My husband and I are volunteers with the Boynton Beach The Soup Kitchen . When we began, we decided we would try it. It has been over a year now and we love it. We have met many people who are also volunteers and have become great friends. The guests that come to The Soup Kitchen are some of the nicest people that are very appreciative of the warmth of the volunteers, and the great selection of the food they get, especially the hot meal our wonderful Chef Peter
cooks daily. Our CEO Marlene Mejia and COO Dimetry Viarenich are very approachable to suggestions and concerns, and check in on all the volunteers on a daily basis. They promote compassion and camaraderie with guests and volunteers.

An amazing organization with a great saff and volunteers that daily demonstrate selflessness, hardwork, and genuine caring for those they serve. Credit must be also given to the businesses that donate excess food and inventory that make the tasty and nutritious meals possible day in and day out. Can't think of a better run or organized non-profit.

The Soup Kitchen is an amazing organization. For over 30 years, this fine organization has been welcoming people in need, feeding them hot, nutritious meals. No questions asked. On average they serve almost 700 meals and distribute approximately 120 bags of groceries a day. They operate with a very effective Executive Director, and three part time workers. What makes the difference is the 200+ volunteers; who believe in TSK’s mission and of course, its leadership. People from all walks of life visit TSK, witness first hand the love/passion our Executive Director displays towards the work and ‘guests’ – people in need, and naturally join in. I’ve seen individuals come for a visit and sign up to return to volunteer.
In the 30+ years, TSK has evolved to serve its population in different ways. Again, as a result of our Executive Director’s sensitivity and willingness to address issues. Since 2008, TSK has offered educational classes on health and nutrition to pregnant women and mothers with children. Taking Care of Our Babies, has become so valuable that classes are now offered in English, Spanish and Creole. Additionally, TSK collects and distributes clothing, free of charge, to those in need and the homeless. Every Thanksgiving, guests come not only to enjoy a turkey meal, many who can take a whole turkey to enjoy back home. Last year, over 400 turkeys were distributed. Every December Santa stops by The Soup Kitchen to provide gifts to children who may otherwise be forgotten.
This organization is a gem in the community. It sustains itself through private donations, receiving no funding form local, state or federal governments.
I can’t say enough of TSK. I invite you to visit their website: www.thesoupkitchen.org to learn more.
