Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Homeless & Housing, Homeless Centers, Homeless Shelters, Human Services

Mission: Feeding the homeless since 1982, The Rock at Noonday is the cornerstone of care for the homeless and hungry. We hope that one day, no person will be hungry, lacking shelter, or without basic provisions. Until that day comes, we will help God’s homeless children through nourishing meals, spiritual guidance and other essential services that help promote self-sufficiency, dignity and independence. The Rock at NoonDay offers a small corner of peace and a promise to fill a void with nutrition, compassion and hope. The Rock provides biblical hospitality for the hungry, homeless and hurting.

The minute I walked in the door I knew, 'The Rock at NoonDay,' was a special place! As a volunteer for the past two years in the facility's clothing distribution room, I have witnessed the many services that are provided by the 'Rock.' It is not just the services, but the compassion in how they are delivered. In my interaction with the client's that use the facility, they have shared that 'The Rock' provides them a temporary home that they don't have currently. They can take a shower, get their cloths washed and have a warm meal, all in a clean safe environment. Thank you for being such a stabilizing force in our community!

The Rock at Noon Day is a terrific place to help those in need of a meal; having their clothes washed; a shower; Christian Legal Aidas well as I am sure other benefits - but most importantly, to hear and receive spiritual sustenance from Danny or any of the other pastors or ministers on a daily basis, when they are open five days a week. The people who work there are lovely kind people and have helped many - even those who are too ungrateful to appreciate their selfless charity that is given freely without any guilt trips. This place is one in a million.

The Rock @ Noon Day is a warm welcoming place that is the safety net for so many people living on the streets or not he edge. The Rock strives to provide whatever a guest may need in order to help improve their life. Without the Rock many of those on the streets of Albuquerque would have no where to turn.

Deuteronomy 15:11 “For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’”

The people at The Rock are true to this Bible verse. Pastor Danny is an amazing man who from the bottom of his heart gives all he can to this organization. I am a volunteer at The Rock and hear stories of people who have turned there lives around after being helped from this group of people; just everyday people, who have had a bad string of luck and ended up out on the street. The people who come to The Rock are so grateful for simple things like a clean pair of underwear and socks and being able to use their address to get mail.

Jesus described the church as imperfect people who know they needed a Savior, working together to build relationships, help those in need, and to glorify God by striving to be like Christ and share His love with others. The Rock is a church for the homeless.

The Rock provides wholesome meals as well as many other services to the homeless community. The staff is focused on people and their needs. Much of the daily work is done by volunteers - so that the funds can be used to provide for those in need. Some of the services provided are: laundry, clothing, showers, telephone, mail receipt, legal aid and haircuts. Truly a ministry with concern for the whole person.

I love The Rock at NoonDay ministry! They truly live their mission and take care of those in the most need and often those who are not being served anywhere else.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 (ESV):

I was not sure what to expect when I first walked in the door but I quickly felt the Love of Christ from the staff and volunteers! They have a genuine heart for those in need. The staff go out of their way to make those being served feel loved and are treated like a family. They know the names of many of the homeless and are quick to greet them and brighten their day. When you have volunteers who love to come in and give of their time speaks not only of their giving hearts but also of how the ministry is run. The current staff is amazing. The meals are nutritious and delicious and the messages are Spirit filled. The Rock @ NoonDay is such a blessing to the city of Albuquerque.

Initially volunteering at the Rock at NoonDay (RAN) took a step of faith. I did not know what to expect, because up until then, the only interaction with the homeless , was in a parking lot being asked for spare change. That was always a scary. What if i said no, what if they acted unpredictably, then what?
My first day volunteering to serve lunch at the RAN changed me forever. I went from apprehensive interactions to seeing the homeless as brothers and sisters in Christ. Not only did the staff warmly welcomed me, but I found it a safe place to place food in their hands, look them in the eye and say "God Bless you brother, I hope you enjoy the meal. Now when I meet a homeless person I can share God's love and invite them to share a meal with the other volunteers and staff members. My life was changed, so can yours.

The Rock at Noonday is a wonderful partner to the other organizations that are providing housing to those experiencing homelessness. I have provided outreach at Noonday for a number of years and they graciously provided me with the office space and other resources. The staff and volunteers there are the best and I cannot describe my gratitude for their support and for all they do for our homeless brothers and sisters.
