Todd, you're the best. And what a great time I had rockin' with your band at Chicago's House of Blues last week. I'll get up and do the "Cool Jerk" with you and the band. I'll have to remember to be there for both nights next time you do Side 1 AND Side 2 to your visionary "Wizard, a true Star" record. Hey, maybe next time you can do "I'm in the clique"' .too. This school year, I was put in charge of the music programs in my area, which is rural and low-income. I was so excited to take the job that I never realized that the music programs in the schools would be in such bad shape. What instruments we have are in need of repair and the students deserve this positive force in their lives!

I was desperate and a friend suggested I contact the Spirit of Harmony Foundation for help. I did, and I was blown away by their Music Education Toolkit on their website that has tons of great resources and information. I've been in touch with them a few times and they are so patient and kind as they listen to my problems and offer solutions, networking, and ideas.

They helped me think through what we need and how to go about supporting the music programs in the long-term. For the school that was in the greatest need of help, they suggested we start a percussion program so the kids can learn music without having to worry about expensive instruments and gear. They even encouraged me to reach out to local service clubs for local support, which I never would have even thought of doing.

I was feeling overwhelmed, and now I am very grateful for the assistance I am receiving from the Spirit of Harmony. I now have a little bit of a plan, and I'm sure I'm moving in a good direction to get my students the music programs they deserve.

I first learned of Spirit of Harmony Foundation at a Todd concert and was touched by the nobility of his wish to bring music into people’s lives as early as possible. Playing and/or appreciating music makes us happy, and happiness radiates love, really. The joy of learning and playing an instrument is nothing short of magical, and Todd’s goal of spreading that magic will continue to make the world a more joyful and loving place. It’s hard to find a more lasting gift than a musical instrument. Well done SOHF.

I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. Music class was mandatory. You could either sing or play an instrument. I had to do chorus because my mother could not afford the “fee” for the instrument. I sang my heart out, and was actually pretty good, but I so deeply wanted to learn how to play the piano. Spirit of Harmony Foundation is working on bringing music back into the education system.

Being Todd Rundgren fans, my husband and I got involved as volunteers for Spirit of Harmony a few years ago, as we believe that music education is of utmost importance in our society but unfortunately our schools are putting less and less focus on this important piece of children's education. Our volunteer work with SOFH has inspired us, along with a friend, to create our own nonprofit to do instrument drives. Which shows that SOFH really lives up to, and evokes passion to, its mission. We are proud to be volunteers of this organization.

experience has been limited bit I continue to see the effort put in by its' members and other volunteers. I know that each board member is responsible in executing the mission behind SOHF and will continue to fulfill its desired goals.

SOHF was founded on the moral imperative that music education is critical on multiple levels and, yet it is disappearing in the school systems around the country (and world for that matter).

I believe SOHF deserves recognition and support for its' effort to survive and thrive!

Thank you-Nancee Minton

Being in lockdown during the pandemic, I have had a lot of time to start practicing the clarinet again. There was also plenty of time to clean my closets! So I decided to upgrade from my old instrument to a new one. The old clarinet was still perfectly good, but I decided to treat myself. I contacted the Spirit of Harmony and honestly thought they would tell me that they wouldn't be able to help me donate it to kids in need, because programs weren't operating during COVID. But they not only connected me with a wonderful kids' music program in my own neighborhood, but they made the e-introduction. They were very helpful, and not only was I able to find a great new home for my clarinet, but I discovered a fantastic program in my own community that I can support! The Spirit of Harmony Foundation does excellent and important work connecting people and supporting music programs.

I was speaking with some neighbors who were very concerned about filling the days of their kids during the COVID-19 school and activity closures. As a long-time Todd fan, I checked in on the website of Todd's Spirit of Harmony Foundation to see whether they offered any ideas for making sure kids have music education during this time. I found an incredibly helpful resource page (https://spiritofharmony.org/program-spotlight/) that I was able to share with my friends.

Between the website and their social media posts, the Spirit of Harmony seems to always be at the forefront of music education advocacy. They keep things positive and practical, always thinking of ways to make sure music is part of kids' lives.

I attended a symposium (sponsored by Spirit of Harmony Foundation) because I was a fan of Todd's Rundgren's music. A scientific presentation demonstrated how music education gives young children much more than the ability to play an instrument. It improves their overall performance in school. I always thought music was mind-expanding. It turns out that it is. I became a donor, and then a volunteer, and now a board member. By providing underserved kids with music education, we are not just giving them a hobby. We are giving them a chance to make more of their overall education.

Todd Rundgren's Spirit of Harmony has proven itself to be an amazing resource for music education programs across the nation. They endeavor to engage with people to take an interest in programs benefiting young children in the community as well as networking a variety of organizations and corporations in order to provide the resources to advance music education for under served schools and programs providing educational opportunities for young child.

