they are representing a group of ideas, mentors, teachers, students, colleagues all working towards a common goal: to make young children successful in life - and by success I don't mean having a big bank account and material things - but rather being a caring, thoughtful, compassionate, community serving, altruist, global thinker individual with an good academic foundation and love for higher learning and appreciation. Thank you Steppingstone for the many possibilities you have presented us and the continued support. Yes, our goal is for our son to continue his education all the way to collegue and beyond!