Music Education will help resolve so many issues our nation faces from economics to crime, if more fully embraced. The Spirit Of Harmony endeavors at the grassroots level to advance that mission and goal

The Spirit of Harmony has given fans a true opportunity to take the deeper meaning of Todd Rundgren's libretto and put into true action, "Love In Action", as the song states. His global community, in a variety of ways, has advocated for music education for children, raised funds and collected musical instruments for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to play and perform.

As a board member and one of its founders, the work of this foundation has inspired me in ways I never considered in my life. From organizing instrument drives, to working with music education programs across the country and producing concerts helping to shine a light on this much needed educational opportunity.

The last 6 years have been richly rewarding and I look forward to continuing our work far into the future. As stated in another Todd lyric... "There's always more."

The Spirit of Harmony works hard to support music programs in schools. In times when they are cutting the arts, it’s important to remember that the benefits extend far into other subjects such as math and science.

The Foundation also accepts donations from the Amazon Smile program so please choose them you are shopping!

The Spirit of Harmony Foundation continues to advocate for music in education and to match resources with needs. Instrument drives by Todd Rundgren fans have greatly enriched the lives of the recipients. The Founders and Fans believe deeply in the work they do and work hard to fulfill the Foundation’s mission: “…to support music and music education.”

Todd Rundgren has long believed that music education is a crucial component of childhood development. Studies show children who play instruments or who are otherwise exposed to music, perform better in school. With that in mind, Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation plays matchmaker—pairing those in need of musical instruments and/or mentorship with those who can fulfill those needs.

Music education opens doors a child may never have known existed. The SOHF provides opportunities for them to walk through those doors and discover an expanded view of themselves, their community, and the world.

The Spirit of Harmony Foundation is very near and dear to my heart. The music advocacy that the foundation provides is critical to the education and well-being of children. The Board and its Founder, Todd Rundgren, are dedicated and passionate about sharing the groups mission. By engaging volunteers from Todd' s devoted fan base, the foundation has been able to spread their message far and wide. One of the greatest programs is the musical instrument drives. The drives allow for much-needed instruments to get into the hands of children who otherwise might never have the chance to experience the joy of learning/playing music, as well as enriching their lives. Music and love is the answer!

I have supported The Spirit of Harmony Foundation for several years now, because of the work that they do in promoting music education for young people. I have seen firsthand how music education benefits children in other areas beyond music and am thankful there is an organization that is advocating for music education as part of the educational experience for children.

Todd Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation does so many wonderful things to support music education programs throughout the country. The foundation’s support of local instrument drives to put instruments in the hands of youth who express a desire to play music has changed countless lives for the better. Music is the universal language, crossing socio-economic-racial borders and inequalities. The Spirit of Harmony Foundation tirelessly promotes music education with an uplifting message of love, generosity and hope. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this organization and the folks who drive its engine.

The Spirit Of Harmony Foundation is a magical combination of music and love in action. Todd, the board, volunteers, and supporters infuse the present and seed the future with a joyful sound. I have benefited personally in perhaps an unusual way. Like all families, ours has had a time of difficulty. Reading about SOHF partnerships and events, seeing videos of kids, teachers, and communities lifted up by music has helped to keep my heart open. The board is very focused on the imperative of music education, but it is done in a true spirit of harmony with opportunity to contribute on many levels in creative, fun ways.

The Spirit of Harmony Foundation is "love in action." I have witnessed their work firsthand, such as when they distributed musical instruments to children at the local homeless shelter and helped teach them to play the ukulele. They bring music and instruments into the lives of everyone and highlight the importance of music education as the key to better, more fulfilling, more hopeful, more empathetic lives.

SOHF is a stellar advocate of music education for children. Their promotion of research, programs and artists in the field has increased exposure and support for these programs including my own, Creative Concepts in Music. I worked w SOHF staff on Todd Rundgren’s Kennedy Center for the Arts residency at the U of Notre Dame in 2016 to present my original teaching songs for a school and school district staff. I was grateful to experience two of Todd’s presentations to students at the University that truly inspired anyone with an interest in music, creativity, stage production and the value of following your true path. It was an amazing experience to see how well SOFH staff connected with all of the many people involved in this beautiful experience in music education. A superb staff, mission and organization.

Outside of totally supporting and believing in the message of Spirit of Harmony, my main focus has been on creating instrument drives to provide instruments to the children's programs who rely on help from donations and volunteers to help them realize their dreams. After 4 years of striving to bring music education within my community via this foundation, they have always been 100% supportive by communicating with us immediately with advice, sending us promotional media to provide to the public and shouting out about our instrument drives in real time. This foundation's directors and supporters go above and beyond to prove that the moral imperative of music education is real and absolutely necessary. The passion is invaluable and inspirational.

I join with the Spirit of Harmony as a volunteer to advocate for the moral imperative of music education for children at the earliest age possible and to keep the music programs alive in schools. We have done several instrument drives and the musical instruments have been donated to needy music programs and handed to children across the US. The experience and meaning is exceptional and warms the heart. The board members and leaders are truly passionate about the cause. We hope more and more people will support this wonderful foundation.

As a child in elementary and high school, I was always exposed to music. I played violin in elementary school, and sang in elementary and high school chorus. I feel blessed to have had this experience. I am saddened to know that times have changed. My grandson doesn’t have the same opportunities that I had. It is my honor and pleasure to support the Spirit of Harmony Foundation. What a wonderful organization to get instruments and music in the hands and minds of our next generation!! I will continue to support the efforts of this amazing foundation!!

I want to give a shout out to all the good people at Todd Rundgren’s SOHF including President Todd. (*not to get political but that has a nice ring to it)
I have followed & supported SOFH since I found out about it 4ish years ago.
Iam happy & proud to be able to do anything I can to help. I know how vital music is for babies & children. From the fact that they listen to it in the womb, to singing & ‘banging on the drum’ being so important very early on. It only makes sense that music is crucial & it is something that TRuly brings us together.
There are so many studies & scientific proof of what music does for our brains not to mention our mental & emotional well being.
Todd has known all this for a very long time & really wants to share the experience & make it possible for all children to be able to have exposure to musical instruments, the opportunity to take lessons consistently for an extended amount of time & to have the joy that comes from it.
Please take a look at their website. There are many areas where we can be involved. Its fun & gratifying. Kim

I am honored to serve as a board member for this small but mighty effort to promote early childhood music education. Emerging from Todd Rundgren's fans and their desire to do more for children music education, SOHF strives to impact the lives of children locally while participating in larger national networks that support music education. Here in NE Ohio, SOHF supports several local music efforts, including EN-RICH-MENT in Canton , Ohio, where children from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided a rich musical education through performance, dance, and instruction.

As a relatively new fan of musician Todd Rundgren, I found out about his Spirit of Harmony Foundation when a call was put out to fans to volunteer in social media and blog writing. In the past four years, I have helped spread the word about the foundation's music education advocacy by writing blog entries, a Volunteer Spotlight series, editing a quarterly newsletter, contributing to social media postings and helping at a homeless shelter in South Bend, Indiana, where Todd handed out ukuleles to children to begin a music program there. Most recently, I helped staff a foundation information table at Todd Rundgren's 'The Individualist' concerts. This is just a small sampling of the connections created and fostered by the Spirit of Harmony Foundation. The foundation strives to pair schools in need of musical instruments or music programs with community organizations equipped to fulfill those needs. Music changes lives and the foundation helps nurture that ideal by proactively working to get musical instruments into the hands of children from the earliest age possible. It is truly, as the Todd Rundgren song lyric states, 'Love in Action.'

I have had the opportunity to be a volunteer for the Spirit of Harmony Foundation on a number of occasions and I always moved by stories people tell about their experiences with music. At used instrument drives, donors are very happy to know that their cherished instruments will be receiving a new life, giving children the opportunity of music education. With the objective of advocating for music education for all children, the Spirit of Harmony Foundation is an organization that embodies the belief that “Music Education is a Moral Imperative. “

I have been an activist for the Spirit of Harmony Foundation for a number of years. As a fan of it’s originator,Todd Rundgren,I knew it must be outstanding. The benefits of music, while well known, continue to be cut by inadequate funds. Mr. Rundgren’s dream is to continue to give all children the chance to be a part of music’s legacy. He chose carefully who might enable this fight of music for children everywhere. With the help of,Jean Lachowicz, his dream is coming true! The results continue to show it’s growth and importance. My heart over flows with pride to be a part of such a worthwhile organization!

We first learned about Todd Rundgren's Spirit of Harmony Foundation five years ago when we were looking for music education non-profits to donate proceeds from our "88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life" book series. Though they were a fairly young organization at the time, we loved their mission and how they were working to grow their advocacy efforts. Ultimately we chose Spirit of Harmony to be one of the organizations "88+ Ways Music" would support and 5 years later we're still thrilled with that decision. Jean and Ed's efforts along with Todd's guidance and marque name are helping to connect music programs in need with needed resources all over the United States. Their efforts are helping thousands of children receive music education who otherwise might not.

Doing excellent work keeping music education alive in the public school system. Working diligently on collecting & distributing used band instruments. All inspired by fans of Todd Rundgren gathering and donating 10K to a New Orleans public school band program. Great non-profit that deserves recognition!
